    I only found out about half an hour ago that those really smooth sounding double stops in country are done by pedals and not by sliding. I've read a couple articles and watched a couple vids, and you're the first person to actually explain the pedals and levers properly. Great vid. Cheers. Would love to have a crack at one of these, but it's probably the most daunting instrument I've thought about having a go at so far... even worse than the hurdy gurdy.. I'm wondering how much set up and maintenance is involved in getting the mechanisms to change the pitches accurately. Nothing sounds worse than bending a string past the pitch you're aiming for 😁

    Hey Scott-I'm Alan, a NYC session guitarist producer writer-we are quite similar. Really nice playing & video, my man. Can I ask ya a couple things? How is it as a straight up attenuator w your Lil Walter? I have vintage deluxe, non reverb, AC15 , & Plexi 50. Sometimes it's nice to use the amps speakers, no? Fantastic video brother...

    • @ScottPoleyMusic
      @ScottPoleyMusic 12 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Thanks Alan. It does a good job as an attenuator, it’s still dynamic and has a great tone. Is it as good as without the attenuation? No, but it’s so handy to have and yes, you could mix up the cab at a lower volume, 100%.

    I like the Equater pedal. Really knocks down that high and sweetened the tone. I use a preamp with mid frequency cut and Frequency adjustment. Otherwise my Nashville 400 has this control. The Walter is clean and sweet but simple controls with limited range.

    • @ScottPoleyMusic
      @ScottPoleyMusic หลายเดือนก่อน

      I love it too Larry. The Walter does everything I need and sounds amazing live and in the studio. The EQuater offers more flexibility. I also use a telonics amp.

  • @Docsjeff

    We use Gary Carpenter on our live shows when he’s available. My guitar player & I bought a new Fender Tone Master Twin Reverb amp. The main reason was for weight. They weigh 33 lbs. The old Fender Twin Reverbs weighed close to 85-90 lbs.These new Tone Masters use Neo- Dynium lightweight speakers and they have no tubes.They engineered the sound of an Original Twin and “Modeled” it into a circuit board which greatly decreases the weight of the amp. They come with 2-12” speakers,but we took those out and installed a 15” Peavey Black Widow speaker in it. That modification sounds really good for a pedal steel guitar.

    • @ScottPoleyMusic
      @ScottPoleyMusic หลายเดือนก่อน

      I’d love to reconnect with Gary after all these years. I’ve used his steel on everything I’ve ever played. Oh man, I totally agree re old twins, I value not having a second hernia - hence using heads and split cabs for my live rig.

    That guitar was the reason I learned to play the guitar, after coming home from a party 1998 watching the legendary "The Dance" concert. Man...that sound of that guitar and Lindsey's playing got straight into my heart. After a huge search on the slow internet these days, I found out that this is a RT M1. Never would spent that much money because I don't have your or Lindsey's skills. But I wanted that guitar so badly, built it in a 12 year project (interrupted by several issues and of course many frustrating moments during the building process) by myself just for myself. Had contact with Rick a few times, asked him for the possibility to buy parts. He always was very kind and answered, not revealing the mysteries on that guitar or selling single components. ;) I finally finished my project about four weeks ago and I am supersuper happy with the result. Does not sound 100% like the original, but the feeling, the weight, the shape is so comfortable, playing this thing for hours and hours.When I win the lottery, first thing I am going to buy is an original Model1. ;) Great video man, thx for your time! (btw: your band is phenomenal! "I'm so afraid" would suit well to your songlist on stage) Greetings from Germany!

    I would add few points, the acoustic sounds were much better under firmware 1.17 which was the very first one, all up grades after that made acoustic sounds worse. Its also essential to send all acoustic sounds direct to the PA. There is also a virtual capo or any tuning you want that can be saved to tuning knob { google it}. If you were also able to pick the guitars you liked on each firmware update it would be great because some sounded better some sounded worse, but you cant. You can rollback firmware but you need old windows 7 to do it.

    • @ScottPoleyMusic
      @ScottPoleyMusic 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks Kris! Both, lots of listening and studying. I don’t think of scales when I’m playing, I try and go where the energy in the room / what I’m feeling that day. I also learned a lot of solos from different instruments growing up, sax, sitar, synths etc.
