Dave Niehaus/Seattle Mariners Highlight Reel
มุมมอง 23วันที่ผ่านมา
I was fortunate enough to have seen a bunch of these highlights live. Many of the rest I saw on TV or heard on radio. Dave was one of a kind and we were so lucky to hear his fantastical calls for many years in Seattle.

As an original Met fan, from then to now, this album now gathering dust somewhere in my vinyl collection, brings home all my childhood memories of that miracle summer in 1969 when the Mets arose and took the National League by storm. What a wonderful compilation of radio highlights from some of the legendary NY Giant and Dodger baseball moments from Red Barber, Russ Hodges and the thru line heritage to the Mets incredible trio of voices, Lindsey Nelson, Bob Murphy and Ralph Kiner. At one point, I could practically recite their calls from this album by heart. It's like replaying and listening to an audible history lesson I participated in. I was at Shea for some of their biggest moments that year, taking over first place in the NL East and Game 3 of the World Series. Thanks for sharing.

Really fantastic talent in this orchestra, full of Met Opera and New York Philharmonic players; Martin Smith. Charlie Russo. Elaine Douvas. Mark Gould. Ken de Carlo. Just look at the list.

12:38 Nice documentary...Even though this is the 1970 new York Knicks championship highlights, it's nice to hear the great late Johnny most commentating the 1969 Celtics vs Knicks...I wished there were a game or 2 or a highlight documentary talking about the last 2 Celtics championship teams out the 11 championship they won in the 1960s in 1968 and 1969 featuring Johnny most...That would be interesting as well

There are several versions of this album. We had an original which, as this audio has it, opens with a solo french horn and includes the Virginia Slims jingle (I don't remember if there is a song credit on the back of the jacket). Then there is another online which opens with the french horn but doesn't include the Virginia Slims jingle (obviously for copyright reasons). I recently purchased another LP in perfect condition and it does have the Virginia Slims jingle (with a song credit on the back of the jacket) but the album opens up, not with a french horn, but an organ playing the old funeral dirge. Interesting. It does seem more fitting for the organ rather than the french horn.

Congratulations. Few have the chutzpah to attempt this. Mangiome wouldn't do "Feel,Of s Vision" on his early 70s concert in the Bay Area (he told me) since he wouldn't have Marvin Stamm. Few solo pieces are more daunting. This is the very first cover I've heard. Bravo!
