Niles Abel sound checking drums
มุมมอง 1686 ปีที่แล้ว
Here is Niles Abel doing a short sound check of the drums with a snippet of one Bernard Purdie’s famous grooves “The Purdie Shuffle” made even more popular by Led Zepplin’s drummer, John Bonham in the Led Zeppelin song Fool in The Rain. This was recorded with just a cell phone propped up on a table about 20’ away. The only thing mic’d is the kick. Everything else you hear is raw acoustic and no...

@@alexneagu8212 Thanks man. Had a blast drumming with you guys. So awesome to see you take home Coats’ first Sanford.
The SUPERSNARE in his natural environment.
😂
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Did you march? You got them chops!
Yep. Bluecoats Snareline 2007, 2008. Rhythm X 2008, 2009. Capital Regiment 2001-2005, Magic of Orlando 2006. i2 Indoor 2005, 2007.
@@nilesabel7279 woah!
@@nilesabel7279 best years of dci in the 2000s in my opinion.
@@jeromieb038 yeah man I feel like DCI peaked my interest in about 2014. My favorite is like late 80’s - 2014 haha.
I know that look behind you before shredding the fuck out of that feature was due to ptsd from having to share the field with “the predator”, or the visual tech for the color guard. I still have nightmares about that guy, I feel like he was one bad day away from massaging the entire snare line to death
Love it!
What is that it looks concert sounds marching
James Fishing and percussion I put a Emperor X on top. Cranked the top and bottom. The day before it was even higher but I blew a lug casing. It’s actually still broken here but I just played it anyway. Tapped the snare wires a good amount for more articulation and did a lot of dampening on the top and bottom head.
Yeahhhh boy
🖤🤘🖤
Nixx616 thanks for the love! Rock on! 🤘🏼
Anytime! 🤘
Bad. Ass.
Nice! Keep up the good work! That drummer is a bad ass!
Anthony Mosora, That drummer told me he wants to hang out with you next time both you guys are in town!
Sounds good. I'm looking forward to it!
THATS MY DAD
hello ive waited here for jew
DR G 😂
very nice, is this utah?
John Garrison, Las Cruces, New Mexico. That's the Organ Mountains behind me. Thanks for digging the video!
0:19 is just pure class. Great writing.
Thank you man!
I think there's very few that realize how difficult this spree is to execute in this manner of sound quality, technique, and dynamic control at this tempo. You're truly a marvel when it comes to rudimental drumming my friend. Absolutely exceptional.
Thank you very much my friend! Not the greatest run.. A few flat flams but hey.. I hadn't really played in 7 years or so and I made it up that day bored with a broken foot. See the crutches in the background haha! Anyway thanks again buddy!!
Niles Abel Wow i didn't even realize the flat flams. That just shows you have a great attention to detail. No problem! and wow that's pretty impressive for a broken foot. Keep up these videos I'd love seeing more if you're ever inclined again
+Kaka carrot yeah at like :10 there's like 2 flat flams :/ but yeah I might make another video of something. I appreciate the interest!
Niles Abel Ooh the book report thingies? Yeah I think I see what you mean now. Well they are so fast that the average person would hardly hear them i guess haha And no problem! (:
such great timing and great technique and execution. I used to wonder what you sounded like outside of the line when I was a little fanboy in 2008. My curiosity is happily satisfied.
Thanks man! For the record, I sounded and looked much better when I was 21! (Was much skinnier too..) haha but I'll take this for 28 year old hands haha!
Niles Abel haha yeah best "old man hands" i've seen for sure trust me haha
Too much playing not enough nap block
I posted the wrong part of this video. After I put my sticks in, I eat 27 chicken wings, drink 11 beers and take a 3 hour nap before waking up to go to a birthday party at Buffalo Wild Wings.
Straight cash. A little side note. Warmup 2008, finals. I was a bit nervous...the way you approached the opening A/B split buzz part, your body language, let me know everything was going to be all right. Thank you for that Niles.
Thanks Mac. You're welcome for the calm vibes that night. And thank you for letting me be apart of those lines. I was a bit nervous as well leading up to the start of that lot, but as soon as you gave me the tempo on the met, it all washed away and I felt safe like I was where I was supposed to be and doing what I was supposed to be doing... for one more special night.. I'll never forget.
Well look what I just ran into ! Thanks for posting this. It was always a large time to watch Bryan play and lead vocal 'back in the day.' I haven't had the chance to see him play live in a 25 or 30 years? To this day there has only been two notable musicians come out of Rensselaer Ind that you will hear buzz about when you talk bands & musicians, Bryan of course was and is mentioned to this very day.
Thanks man!! We have some recordings coming out soon!
these guys are freakin rad! love em!
Rockin'!!!!
