Sound like the Hemi Konker wants to do some Honking LOL!! Such a bad ass car I would take one of them or even a Max Wedge before I would take a Hellcat they may be slower then the hellcats but they have a heart and soul the new cars don't have plus the style of them cars are so much better than anything new could even come close to.

The 409 was the least efficient v8 engine ever built by Chevrolet (except for the 348 with the same design). If it wasn't for Bill Jenkins they never would have won a drag race.

I worked as a mechanic at Ammon R Smith, Dave was married to Vernon Smiths daughter, she was very beautiful, Dave was very cool guy and easy to talk to. I remember one time I went down in the basement of the parts dept and there was a full 62 front assembly of all aluminum, it was so cool working there with all the neat drag race stuff going on.

The class decals should have read S/SA as in Super/ Stock Automatic. He has is SS/A which is incorrect for the time period.

In the background at the very beginning is a 1964 Plymouth Max Wedge car named The Reverent Mr. Black. I sponsored a track rental in about 2013 at Island Dragway in NJ and this car showed up. I met the driver and spoke every word of the lyrics to the Kingston Trio song of the same name and he was amazed. It had all factory original alluminum front end parts and was a totally authentic factory race care. And to top it off, the driver was a real Baptist preacher, as was the Reverend Mr. Black in the song. He ran perior correct mid 11 second times at about 125 mph. I believe he would have done better but for the way oversize rear slicks that actuall slowed him down.

It's really sad to see so many disrespectful, critical naysayers on here and other formats. Zip it or say something nice. This is an extremely valuable peace of American history. You just don't beat a vintage car worth nearly a million dollars to death just to please the critics. Nope... you act like a grown up like this guy, realize what you have, and you respect it. The car (and the driver) have absolutely nothing prove anymore. Just be grateful it survived through the years so everyone could have a glimpse of it - and a nostalgic, respectful run on the track today. The guy even said before he drove it he'd be taking it easy on it. For those who made positive comments, thanks- you are why I still love the hobby.
