    What is the first solution? Technically only Hydrochloric Acid and Aluminum is needed to produce the Hydrogen but I'm guessing the Copper Chloride is for the Green colour. Spreading out the Aluminum foil also increases the area of Aluminum in contact so the displacement reaction happens faster and more Hydrogen is released quickly for a brighter Green glow.

      The first solution is distilled water, followed by hydrochloric acid and then copper chloride 😊

    A good fun experiment. I often put up the digits screen when the students start so that they can have some practice of getting some more accurate readings as they learn to use the equipment, then move on to the graph.
