In 2021, I took the leap into self-employment with just some homeowner tools, a $200 push mower, and a rusty old Dodge Ram. Fast forward, and we’ve built a thriving little family operation. Join me as I document the real, unfiltered chaos of self-employment - sharing the highs, the lows, and everything in between. If you want some solid, no-fluff advice and motivation to kickstart your own business, you've come to the right place.
Customer called me out for 1 inch of snow... On Christmas eve!
Happy New Year and Thanks for tuning in! Bit of a back log video here but I had a long time client of mine call me on Christmas Eve requesting her driveway get's cleared... thing is we barely received an inch of snow and the trigger for dispatch is 2 inches so as you would assume I was a little frustrated!... Sometimes you just gotta roll with it! It's just the business we're in! At the end of the day I had a turn of heart and was glad I did what I did!

Thinking about buying a new 821 QZE here in Ontario, not cheap but I've heard many good things about them. Plus better get one now before they phase out gas singles, Honda did! I noticed yours are hand operated shoot controls, I do like the slide control option though. Still happy with the 821? What's your thoughts on slider control vs manual shoot control?? Thanks!
The QZE is a residential unit vs the commercial grade RC model I’m using. I like the manual control because it’s simple and durable, fewer parts to break, which is ideal for the heavy use and abuse it gets sliding around in the back of my truck. For personal use I can see how the slider control on the QZE would be convenient. Both the 721 and 821 have been serving me well , I don't think you could go wrong with any of Toros single stages.
@@VanGreenLawnCare Thanks bud, wish you all the best $$$... in 2025
Nice!
Thanks!
How many driveways do you service? I am solo as well and wondering how many I can do in around 6 hours. I do have a John Deere tractor with a snowblower so I can take on more work
I have 17 this year. About 30k in revenue.
Crap! I accidently deleted your response! But yes you should be ok as long as you have half decent route density. I actually just got back in from the 2nd snow event of the season
Good stuff brother. I own a lawn care business as a side hustle, while working full time for a lawn care business. Going to try and go full time on my own this spring.
Yeah dude! You got this 💪
