András Schiff plays Schumann's Kreisleriana and Études Symphoniques
Very insightful interpretations of two of Schumann's greatest piano works. Recorded in 1991.

András Schiff - Bach - Chromatic Fantasy and Fugue BWV 903 - 1989

András Schiff plays Bach's Chromatic Fantasy in Fugue, recorded in 1989. Very interestingly, he uses the pedal, unlike in most of his recent recordings of Bach.

Schiff never fails to impress us with his heartfelt rendition of the Italian Concerto! Recorded in 1989.
András Schiff - Bach - French Suite No. 5 in G major, BWV 816 - 1989

András Schiff plays Bach's French Suite in G major, BWV 816 with his absolute gorgeous tone and deep understanding of the music. This video was recorded in 1989, and it is definitely the best ever recorded version of this beautiful French Suite.
My god, quanto est c'è dentro la danza in mi minore... 😢😢😢
2024 now. Haven't changed my opinion even one bit. András Schiff's musicianship has grown and flourished in the many years I've been listening to him. First time was 1988, Melbourne, Australia. I was mesmerised then - and am even more so now, particularly when hearing him play J S Bach. Many thanks for this repeat performance of two great Schumann works.
Great to see early footage of Andras.
It would be wonderful if the high-pitched part could also match the multi-color changes of the low- pitched part..😊
the Sarabande is gold
Like the definition of a surrealistic meeting: Sir Andras and Yuja. But it turns out quite well....
this might be bach himself, or just random pianist
A wonderful Bach performance that is mellow but full of musicality. There is no pushy formality.
Simply the best. Based also on a profound understanding of German romantic culture and literature, essential for any Schumann interpretation.
So hot! Yuja looks great, too.
Beautiful rendition of both masterpieces....
Обожаю!гений пианист!🌹
Great combination and lovely sound here. Thank you.
Слухати виконання піаніста, музиканта А. Шіффа і отримувати неабияке задоволення, збагачення духовне. Цікава інтерпретація піаніста, надзвичайне туше дає змогу забути усі проблеми, стан війни в Україні 💙💛
Still listening tonight and this is THE Best version I have heard.
48:31 Purely magical. The melodic line, the second voice in tandem, the buildup, the climax and then the pleading 2nd voice. My God😢😢😢
Yuja Wang is THE best.
I will say something more later. I am just overcome by this performance. I love Schumann's works and love how Mr Schiff understands them totally. Immaculate i performance in every possible way.
Tränen in meinen Augen und Schauer über den Rücken. Bach über alles!
I wish Verbier wouldn’t pair musicians this way, but it has always been doing this. They pair great pianists together for 4-hands, no matter whether their playing characters match or not. All they do is put two celebrities together so the names attract people. Yuja Wang is a very good pianist, and Maestro Schiff is unparalleled in every sense. Not saying that Yuja Wang is “not qualified” to play with Schiff, but their personality, playing style and tone colors are just too different…….

My favorite Symphonic Etudes No.11,3 ,7,,8!!! One must be a master of pedal and fancy to play 11 convincingly !
And I think Schiff is!
WONDERFUL !!!
excellent rendition of such a delightful piece.
I love Yuja Wang.. she so hot :)
Awww they are so different, yet they remind us that we're all the same...
Anybody knows what place it is where he's playing?
I would place Andras Schiff in the same category as Glenn Gould - magnificent!
Seems they didn’t agree on the rhythmic phrasing.
Wauw, this is.....another level.
she can dress however the hell she chooses, as long as it doesn't disguise a lack of artistic standards (ex: Khatia Buniatashvilli)...but just look at the size of those pumps!! I wonder how anyone could be comfortable walking on stage in those, but then I'm just a guy, so what do I know...
Beautiful thanks for this beautiful special listening time

I love this rendition the most, very well balanced, not to overly indulging , and it makes sense.
미스터 빈 😉
25:27 I need more contrast from Schiff here. I feel like he understands Schumann deeply. But knowing his style, this is as much violent as he could muster. It has to be much more unsettling. But the whole Etude Symphoniques were SUBLIME.
Older Schiff from that video plays better
At least the Allemande. But the trills and everything, still the same, lol
Superb interpretarion, far better than his more recent ones( I heard one which is abnormally slow!). Besides, he avoids inserting the five posthumous variations after Etude VI, a very reasonable decision...
I much prefer the young Schiff. He was fascinating. He has become so meticulous and pécieux that he has kind of lost his spirit and soul. My two cents
@@PhedraBcn he says he aged like a good wine)
@@PhedraBcn : That may have been the case for a little while, but listening to him now in 2022, his spirit has returned to fill him. Audible in everything he plays, but it is a more mature spirit and - I believe - deeper and wiser. I love listening to him, probably more than I do to any other pianist - apart from Elisabeth Leonskaja who is my heroine.

Reminds me of Victor Borge's page turner schtick.

some have considered this the greatest work for the piano ever written.
Which one? There are two works here...
So what!!!
The only time I have seen sir András Schiff with glasses! He usually has all the piano music in his head.
Maybe he doesn't need them to see the music.
Wow you had 1 job to do and .....priceless .....btw that was the line up of the great and good....
As always great to see the best together ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
A better name might have been Yuja Wang playing with Andras Stiff.
If you were trying to be funny, then try harder...
Oh dear.. welcome to elementary music school
