In September of 2021 I ordered my first Laser add-on for my #Longmill MK1. I was so excited to finally be able to accessorize my carved projects with a laser engraving!
After 3 years and hundreds of projects later I am still just as excited today as I was 3 plus years ago when my first laser project was completed!
Laser technology has improved by leaps and bounds during this time, making the technology so much more “user friendly” than ever before. And, Opt Lasers has been a huge part of that advancement! They have done this by making a diode laser with Co2 like Power small enough to be a very valuable accessory for CNC users all over the world!
In this video I show you how to make a unique house plaque using our #AltMill Cnc outfitted with a high quality and very powerful #Bluelaser from Opt Lasers.
In this video you will see a complete project build start to finish! You will also be able to watch a Lightburn and VCarvePro Tutorial as well as a quick Opt Lasers PLH3D XT8 45 watt install on the AltMill!
60 minutes may seem like a long time but, if you are on the fence about whether to order your own #Optlasers for your #Altmillcnc then this might be 60 minutes that will help you decide if #Optlasers is right for you! Thank you for watching to the end!
Be sure to share your thoughts with us in the comments below!
And, don’t forget to “Like” and “Subscribe” so you don’t miss any future content.
Thank you all for your continued support of this channel!
Be sure to also check out the DUST HOSE BRACKET I created to hold your dust hose above your AltMill. Send me an email with your address If you would like to order. Cost is $37.50 plus Frt.
Remember: If you can think of it, you just might be able to make it! And “What if” you could make it on your own #LongMill from sienci.com!

    Hello thank you so much for your detailed and very instructive video, it’s seems to be a very good laser indeed… In the video you didn’t gave too much instructions about how the air assist is mounted, do you need an additional compressor to provide the air ? How the air assist works ? Do you need any extra accessories to make it work ? Thank you so much for your answer…

    • @BuckysCustoms
      @BuckysCustoms 3 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      Thank you for your questions! Yes, you need a separate pump and hose for the air assist. I added Links to description. You need to run the hose through your drag chains and mount your pump where ever is convenient. Thank you for your kind words and support!

    Hey Bucky, perhaps it's because your AltMill was one of the initial ones made, that the collet wrenches don't fit. Mine are sized exactly, so there was no need to buy any from a third party vendor. When swapping out bits requiring a different sized collet, I have found that an old toothbrush works wonders for clearing away any sawdust. Much better then smacking the parts around!

    Curious to how well does the dust vac remove laser funes? Also, why not use the Sienci Labs if only for engraving? As for fume extraction tips, you can 3D print a hose that fits through a window if you are interested. P.S. Enjoyed the way you incorporated the project, design and laser all into one video.

      The Shop-Vac worked perfectly! Although it was the only option at the time, i hope to improve on that in the future.The purpose of this video was to highlight the xt8 from Opt lasers as a viable option for the AltMill, and It performed flawlessly! The Sienci Labs laser is still in my shop and will still get used. Thank you for your support!

    It looks like this video is not for the low budget hobbyist and only helps you if you bought a "Longmill" . Judging from all the "in your face" branding, the Longmill vendor is clearly sponsoring this. You connect the mill to your computer "using the cable provided". What? I have a $100 kit bought from Zen Toolworks 10 years ago. No one "provided" me with anything". I wanted to know how I connect the mill to the computer. what driver board can gsender support. Does it use a USB port? a parallel port? There is mention of "COM" ports in gsender, does that mean RS232 serial ports ? ( they are even more rare now than parallel). Does gsender require a TB6560 style CNC driver board, or a USB breakout board? That's crucial because it is the sender software that decides to which port address to send the pulses and how to format them for output, and what drivers to call. I've been using a parallel card for 10 years with Mach3 till my motherboard suddenly started rejecting my parallel card, throwing a blue screen if the card is inserted. forcing me to reconsider hardware connection options. "Starting with the Basics of gSender" is not really basics if the hardware interface is never mentioned. It assumes you have money to buy a fully functional solution, not searching for a $5 USB breakout board on AliExpress. In my opinion this video is not for everyone, and certainly not for the budget conscious novice. The description has no pragmatic information and is a long winded adulation of the sponsor. My takeaway is I should not watch any Bucky's videos if I am not the proud owner of a LONGMILL.

    Hey, G,day Bucky's Customs, Mate this is an excellent series of inlay videos. I'm a novice and I'm learning. I haven't done an inlay project yet but I intend to do one for sure. Have you done a picture-style inlay with multiple wood types similar to a guy on TH-cam, Broinwood is the channel name I think? Are the principles the same regardless of the amount of inlay pieces and project size? I'm looking forward to seeing more in either this series or just inlay projects generally. Great work mate, Regards, Michael

      @BuckysCustoms 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey Michael! Thank you for watching my series! I had fun creating it and I learned a bunch! @Brownwood is the master! He is really good with the design. Which is key when creating multiple wood inlays. I have not done a picture style yet. Creating the vectors can be extremely time consuming but the end result can be amazing! Get good with the software you use and practice. You will be amazed at what you are able to create! Good luck!

      @michael-m-de1ck 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@BuckysCustoms G,day Bucky's Customs, Thank you for your reply, it's much appreciated. I assumed by the detail and amount of work that Broinwood puts into his boards, meant that he has some serious skills. I don't imagine myself doing inlays to that level for quite some time yet. I have Vectric V-Carve Pro and I seem to be getting to grips with it. I learn from guys like yourself on TH-cam, which is certainly most helpful. With some good guidance, I was able to do a 3D open-book project, which when it was complete it had bible verses carved into the pages, and it looked pretty good. If I can see somebody making a project from start to finish and saying what they're doing etc, I can usually adapt that to a project of my own. When it comes to a theme or subject for an inlay, How do you work out what type of reference picture will work? One other question, When it comes to cutting the male part of a deep inlay, How do you prevent the tool trying to take a dive down to its max level all in one hit? Thank you. Regards, Michael

    • @BuckysCustoms
      @BuckysCustoms 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@michael-m-de1ck Selecting a picture is really all about colors. Black and white are the easiest to work with but not always. I use clipart style pics because they are more defined and easier to get a vector around it. I use Vcarve Pro and I usually have limited issues. Learning the software is a big plus! My inlays are close to 1/4" in depth so I never really had an issue with it all in one pass. You can lower your plunge rate and speeds if you think it is too fast or you can change the tools pass depth by editing the individual tools parameters. do this by either double clicking the tool itself or using the Edit tab when making a tool path. Hope this helps

      I love it! It is perfect for me right now! No need for a cabinet saw yet. This one is plenty accurate and the mechanism works perfectly! I have tested it once and happy to say I kept all my fingers! I was shook up but all good. 48" Front to back (Including motor) and 69" overall width. Get yourself one!

      It does not interfere with the Sienci Labs 7w laser or the JTech 24W.

      @@BuckysCustoms I also have a question for you about what kind of setup you have in regards to a tablet or laptop that you use to run your gsender for the Altmill. I have not figured out which way to go. Do you have suggestions? Thanks Chris
