Are any updates on the boat or have you gave up on it
Cracking job 👍🏻 I am also doing up a boat. Can you tell me who you’re getting the glass and resins from? Thanks.
@xiaowright26 southcoast fibreglass supplies in fareham
Absolute smashing job yr making of that boat 👍 👌 💪💪😎🤠 🛥️ 🎣
Not sure if you know but In the carb there is the atomizer under the main jet that could of needed cleaning out with jet cleaning brushes sometimes they can be stuck either a lite tap or a screw ground down to a point and then maybe with a file put a slight groove in it to twist down into the hole to get out the atomiser
Where do you fish from?
Nice job mate 👍 👌 although…. 🫣 should you have not put a flap on the bottom to attach it to the top of the helm? ✌️✊💪
Hi guys …. Great vlog and whit a wee helper 😁👍 looking forward to following your progress .
Mate u was fully invested in your videos with the boat and they all stopped, you ok for starters ? Have you done any more ? Hope your well
Please will you make me one of these .cash here,.
I need one of these done. will you make me one mate ??
I’ve just paid £550 for one to be made ! And that’s finished Perspex and painted … 👍
When are you going to do the splash well? Mine’s stopped at the moment due to weather, managed to pick up a 6x3m party tent. EBay £70 so we can do a certain amount, still loads to do.cheers cal.
Hi any updates on the boat progress ?
I would suggest changing the gear box oil and impeller just for piece of mind and also greasing all the nipples, also coat the engine with anti corrosion spray.
One of the best stringer projects I’ve seen, nice job.
@@caseyarmstrong7064 thank you!
Brilliant video you made it look easy . Organised seams best way . Cracking videos 😊 👍😁🏴✌️
nice work.
that's good. Where is part 2?
THANK YOU FOR THIS VIDEO
I second this comment 😊 👍😁🏴✌️
What a cracking job can I ask how much resin you used on that bit 😊 👍🏴😁✌️
Interesting way to do it, great carpentry skills which I can really appreciate mate. I've always been told to glass the underside of the floor but I have read the other comments so maybe you will be proven right, can't judge myself. To me it's such an easy job I may as well just put a layer of chop on. Good luck enjoying the boat.
Great job there
Did you think about putting holes in each section so they could all drain to the bilge?
Enjoying your vids mate, when a transom is rebuilt I would resin soak both sides of the ply and also put a layer of chop on each side after the reson soak has slightly cured beforte bonding to the transom, gives you much better water proofing. Also add some fumed silica (cabosil) to your resion putty, it stops the putty sagging and keeps it in place. I will say you are pretty fast with your work and achive a lot in a day, there's a lot to be said for maximising fishing time, cheers..
Great video 👍just what I needed as I’m about to start same project just wondering where you got your fibreglass from ? Thank you
Thank you for your knowledge, my friend and well done.
Hey dude nice job I just got a Wilson flyer project boat and glad I watched this video 👊👊👊
Great work. Love following your project. Thank you!
Really interesting videos. Great the way you explain everything. Would love to do a project like this. Looking forward to the next step forward and the finishing.
Incredible - well done
Thanks for feedback
Great video doen 18 foot icelander gives me the comvdance to crack on tar
Great boats the Icelanders I looked at a couple before settling on the wilson. Good luck with it 👍
i put G4 sealer on the underside of the ply to make it water damp sweat resistant, as marine ply these days are nothing like the old marine ply
why did you not scratch up the plywood first ???? im doing a deck next week and i was going to scratch up the plywood for a good key
No need, the ply is porous so by being generous on the first coat of resin the ply soaks it up. Before starting the boat I did a test piece with a lay up of two layers of chopstrand, the ply was screwed to the bench and it split the ply when I tried to peel it off. If you score it up you may crate voids which will bubble and create an air gap when you're laying up. Good luck with your boat 👍
@@LoCalFIshing_ ok good points thanks
Very tidy indeed !
Nice !
Hi, just sub'd. Looking forward to catching up on the rest of the videos you've shared and seeing how you bring the boat back to life.
A Makita dude 😂😂🤣🤣👍👍👍👍

It's a garage compartment door from a caravan 👍
Nice job fella😅
Really enjoying following your restoration, you're knowledge of all jobs to be done is very impressive
Thanks! I'm glad you're enjoying the videos

Thank you! Glad you're enjoying the videos
Great video, just fiberglassing my deck this weekend.going to cut the cabin back next week.are you building an engine well on yours? Please say yes, and get the vid pronto.many thanks.
Nice getting the floor down in your boats a big step. I am building a splashwell and should be the next video 👍
Great video and tidy job. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching, glad you enjoyed it!
Starting the transom on my Wilson tomorrow… where did you get your chop strand from, also how did you template the transom? Thanks
@jamesrichards5998 I have a grp manufacturer local to me, so I've bought it all through them, I bought a box of 450gsm chopstrand and then just the required meterage of the dual weave. To template you can either use cardboard or a piece of ply and scribe it in then take a centre line and offset your pattern, but will depend which side you are doing it from as to what's easier. The stern is the same shape as the transom so you could hold a piece of cardboard up against the back and draw round the stern of the boat then reduce it by 15mm or so and you'll be somewhere close. Good luck 👍
@@LoCalFIshing_ thank you! I’m doing the same way as you just with the floor mostly intact and only cutting it where required, do you have a Facebook page?
Looks just like mine minus the foam.
How’s the fly bridge going. Great video,we’re up to the same stage the floor of our Wilson flyer.
Haven't done anymore on the flybridge yet, I've just finished the bulkhead/door but the weathers holding me up again. Hope you're managing to get on with yours.
@@LoCalFIshing_ just flow coating the stringers and rafters ,f@#%@## weather permitting, thinking of cutting the cabin back for more deck space as in angling and anxiety video. Great advice and videos cal
Hardly belt and braces as you put it Not sealing the bottom or edges of that ply to haunt someone else later , you can talk about messages in bottles but fibreglass isn't a plastic bottle .
Every edge of each board is completely sealed, there'll be no issues for anyone I the future. The principal is exactly the same it's a sealed container unless you introduce moisture it can't create its own.
Hi mate Yer quality job mate . Love the content, it don't matter how much it cost. As you can do as you please for what fits your needs, in comparison it's cheaper than a new boat. All the costings are negligible as you got what you want and strong and lighter than before. condensation it needs moisture, oxygen, its air tight I believe. Back in the 80s 90s as a small fast boat. In shore boat these where a good all round fishing boat, family day boat they just slapped a bit in a close sea. 👍🏴🏴🍻
Thanks, im glad you enjoyed watching, exactly it would be nice to have a new boat, but they're well out of my reach and thud way I'm able to make it how I want it. They're a good, stable fishing platform, so perfect for the family 👍
Surely you will get condensation in compartments. Cold sea ,warm day.
Only from the air trapped in each compartment which will be negligible and its all completely sealed so shouldn't be any issues. If you took an empty bottle an put a paper note in it sealed it up and threw it in the sea it could travel around the world and the note would still be dry.
@@LoCalFIshing_ yes, but this water will not be able to evaporate
@kubazgdza it doesn't need to as with the bottle analogy, and as I said in the video, we will have three access hatches, two in the deck and one in the cabin for storage.
agree
Amazing job, what's your estimated cost in materials up to this point and how many man hours roughly? Great work👍
It's difficult to say as I haven't really kept track of it but all the fiberglass etc is probably £5-600 and then a sheet of marine ply costs me around £70, I'll try and work it out as accurately as I can and pop it in one of the videos 👍
