Our hometowns from childhood are likely to change everywhere. Some for better, some for worse. Thankfully, Naples has changed in terms of growth and prosperity, vs. crime ridden and slums. The cost of living is subjective to where you want to live in Naples. You can live in a beautiful condo priced in the 200's, brand new homes that start in the 400's , Caymas where homes start in the 1M's, or beach condos that start in the 6M's. There's something for everyone. I'm sorry the memory of your hometown Naples doesn't reflect todays Naples. I bet the kids growing up now, will love their memories of todays Naples.

It is SkySail which is just past Orange Blossom Ranch of Naples. Not quite as far as Ave Maria. Have you been to this community? Would you like some more information on it?

HOA fees are optional. If you don't want professional management of your community, opt for a different one.

We get snow, well what looks like snow at least. 3rd St has bubble machines on their street lights. Kind of does the trick. :)

Jazmine Starr Your words are So Lovely. Profound. A friend un Naples made it through. I'm saddened and disappointed at the materialistic focus on opulence. There are serious flaws to equate everything to the posh digs. So much should he have been gleaned from the ordeal. Lessons are being Lost. Thank you for a well said reality check. Baffled by shallow conversations that ensued.

Maybe it makes more sense and more cost efficient to repair and replace when needed vs. something that will withstand 155 mph winds. It will be nice once completed.

@@shannon_cantu How many Pier repairs and replacements since 1900 ?! Many ! So cost efficient and nice design would be reinforced concrete which will stand still for good, but that costs $$.. Build it good, not weak, cheap and stupid ! This area gets high surges and king tides sometimes...

Bamboo Princess… yes, piers can be rebuilt. But for many of us it’s not just a crappy pier. It’s a place that many of us have spent countless memories on. Taking walks on it with our children. People married at sunset on. Embraced one another on. Gave us a bird’s eye view of God’s creation beneath us, blessing us with the divinity of Mother Nature. Empathy may be difficult, but I pray that you find compassion as those of us here are picking up the pieces of our lives, that a staple of our community is another to add to the list of things lost.

Like 90% of the Naples area, this community was unaffected by IAN.

The Naples Pier has seen many hurricanes over the years. With the pilings still in place, rebuilding will be much easier. The Fort Myers Pier pilings are still standing but that's the only thing left.

This is SkySail by Neal Communities. It's 35 minutes from the beach in Naples.

Are you currently looking at properties in the Naples area?

A majority of the coastal homes and several blocks inland did take in some water. Some of the newer properties that were built on higher ground were fine.

@@ksm1985 That area is the crown jewel of Naples. It will be better than ever. People were dining on 5th Ave South the day after the hurricane. 2 days after, the outdoor patio at Verginas was full of diners. Cars lined the streets like a normal day. The hustle and bustle of 5th Ave will be back in no time. It's the homeowners that will suffer a little longer.

Hi Randy, yes I have. The coastal communities are affected. The rest of Naples is unaffected. Patrons were dining on 5th Ave the day after IAN. The community in the video above was not affected at all.

Keeps the bears out too! Easier to keep the pool clean as well.
