don’t bother putting down an oil catch pan
Yes sir, we don't have environmentalist pansies here. I mean they move here, but the town folk run them out.
I’m no liberal, Ive pulled engines and trans, cut and welded frames in the driveway but this is just pure white ignorant trash.
Will a bad transmission solenoid make the car go into limp mode?
The transmission has its own version of limp mode. More or less, gets stuck in 2nd gear. But yes.... The solenoid is an electronic component. If it fails, it would throw the computer into a protection mode. It's worth noting that half the time, these problems come from faulty wiring or bad connections, especially from the plugs located on the transmission under the battery. The shift position sensor, or whatever people want to call it. Always check the connections on that before you pull the transmission apart.
THIS VIDEO IS GOLD .... THANKS A LOT
Man I know this vid was a long time ago, so I’m taking a shot in the dark. Have a ‘98 Avalon, with the 1MZ-FE, that runs cool when driving(~150). If I let it idle in the driveway it’ll go to good operating temp(195). Soon as I drive it comes down to 150. I wonder if this is part of the reason the 1MZ-FE was known as a sludge machine?😂 Do you know which sensor the ECM uses for fuel trim? Once the car is warm it’s hard starting. Starts like a dream cold though. After watching your video I think I need to figure out if the fan is running constantly, I don’t think it is but need to verify. And thanks for this info! I didn’t have a clue there are two sensors until I found your video.
Maybe your thermostat is stuck open...
@ I’ve had a thermo stick open before and the vehicle never pegged operating temp. This one does peg it perfect as long as I’m idling it and not heading down the road.
I've had so many defective thermostats in so many different ways. Brand new right out of the package. So, I boil it and time it before I install it. When you say hard start, is it loading up? Like a defective temp sending unit, closed loop? Pretty sure fuel trim is a combo of sensors.
I have a Lexus es300 98 paired with this Transmission. I have this problem when I shift from D to R there is this thud and R to D there is slight thud. I did a drain and fill and replaced the trans filter with Oem filter. Still runs the same the drain and fill was done 800km back. Now I thought to do an another. But this problem is persistent. In cold starts if I shift immediately there’s no thud or anything. Only after it warms up this issue happens. Would like to know any of your input. Thanks
You have any check engine codes? O/D light flashing?? Any other symptoms in normal drive mode?
No nothing like that upshifts downshifts all doing good. There’s no check engine or flashing OD light. It’s just with shifting from D to R there’s this thud like the whole car gets shook for it. But after shifting to R if I shift it back to N and then shift again there’s no thud just normal shifting feeling you get me ?
@@SalmanKhan-mj5nl check motor mounts. Then, check your lower control arms. Those models have bolts that appear to be tight on the lower control arms, but the nuts bottom out before they tighten up. Clunks between reverse and drive. Feels just like a transaxle problem. It was enough to fool me.
Thank you. I’ll check them out
Thank you for your video. Although the photography itself sucks, the true value of your video is in the explanation. Thank you for all the valuable information.
I have 94 Camry LE 3.0 with 158K miles. Man it’s been hard finding videos like these on this particular engine. Thank you for posting these videos. I’ve saved most of them and some for future reference. Thank you!!!
Advance Auto jacked up their prices and did away with most of the discounts they offered, during the pandemic. Most of the prices never came down. I used to spend a lot of money there but have been buying most of my parts on Rock Auto.
making access to exhaust manifold, was reassured by your video that I can jack up the oil pan
Oh yeah. I wish I would've filmed all the times I replaced exhaust manifolds studs.
@@shadetreeautomotiveenthusi1284that’s always fun to watch. I have one stud sheared off the back top passenger side to deal with.
@@benjammin376 Oh yeah. Get your patience ready...
Hey read the sign closely. It say "UP TO" 80% off as you soon found out inside.
😂
Good luck with your Car Quest parts, there is something like a 70% defect rate on their rebuilt and new units. 🤣
Rebuilt AND new? Can't be any worse than Auto Zone. I wonder how many factories there are that reman and sell back
Like to get a good deal on a scan tool
In my 41 years on this world I've only shopped at advanced auto 1 time. That place is trash
I was in advance Auto parts last week and they told me no warranty on anything
I wonder if anybody else got that. If enough people tell me that happened, I don't have a problem with calling the company and recording them, and then posting a video.
Your lucky, none of the stores near me are closing.
What part of Kalifornia is this?
It's not Cali. This is the Gulf Coast, in the southern U.S. We got stores closing all over the place.
WOW you got a massive deal on that starter!! I checked the AA website and they want $243 for a new starter for my Ford Explorer!
You know what' crazy? We are legit involved in a war, and we are doing an implementing EVERY SINGLE stupid policy to ensure we are are weak and will get destroyed in a war. One of the very first things that they do in any war or in any provocation is to do the very best job of isolating things such as fuel especially anything that is combustible That can be used to power a ice engine. And now? They want you to do this while in fact the West is at its most vulnerable? How does any of this make any sense?
all the ones in my area have poor service.
poor service doesn't necessarily beat liquidation prices though. Dealing with them 1 or 2 times to save Hundreds of dollars is worth it for me
I live near downtown los angeles and yes they have so much good deals 80% off
Damn thanks dude! This video helped me a lot! Trying to figure out why radiator got pumped with oil, obviously that cooler is imploded 🤣
Definitely less labor to check that. And I hope it's not something else, like blocker head problems.
Great vid, yall are funny too. I dont expect a response on a 5yr old vid but if your just replacing the a and b solenoid do you need to remove the whole valve assembly? Seen other videos where they just remove the trans cover.
Thanks! Yes, we removed the valve body/assembly.
Great video! I've got 1987 E150 so most of it applied, only difference for me was, the top clip was held up by two bolts and the bottom I had to loosen up at least a little bit. But the shock was easier to loosen up on the 87. But yeah 10/10 video!
Thanks, man. I had an '89 E150, with a 302. I don't miss it. Well....maybe the body. But I don't miss that hot running 302.
the 300 is awesome, not the fastest, but dependable.
See you later clock spring
Kinibbling pin.
Where can I buy one of those inner plunger pieces that you were fooling around with? And what are they called?
Actually when you have problems with your 20lb tanks , The manufacturer doesn't want d i y " er's Atempting to fix a faulty valve , 😊
They designed it to fail.. those bums!!!!😂😂😂😂😂
What kind of wheels are those on your van. They look so perfect with that white paint job on the van. Great video, buddy.👍
Cragar Soft 8 16x8 with a set of 16 inch stainless steel 2 inch trim rings sold for an Impala.
You're an amateur yahoo too... Get a new valve. From seeing you mess with this one we can tell you don't have the skill to do crap safely.
I’m trying to replace the bushings on my 1997 e150. It had those oval shaped bushings at positions 3, 4, and 5 that all busted out leaving the body sitting on the frame. I bought the Doorman set. Are you sure #5 is supposed to be longer? We’re worried to get started to find out the Doorman parts won’t fit. Would like to hear from someone who’s done it like you to confirm before we get started. Your help would be greatly appreciated
I would cross the part numbers in that "Insulator" set with the numbers listed on Ford Parts Giant for your '97. They are listed under "Insulator, Frame to Body".
I worked on an A541E from my old Lexus myself a few years back, and had no choice but to purchase new gaskets from an OEM distributor because they were brittle and falling apart!
Correct. I should've changed these, but I didn't.....and it's still running. Well....I saw it running down the road 6 months ago. I'm pretty sure the guy didn't do anything to it.
Toyota's like clean fluid. You should have added new.
Does the 4cylinder use the same transmission?
Is there an update video?
Thanks for the video. Saved me a ton of time.
Always tighten the bolts that have more play last (ie 2 motor bolts) great job tho all the way around.
Re real find out . Ya !! A ya. Fer real 😮
Would the gear box make it uncomfortable ones you get to about 45 and above. My wife's Grooming van gets to where you can't even keep it straight, you have to turn the wheel back and forth and it get very unstable because it is a heavy Grooming van. Very scary to drive.
it's possible. Also, Econolines behave very differently when a lot of weight is shifted to the rear, because of the way the front end is designed. That's why I try to limit a sag in the rear of the vehicle and the travel. And the steering box, along with a few other components, is responsible for "play" in the steering wheel.
Excellent job. I wasn’t planning on watching a ball joint video today but this popped up on my feed so I had to watch it, as I have all the rest of your stuff. You are Mr. E-350. And I think that torque spec on the lugs is 148 ft./lbs.
Thank you, man, for your positive feedback. I'm getting ready for a road trip, so we did the ball joints, the motor mounts, and the twin I-beam bushings, AKA axle pivot bushings. We have the other two coming soon; shouldn't be as long as the ball joint video!
The camera is not clear
But everything is okay and thanks for this
Dang i done mine backwards 😂 i have the Intek version and for 12 months i been trying to figure the backfire out.. its coming out the carb but after watching i swear i done them reverse thinking top was intake because it looked like it went to the carb
🤣🤣

Won't gasoline melt plastic?
Certain plastics. The blue and black drums are made out of the same plastic the red gas cans are made out of, not to mention much thicker. I hear you, i'd prefer steel drums, but I have both now. Both are full of gas and i have no problems.
@@shadetreeautomotiveenthusi1284 I made a gasoline tank for my truck with one, working good, so far
Unbelievably helpful video, thanks. My front tires are both getting blasted bigtime on the inside edge and strange wear patterns.
Having a hard time finding the right HD clutch fan PN for my 2003 e-250 4.6 - I only see with AC or without, I have AC so maybe have a HD already - Maybe have to go with an electric - I can see situations that I will need to idle for 30 min. up to an hour...
What if it only works on medium high
Good question.....I believe that would be the blower motor switch.
Well I am glad it worked for you. I would like to see an update of that tach in your van. But mine was a Nightmare in disguise. Not knowing WHAT the heck is going on. I have a 1995 Ford E350: 5.8L Roller cam 351W. I did the install as SunPro instructions. But it was all bad in the middle of the night my Ford just died, and keeps killing my ignition control modules. So I junked the SunPro. These tach's are very slow to respond and lag terribly during full throttle excursions and are known to be Off by as much to 300 RPM's+. The Sunpro CP7904 Mini Super Tachometer II said I was @ 2,650+PRM's at 67MPH? and that is imposable with my gearing. After the 2nd ignition control module left me on the side of the Road 3 months later, in a little town call Monroe Oregon. I had to call a mobile mechanic and he took off all the Sunpro wires off and said: That Tach is the problem, and he installed a new ignition control module from Autozone in the next town over. I have a new tach by AutoMeter 2300 Tachometer 3.750 in. Black dial at Amazon $76, so spend the extra $20 and get a AutoMeter. 0 problems after 2 years now, and it shows my RPM's at 2250rpm's @ 67mph. Thank you for your video.
UPDATE: My tach is still working fine; no problems.
WHEN HE TURNS DRUM UP SHOW THAT 5-10HLMI , TYPE THAT IN GOOGLE AS HDPE 5-10 HLMI AND IT TAKES YOU TO MONTACHEME DATA SHEETS I CANT FIND ANYBODY SELLING THIS DRUM WHICH IS GAS RATED AS A 54050M HDPE SO I THINK IT WILL BE EASIER JUST TO BUY USED 50 GAL GAS TANKS FROM JUNK YARD AT LEAST IT HAS A PUMP THAT CAN BE HOOKED UP TO 12 V AND PUMP OUT GAS ALSO AND IT SAFETY RATED AND APPROVED
I have an 2002 f150 5.4 ok at idle but soon has i put it in R or D starts running like crap and my engine light comes on and starts blinking. its always #3 and #7 code... they were not wet when i pulled the coil to swap with another but it hasn't went away for months. now I think Im going to pull em all and blow air inside the but not pull the plug. just air to dry it out.
it says random misfire at start up code and a #3 & #7 misfire. also sounds like a tapping noise only while driving and not at idle. it idles just fine. RPM kind of bounces but not to bad.
I had a coolant leak over the winter and #1 coil pack was probably getting wet. omg I never pulled any of the coils but 3 and 7
YEP, classic coil pack short. Switch #3 and #7 with its neighboring coil pack. THEN see what code you pull. 5.4L is famous for idling with no miss, even though a coil pack is shorting out to ground. They do that. I fought with that many times with many different Tritons. Good Luck. You'll get past it. And then something else will aggravate you later.
Can you remove the output shaft without tearing down the tranny. I know you can remove the input shaft once the torque converter is removed 🤔
I wonder if your carrier bearing (if you have one) kept destroying the rubber the carrier bearing sits in 🤔
