The concept works, but the polarity you state in the text is wrong. You did it right in the video though. The steel rod should be connected to the negative lead and the wire to be cleaned to the positive lead. Works very well if you do it like that. It's a ion-current that flows and removes the oxide. Ions are positively charged and flows from positive to negative, in contrary of electrons that is negatively charged and flows from negative to positive.

FYI, Back in the 70s All mazda rx3 in Indonesia were crash, even worst than this... Maybe They didn't get used to "No engine brake" So if you ever find one, I can make sure it must have 808 nose cone.. I used to have 1 thou..

Sounds a bit more like a 12a to me. Sounds similar to the Group B Mazda FB RX7 which was a 12a.
