I am way late to this video, but I just pulled this game out recently to play it again and could not figure out what that "backdrop" was really for... and I am glad to see that no one else does either. Fun times!

I prefer the artwork (more realistic) from the original Libertalia but I like the extension of roles of the new one. Question: With the original Libertalia, when you play the same character, there is a number on the card that would differentiate two identical cards. I do not see these extra numbers on the new cards. How do you rank the cards if the character played is the same?

Noob question - I would assume wood bits are less environmentally bad than plastic ones? Does anyone know if that is in fact the case?

Jason is good. Can guarantee 7 damage per turn using alpha-5s/zordons as your attached heroes and filling your deck with heroes. Your opponent isnt going to let the grid sit there with 3-6 heroes out there anyways. They must battle at some point to use disposable/attitude. Also, might luck out and get the location that also does damage for hero plays/battles.

I don't see any reason to change the rule. The original game is perfect. I'll have to try it out.

Thanks! Honestly this looks as good as the deluxe, and I see no reason to pay more. I was worried the retail version would be significantly more crappy. The wooden components look great, I love the multi layer boards to hold cubes, lazy susan works (neither version has a lid to hold components so meh), and as for the extra planets and corporations... I've yet to play a game enough to reach the point where I need more content than the base game has, so I'm not terribly worried. I would be EXTREMELY surprised to see my friends clamoring for more varied planets 😛 With this and The Isle of Cats I plan to acquire, I'll be well equipped in polyomino fun for a while. 😀

Any word on the quality of the sequels compared to the OG? I’ve heard the follow up quality had gone downhill and not worth it

Thank you for explaining everything so well. My family loves playing board games especially during birthdays and holidays when everyone can get together. My 10 year old nephew especially love board games because it makes him feel like a grownup when he’s able to comprehend and carry on a game with the adults. This game would be perfect for him.

Hey, thanks for the video! From experience, what happens a lot of time is that the players will have a pretty good idea when they have reached the independence threshold, and after that there is a lot more intensity to the competition. Especially for the special victory point cards (which are like Longest Road in Settlers of Cataan), since taking one thing from another player can cause ownership of the special victory point card to shift. And of course, turn order is -really- important in that case. So the last couple of rounds are often where the most intense competition happens. But since there can be a chance of a volcano up to the next to last round, you will occasionally have a situation where there is a big natural disaster while players are competing, dropping them -below- the independence threshold, and they have to collectively scramble to get the game back to where -someone- can win, while at the same time trying to make sure it is not -someone else- who does. There's a lot of nuance and a combination of playing the game and playing the table.

I literally feel bad for anyone who says their favorite Decepticon is Skywarp.

Tier lists are always nice. Especially nice to see others thoughts on heroes and such.

Uh. Not too crazy about this new artwork, really liked the subdued style of the original.

Looks interesting, will have to look for it when it comes out.

I too think this game is great. And if you like chaos and cinematics, I recommend trying Stationfall.

I have galaxies and that is good. But I am enjoying the hell out of tiny epic dungeons. I can't believe what an amazing dungeon crawl it is. I thought given the small box and component limitations would be very compromised but it's actually incredibly robust and very fun. I heard Pirates is excellent as well so I think that's my next acquisition
