A hot (30C+) rocky hike around the uninhabited island of Kalydon, sometimes referred to as Spinalonga in Elounda, Crete, Greece.
Not a hilly hike, but with some minor steep-ish inclines and in weather that was testing at times. The back-end of the island was extremely hot and unrelenting with little to no shade or breeze! (5 litres of water taken for a few hours hike.)
***Remember if you are hiking in hot weather, plan carefully, make sure people know where you are going and take plenty of food & water (most important 1.5 - 2 litres per hour of the hike + additional) and also a portable shade you if you need to stop and rest!. I found a large poncho to be particularly useful as it can be folded up easily, covers a large area approx. 3m sq. and something I normally carry it in my rucksack anyway.***
