From the Heart: Heart Of Our City (1995)
As a Sheffield girl of some years, my beloved city has hardly progressed since all this demolition.
Goodness me, that's going back some years.
Wot no Illuminations!!?? Please do an illuminations special from from when they were the UKs best!
Great, colourful and very clear photos. Thank you.
Entrance to the Science Park on Howard Street. If planning permission is granted, the site will be cleared and replaced with the new development. (Wikimedia)
Wish I had a time machine.
Dammmm, my perants used to drop use of as kids at the ABC cinema while they went shopping in Castle Market, I'm 62 now and brings back a lot of memories as I have just lost both my parents this month.😢❤
The picture of Sunwin House (0’ 38”) and the following picture of the 88 bus are from the 1970s (both have buses in SYPTE livery)…
0:18.. Didn't the wicker look NICE.. Boy how we have lost our heritage. Great video but disheartening at the same time..!
I wonder if sheffield city councillors since think yhey made the city better or worse,? Ill gi thi a clue. Its a shit hole na.
We need some of these back and an overground transit system reintroduced!
Thank you for posting.
Heartbreaking seeing a once proud City of industry and commerce become one of leisure.
A busy bustling city, full of practical shops, steelworks feeding engineering firms manufacturing products to be shipped around the world. Everyone working hard and playing hard, a zest for life.
I feel old when I can see someone in 1991 looking and sounding like a thing of the far distant past! The city airport turned out to be a white elephant, one minute it was there and then it was gone! Something needs to be done about the background buzzing on this video, I thought there was something wrong with my computer at first!
Great Memories ❤
i used to love the hole in the road . When people came to visit it was the first thing they wanted to see , it was quite a experience walking into it.
I loved the hole in the road and now its gone, what a meeting place.
Haha what a joke 😂. Ok it is thriving with poverty. drugs and homeless well done 👏
It still a shit hole
Well summert went wrong
Brings back memories of when Sheffield was thriving and a place to be proud of. Whatever happened to get us to where we are now?! Lovely seeing the kiosk again in Pond Street.

Parks left and neglected, roads full of potholes, toilets and libraries shut down. Had enough and moved to lincolnshire in 2020. Came back for a visit in 2024 , the place is a ghost town . All the major big shops gone and boarded up , christmas market a shadow of its self. I miss the old sheffield from the 70s,80s,90s,.
The caption Wincobank & Meadowhall is wrong. That station was called Meadowhall & Wincobank. The Wincobank station was on the Midland line between Brightside and Holmes, where Meadowhall Station is now! The station you are showing was on the Great Central line to Barnsley. Confusing or what!😵💫
God just enjoy the video you sad person
Incredible history,such a shame it's gone .
Pulse, previously Jeff's Records. Anyone remember Amazing Records, who also had a shop in Leeds.
Fantastic history , thanks 👍
Well it was certainly better then yhat what it is now. My oh my how sad
A mighty global industrial powerhouse, skilled productive jobs, replaced by laptop yuppies, beard and bald heads (upside down heads 😂) and Chinese flats.
Just incredible to think how many stories are wound up in their lives ,and we will probably never know .
Unfortunately, that's all it is - memories.
80s was a better era back then too
Sheffield is now ruined.
Great memories 😊
Love it.
I spent a lot of my childhood there , playing on the paddle boats .😢
Memories 😟
Brilliant
H&S now is way over the top as you can see from this.
Should never have been closed, upgraded and decent security.
Well the Supertram was more important.
@@misscoutts6193How dare you say that Miss Coutts?😂😂
Wasn't this when rhe Rot set in? Starting with World Student Games.
It used to be 😢 not any more
How many people in this video sat around contemplating the likelihood all their problems were perhaps because they were born in the wrong body?
‘Sheffield welcomes the world to its door…..’ aye as the third world’s dumping ground. All the sentiment in this video is long gone, the industry finished, even the parades don’t happen anymore and all the pride that exists is the manufactured type based on identity characteristics.
Southend road is not on the manor ….
What was the purpose of the visit?
The man known for Wadsley Jack is actually Reuben Hallam , my great great grandfather
What happened. Turned in to a graffiti filled shit hole
