Corsair Hydro H50-1 Custom Water Cooling Loop Modification
มุมมอง 134K8 ปีที่แล้ว
A attempt to create a custom water cooling loop using the pump and radiator from a Corsair Hydro H50-1. When my Corsair H50-1 stopped preforming, I decided to replace and tubes and coolant. I documented the experience.

I'm about to sell/donate my old H50 but seeing you do this vid, I may well try this myself to save the future owner the hassle. It may not be worth a lot as the CPU/Mobo spec is limited and incompatible with newer boards but better than going into landfill. BTW, my local recycling centre didn't want it, surprisingly.. The copper base is probably worth £5😯👍
Cant see anything, your back lighting sucks.
Nice work! I recently uploaded a video where I do something similar but with a few updates. I hope you don't mind that I used your video as a reference. Mine is in Spanish, but I added subtitles so that anyone can follow along. I'd love for you and others to check it out and let me know what you think!
whats the diameter of the silicone tube you used sir?
thank you for doing this i was thinking about doing this i have a few laying around i'm going to try it
Where arethe links?
How remove air inside the loop?
You still have it ?
Never understood why AIO do not have clear tubing or allow you to change them without modding it.
4:06 what song is this?
perfect video dude, this is very helpful !!!
Any leaks?
hello? what kind of water?
Would you think that the integrated pump could be strong enough to be used in a system with a 360mm radiator? I have an AIO with a 120mm radiator and was thinking if it was possible to increase the radiator or add an additional radiator using this technique.
A little late but yes it would my guy. The pump is usually the same throughout a given brand and model. But the size of the radiator and cost changes. So your good to go. Be sure to add proper coolent.

Where's the link?
London weekend television 😀😁👍🌐🗻
Where can I get that container ?
not for beginners definitely
Those stock tubes are the worst, most inflexible tubes. I hate them.
I know its an older video but was wondering if it's still working? I've wanted to do this but a lot of people have told me it won't work and if it does it's not going to last long.
It still working, running now in a 24/7 server. Mileage will vary with things like this and I did need to change up the fluid to something anti corrosion in it. Otherwise it's been perfect.
Wonder if you could change the radiator for a 240mm?
i have same ide ... well have you done it ??
Corosion
I just bought exactly that same reservoir from China to mod an old Corsair AIO. Glad to see it works just fine. This is a low cost way to recycle a perfectly good AIO pump head for use in an expanded customized system. You can easily run two radiators this way tied to a single reservoir. Many older PC cases don't allow for the newer 240/280 or 360MM radiators. In my case, I can fit a 120MM on the back of my PC case and 140MM up front for 260MM of cooling that I couldn't otherwise fit without a buying a new case.
is it do able? i have 120 AIO that my plan is to mod it to open loop by adding a water reservoir and change to 240mm radiator
@@hendrasiswanto805 That should be no issue at all. 120 vs 240mm AIOs use the same pump head, only difference is the radiator. The most difficult part is getting the flow started, the loop completely full, and all the air out. I've found the easiest way to do this is to connect everything, fill the reservoir, and hold it above the pump head, using gravity to help the suction side get things going. Once you have good flow, you can put everything where it belongs in the case and add more water to the reservior as needed.
@@bluethumbdiy4735 hi I have minor problem, my open loop is in reverse. when my pump suck directly from radiator and dump hot water to reservoir it has no problem, but when it suck from reservoir it don't flow fastly and make my CPU overheating and force shutdown. is it ok to reverse water flow that suck directly from radiator like that?
@@hendrasiswanto805 It doesn't matter how the water goes through the radiator as long as long as you get good flow. If your water is overheating, and you have a good flow rate, then you don't have correct airflow across the radiator. Sometimes AIOs don't have enough power to flow correctly, which could be an issue.
Dude your volume is too low... I had to turn my speakers all the way up.
DONT BUY ****WARNING**** Don't buy Corsair, worst client service and poor quality product. For some reasons I have bought their product for a while on Amazon. Forget getting any type of refund or replacement. If they do it takes a month. I ordered a Pump and res combo recently, set to ship october 12th, 2020. On the 13th I asked them if it was shipped, I get a response that the order doesn't exist. I took a screenshot of the fund on my credit card and the order number and sent it. Two days later I get a response that yes it was being prepared for shipment. 5 days later, I ask them about the package as there is no signs of it being shipped yet, asking for a refund at this point I'm done. Receive a response that they can't refund as the package is being prepared. I sent back a message saying I want a refund now the item was not shipped and they can cancel it and give me a refund now two days later still no response. Go Razer instead if you want a gaming fidelity company, at least with Razer I never had any issues. This is not my first bad experience with Corsair they won't change the way they threat their customers, they don't deserve our business.
i tried to make the same with my H60 without reservoir but i didnt had goog flow fromt the pump, dont know why, my idle temp was 60c and the uper top of the radiator was cool, so was the out tube from the radiator. i thought the pump was warking well, i have no clue what went wrong.
Sounds like air trapped in radiator.
im wanting to do this with the kraken z63 but i havent seen anything ever mod nzxt aios
The water will lead to chopper oxidation :(
Hi is it possible to connect these series of tube to a gpu water block? Thanks!
great video mate got same cooler on my x58 board cooling my x5650 definitley will do same mod
can we add a gpu with water block in the loop and may be a bigger radiator or an additional radiator....?
Great video. Thanks!
can you build non reservoir version?
non reservoir way it connects directly between pump and radiator like it was before
You need an anti corrosive add on, else the aluminum radiator and copper plate will corrode. Best to get an ekwb premix!
Thank u verymuch sir
Will doing this invalidate my warranty?
Yes for sure.
How does it work?
great video but can you remember if you felt the plastic of the pump when cutting through the tubing as I may be doing something similar in the future and am curious as to if you could tell how deep your cut was ? thanks
When it comes to do mine...probaby soon, I will be buying a slightly larger copper radiator to replace the aluminum one my corsair H100i comes with.
non si vede niente sei in controluce deficiente !
By undoing the screw between the two nipples in the pump module, the nipples can be easily pulled out. They have two o-rings each. No need to fiddle around with the knife or any other tools on/in the pump module.
anyone else cringe when he was resting on the radiator, AWESOME VIDEO BTW
Sven Carlson no
Maybe my understanding of the tube dimensions are off, but what does 6mm x 8mm 1/4 mean? I thought 6mm was inner dimension and 8mm was outer.
Jesus christ on a cross some people are anal. What could hurt u in the liquid. U really believe they would use anything corrosive in the liquid idiot?
Thanks mate had the exact same idea as you I upgraded from a kuler 620 to a h100i gtx after a long time using my kuler, left it in a box in my garage for a long time decided to upgrade my GPU with the nxzt adapter as I'm using a reference gtx 1080 the temps are pretty bad, but my kuler had managed to get a blockage in the barb of the rad cleaned that out and did the same thing you did, would've just gone out and got a new one without this vid giving me some confidence in doing this

The next time you make an educational video please speak a little bit slow, 'couse you're speaking too fast, seriously ? I don't think that there is necesity for that, it's like if somebody were waiting for you or something like that....I had to put the subtitles, despite that, great video.
FYI: the cooling fluid in these units is usually under some pressure. Be mindful of this, you could get this crap all over you! Dunno exactly what all the ingredients are, but probably not good for your eyes, or your internal organs.
