The Tennessee Three: The 1960s Instrumentals | Full Recordings
มุมมอง 33414 วันที่ผ่านมา
There's very little information available to ME, that details the sessions and stories of these instrumentals. No story as to why some were chosen, no story as to who's idea it was for any of this. This is the comprehensive track listing for the instrumentals recorded by The Tennessee Three from 1961 - 1967. Starring Members: - Luther Monroe Perkins: Lead Guitar - Marshall G. Grant: Bass - W.S....
Johnny Cash 1962: The Released and Unreleased | Official Recordings and Outtakes
มุมมอง 645หลายเดือนก่อน
These numbers can't really be considered that of an "Outtakes" session given that most of them are more unreleased songs rather than actual outtake numbers. It's a shame we still don't have outtake reels form 62 through 64. Tracklist: • I Forgot More Than You'll Ever Know (2) • A Little at A Time • Were You There When They Crucified My Lord (2) • Johnny Reb • The Shifting Whispering Sands Part ...

The 61 sessions is a name I came up for the sessions Johnny attended to cut old, new, and future numbers. TH-cam deleted my draft for no reason so I'm typing this out as fast as possible. The session includes cuts of unreleased song and remake songs such as "So Do I" and "Folsom Prison Blues". At the same time, Johnny was recording for his 1962 album "The Sound of Johnny Cash" would make crosso...
Johnny Cash 1960: At The Grand Ole Opry | Full Performance Remastered
มุมมอง 468หลายเดือนก่อน
This is a Remastered version of Johnny Cash At the Grand Ole Opry in Novemeber of 1960. It's pretty unclear as yo the photo set we should've used for his 59/60 appearances since we're sure that by the time of the 2 appearances, Luther had his Jazzmaster as seen in photos. Setlist: November 5th 1960 • Five Feet High and Rising • Going to Memphis
Johnny Cash 1950s: The Demos | Part 2
มุมมอง 4212 หลายเดือนก่อน
Much like our last post, early recordings, and demos of song that may be recorded in the future. Some would make it, some would not. Here are a few of those songs. Tracklist • I Don't Care Enough • I'll Cry For You • When I Think of You • I Walk The Line • You're My Baby • Leave That Junk Alone
Johnny Cash 1950s: The Demos | Part 1
มุมมอง 5382 หลายเดือนก่อน
A collection of the early demos Johnny made through 1954. I'm unsure as to the recording dates of these particular songs. Demos were essentially recorded to give an idea of what the artist and producer wanted, where they could then mold and fine tune the song however they wanted. Tracklist: • Get Rythym • Train of Love • Country Boy • My Treasure • Belshazaar • He'll Be A Friend

I had such a hard time coming up with a title for this video, as it contains "unissued" materials alongside an official recording. Setlist: • On The Line • Roll Call • Rosanna's Going Wild • I Tremble For You *Unissued in this sense means songs that were not initially/officially released at or around the time it was recorded.

Fantastic! Amazing how close these live performances sounded to the released recordings.
Johnny Cash is a terrific performer, just the best. Does anyone else feel a tad uneasy when he says “ A shot a man in Reno - just to watch him die “ And the audience’s reaction ?
Video available at th-cam.com/video/2rmzXH45f-k/w-d-xo.html
I haven't listened to this since I was a kid-- I'm 63 now. Johnny was one of a kind for sure.
Nice
Thanks for this. Hope there's some Les Crane videos someplace...
You've done a great job again. Thanks!!
Where's "Five Feet High and Rising"?
Smash them Grand Ole' opera lights. Mr.Cash
Regarding "Bandana." I believe that it was first recorded in 1959. It had a B-side instrumental track called "Wabash Blues." However, these tracks were credited to "Tennessee Two and a Friend," as W.S. Holland had not joined and made up the Tennessee Three yet. So it would make sense that they are not included here in this video.
But there is a 1961 version
@shocktroop4206 Yes which is included here
Original vinyl copies for the released singles are rare, and promo copies seem to be easier to find - at least for me when I was able to get copies of "Blues for Two" and "Cattle Call" that looked like they were unplayed.
There's also another studio version of "Blue Bandana" just called "Bandana" without the chaotic second electric guitar. On a live recording, Johnny also announces it as "Bandana" instead of "Blue Bandana" th-cam.com/video/P1rVx4UjZWg/w-d-xo.htmlsi=MGvgZHmggHY1BaH- TH-cam says it's from the "Songs of our Soil" album, but Wikipedia doesn't mention it. Johnny's shouting is also pretty funny, and the clapping is pretty weird. All of those instrumentals are a bit strange to be fair, I wish we had more information on them haha. I really like "Cattle Call" with the overdub of Luther, though. Anyway, once again thanks for gathering these together and creating this amazing online archive, every upload is a treat I look forward to!
I think the song after So Doggone Lonesome is actually called "Blues for Two" At least according to this video: th-cam.com/video/X3LK2EwvI_Q/w-d-xo.htmlsi=0t2w0G9XRtfTtWyz The song after that is the one actually called "Jeri and Nina's melody" if I'm not mistaken. I've also seen it being called "Perkins Boogie" or "Luther's Boogie" not to be confused with "Luther played the Boogie Woogie", of course. There's a short recording of a live version, which is noticeably more up-tempo and energetic.
I was about to comment that

Once again another gold mining session. Thanks!!

Luther Perkins?
One of my all-time favorites. Had it on vinyl, cassette, CD and digital. Thanks for posting.
@@wcdonah You're welcome!
05.11.1960 dead Johnny Horton😢😢😢😢
Cash found out a day or two later of his friend's death.
Sounds great, although it's playing a little sharp.
this sounds so good now, wish someone would do this with the san quentin recordings, keep it up !
“Five Feet High and Rising” debuted on this album. He’d re-record it only once for 1988’s “Classic Cash”. Footage of the infamous flood for which he wrote the song can be seen in the “Hurt” music video.
classic, John at his best
Wow, Luther's tone is amazing here!
I have sailed the peaceful waters of the ocean deep and blue I held my breath and watched the western sunsets golden hue I've flown above the mountain peaks and valleys wide and green But you're the nearest thing to heaven that I've seen You're the nearest thing to heaven, yes, you are I have searched for happiness so long and far But my search for love was through, the day that I found you 'Cause you're the nearest thing to heaven, yes, you are I confess that I've been tempted by a luring magic charms When a smile was flashed my way, and stood before two open arms But I turned and walked away because I love you like I do You're the nearest thing to heaven, darlin' you You're the nearest thing to heaven, yes, you are I have searched for happiness so long and far But my search for love was through, the day that I found you 'Cause you're the nearest thing to heaven, yes, you are I have watched the silver raindrops fall to earth to cool the day Watched the rainbow at twilight when the clouds had blown away I love the pretty flowers, but they cannot buy the worth 'Cause you're the nearest thing to heaven on this earth You're the nearest thing to heaven, yes, you are I have searched for happiness so long and far But my search for love was through, the day that I found you 'Cause you're the nearest thing to heaven, yes, you are
Hoyt Johnson recorded this as "A Little More Like Heaven."

Fantastic audio and video of still shots! I had no idea my uncle even played with Johnny Cash. Couldn’t tell with 100% certainty but I’m pretty sure that is my Uncle Vern on bass with Mr. Cash. Vern Orr played bass, piano, violin on the Black Jack Wayne and the Hoffman Hayride Shows. His little sister (by about 20 years) is my mom and shes about ready to turn 92! More audio and detail info are on Country Music Hall of Fame archives website . KTVU-TV (Oakland, Calif.) should have all video/audio of BJW shows? Thanks so much!
The world needs this generations johnny cash
Idk if you mean a new original person or not. But Vince Mira got his start by covering Johnny Cash on the street. Look up him on GMA or Ellen from 2007. Thats when he was discovered and he does make original music too. But heres him doing Ring of Fire. th-cam.com/video/DK7pvya1yRg/w-d-xo.htmlsi=4bGTJDxBQFqeYx97
AND John Carter Cash produced his first record..
@AlexusDeanna_1 thank you, I'll look em up :)
They all seem to be ballads, you can tell how he changed Walk the Line, it was a lot slower,as he said it was meant to be a slow love ballad, it certainly made a difference speeding it up 😎
Treausures!
Love it ♥︎
Awesome thanks for uploading! Killer quality too.
These are on the bootleg volume 2 Album He’ll be a friend is a really good one would’ve been really cool to see him record the full song at SUN
really great these demo's. I think Stig is close to the truth. Do you have different information?
