We are more than our jobs. This channel is about pursing passions and sharing them with others. Yesterday made you who you are today, but today you get to choose who you will be tomorrow. Through the study of key choices, like a positive attitude, and learning from friends we can be better today than we were yesterday. On this channel, you will find: motivational videos on positive attitude - how to videos on key choices - reflections on life - and a few special videos just for fun. As an avid photographer, I'll also be sharing some of my favorite photos and the locations where I found them.
Trekking The Towpath: EP9 - "Slug" ish
Welcome back to the trail!
This week we are traveling from Crystal Springs Trailhead to Butterbridge Trailhead. We will encounter a plethora of animals, and I dare say this is one of my favorites sections of the towpath outside of the the Cuyahoga Valley National Park. (Zoar was pretty amazing too!) Another special feature this week is Rachel Browning, my amazing and talented wife, who provided all the photos for today's episode. She is a big fan of #MacroPhotography and she put her skills to work! She took some amazing photos of animals throughout the trail. Check them out in this weeks episode of Trekking The Towpath!
PS - Did I mention there were about 1 MILLION SLUGS? They were EVERYWHERE!
The Ohio & Erie Canal Towpath Trail starts in Tuscarawas County in the town of Zoar, which is a beautiful German settlement. It goes 110 miles along trails and roads ending in Cleveland. When the canal was operational from 1832 - 1913 it stretched all the way from Lake Erie to the Ohio River. The trail itself covers about 83 miles, but there are also sections of roadway that go through small towns where the trail couldn't be completed.

I Was Afraid
มุมมอง 523 ปีที่แล้ว
What do I do when I'm afraid? How do I overcome fear? What would I do if I weren't afraid? All of these questions were flooding my mind on a recent trip. I spent a few days in the Mohican wilderness trying to recenter myself. Trying to rediscover what's most important and evaluate if my daily activities mirror that or if I am more focused on things that don't matter. It wasn't long after I arri...

Let me know what you think!
Founded by Swiss immigrant Alfred Nickles in 1909, Alfred Nickles Bakery makes a broad range of fresh-baked goods. Products include bagels, bread, dinner rolls, deli style, cakes, pastries, sweet rolls, and donuts. Its lineup is sold to retail food and foodservice businesses, located mainly in the Midwest. Alfred Nickles, as a result, operates nearly 40 distribution branches and about five modern bakeries in West Virginia, Ohio and Pennsylvania.... 😋😋😋😋
I think my sugar jumped 20 points just by smelling the deliciousness! Thanks for sharing this bit of background. It's very interesting the things we don't realize are in our backyard. I never knew there was a Nickles bakery there, and I definitely did not know the history until you just shared it. Thanks! 😊
Cool you got the picture of the deer

Fireproof was a great film with Kirk Cameron 👌 I did the 30 day challenge as well. And, I may do it again. Angie appreciated it and I was surprised by her positive responses. Thanks for inviting us to read the 5 love languages again, Roy. Maybe they will be different and I would be willing to pay attention to hers if they have. Roy rocks...Dom

Great info. My joy and rejuvenation comes from quilting. Gotta make time for that. It helps me stay balanced.
Yes! Being intentional about making time is the only way I keep my life in balance too.
Encouraging the person you are helping is a big deal.
Very nice. Now I want three more: find a song for each season. : ) Maybe Golli's Cake-Walk for Spring when all the buds are popping out or fall when the squirrels are busy collecting nuts??? Not sure what song for summer, but I definitely hope it has beach pictures with it.
Great idea!
Your right sometimes very hard to say focused on one thing when two or three things need done.
This conversation can be the start of many subsequent conversations. Joe mentioned communication - when our focus is torn between important things, a chance to communicate expectations and feelings can go a long way to reduce the stress. Wish I had known this when I was younger and had known how to talk about these things.
I totally agree about resting. Several things come to mind. In my lifetime, culture has changed from "do it well" to "promise to do more." If we change our mindset to think about what do I have to say no to so that I can give my absolute best to my commitments, we have to include intentionally making time to rest - and to not getting over-tired in the first place. Resting is one of the first lessons in the Bible. God worked hard and gave His all, and then on the 7th day He rested. That is not something we hear much about these days. I just did a workshop on spiritual disciplines, and they talked about slowing. This past year has been different for me than for Roy: I have had extra time. And very often I have seen blessings that overwhelm me with thankfulness. And I realize that those things were happening all through my life, but I was often too busy to notice them.
One thing 2020 is teaching me is that not over-filling your daily schedule really helps to appreciate the time we have with others. Because there is less I can do, moments of time can be noticed and savored. This month I have had many moments when I just felt "life is good!" Had they happened last year, I would hardly have noticed them. My advice is to be intentional about planning your day as much as possible. Don't do too little, of course, but there are many things we can say no to.
"It takes a lot of pictures to make a great picture! I can't agree with you more. " Go out and take more pictures" is exactly what I told myself to do recently. Great video! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks! I keep telling it to myself too. 🙂
Awesome video, you got an extra like! Keep it up! On my channel we also learn new tricks, take on new challenges and make progression videos! You could take a look and sub if you like the content :)
Teaching and mentoring new people to do the jobs of the leaders is so important. I've seen many organizations through the years who don't invest in the people who will take over some day and it hurts the organization. Plus when the current leaders are working with the new people, it leads to more creative ideas and better outcomes.
Wow Roy-this is Powerful.
Thanks Karen!!
Thanks for sharing Roy.
So true - if you choose a negative attitude for the day, you lose the day. We have to put on our game face and decide to be upbeat so that we can fully take advantage of today.
Roy shares his feelings about having diabetes and lets us know that we can choose to be optimistic about life despite the challenges we face. Watch this and get motivated in facing your own hard things with an upbeat spirit.
Everyone knows how to win but loosing is hard. You gave good advise that they will be able to use that the rest of their lives. Having fun is great advise and hopefully they will not forget it. (On a side note smiles are always good to see)
Definitely one I’ll remember too! 😊
Well said Roy. I use these values with my kids both in their sports and playing at home together, that way they will always have something to look forward to the next time they play having new knowledge. "Pressure the defense if they pass the ball back" reminds me of our coaching in HS. That means a lot though, "pressure the defense." Thanks for the video!
Thanks for the kind words! Love that we can pass on what we learned to our kids.
Great video! I’m working on my discipline!
Me too! 😊
Nice job. Very positive message.
You need to take this on the road did a great job telling what it like and how to deal with being a diabetic.
Great video Roy, I can be really attached my my work even when i’m not there and it does take away from being there and being present. So having the reminder to be present is something that I need.
Well said!
Excellent ❤️
Awesome! Really great advice.
excited to see this!
