For Rock Hounds By Rock Hounds. Hi! So my main goals for starting this channel are as follows:
1. I love rocks
2. To share rocks and get help with identification since I am not a geologist (but maybe should have been)
3. I would also like to try to share experiences! I need 50 subscribers so that I can make live videos.
4. I would like to try to make live videos in areas that I have cell service of rock hunting, so those who can't, can interact and still have that fun available to them.
5. I would love to have live discussions on rocks to tumble choices with others and see what we can learn together on our adventures!
6. My best contact info. TheRockHuggerChannel@gmail.com

Friday Night science experiment gone WRONG!!
Absolutely beautiful.
I love this! I can't wait to shape and shine a piece of this.
Looks like Dallasite 😁
Epidote and prehnite with the quartz vein I think
@VancouverIslandDallasite I'm going to go look your videos over and see how it compares and check those out in my books! Thank you...
That is the Lord’s work of art !
Isn't it! Down to the beautiful rocks. So greatful to be able to show some of this wonder to others!
That's a real beautiful agatized petrified wood !! You have the best stuff!!
I have wondered if this was wood. I was leaning towards a jasper/Agate tho. The woods vary so much in Oregon, it's really hard for me still to be sure.
Woooow
They are amazing 👏.
Beautiful green!!
Looks like Jade!!
Not Jade i think that jade tends to run from greens to whitish green/ yellow and stays milky/clear, this is a plume/moss type agate.
Woooow
Nice slices!!
I love petrified wood, good work.
Thank you 😊! I'm new to cutting open rocks. The first one was given to me and I was kinda thinking it's a possible picture layered jasper. The second with all of that opal/Agate goodness in there.
Amazing agates!!
Beautiful colors!!
Cool 🎉🎉🎉
Amazing!! Where did you find those specimens?
Oregon and Washington mix. The ones with rounded shapes are from the Columbia River Areas. The ones that are angular and the agates are from central eastern Oregon.
I love it, congratulations!!
That's so cool.
This one formed so different!
Beautiful specimen!!
@elhuntersac.916 I was so Happy! I felt like I made the right choice for the way to cut this one.
Beautiful!!
Thank you! 😊
Really beautiful material!!
@BlindSquirrelRocks-dv9lc It repaired itself quite Spectacularly!
Wow!
It's a pretty one! Very unique. The blue actually goes to purple in the right light angle.
Woohoo 🥳 congratulations I am so happy for you. Thank you 🙏
@PapasGems Thank you! I love it, Love it, love it! ❤️ I have not found a name yet tho, it's being secretive .
Awesome thank you for sharing 🎉
Thank you for watching! Sometimes it's just so peaceful.
Certainly not Mexican crazy lace.
Nope, this grows in Oregon and Washington.
@@TheRockHuggerChannel It is not crazy lace. There is only one and that is mexico.
@donaldkasper8346 That's what I know too! It's also a very beautiful rock, it may be my favorite. I have not completely decided yet.
@@TheRockHuggerChannel Laminar hydrothermal jasper.
@donaldkasper8346 Ooh! Thank you. I just went and researched. I get laminar now I think. This took quite sometime to form those beautiful multi color layers. Maybe even the colors could be explained by exposure to different concentrations of the same minerals at different times? I think maybe it must have formed farther from the actual vent activity but still close enough to be a mud puddle everytime? Now what is gonna make it all shades of purpleish from the blue side of the wheel to the pink?
broken dinner plate?
Lol! Looks like it, but no it's not. It's a rock with a Great pattern. There was slicing and dicing going on tho!
Brecciated! Love it!
I wonder how this happens?! Did the silica bust open the rock or was it more like a pocket of pebbles sitting there and it just flowed into it!
@@TheRockHuggerChannel The jasper was whole once, but broke into pieces likely from pressure of sorts, then re-silicated back together. Its super cool, like a mosaic!
Thank you! It's had me wondering, I think because I've come across conglomerates which are fairly self explanatory. I actually left most of this type I encountered behind thinking well it's not very solid looking. Lol Oregon rocks!
@@TheRockHuggerChannel Sometimes it takes cutting it open to realize how awesome it really is! Nice saw too btw!
@OregonCoastAgates Thank you! I am loving it! It's being a great size for most of what I found so far. I think I've figured out it's max point but I haven't taken measurements yet. Surprisingly I also haven't had to flip anything yet either. I think I'm going to test it on some obsidian here soon too.
I did not expect that beautiful green like that!
It is Very Green! I'm wondering if it may be a clear green opal possibly. No flashy but a common opal with actual clearness!
Wow , that’s material is beautiful! Thank you for sharing 🎉
@@PapasGems Thank you!
Looks like you are getting along with your new saw quite nicely! Beautiful agate slices!!❣
@BlindSquirrelRocks-dv9lc I am starting to get the hang of it! Definently had some learning curves tho and I am sure a few more.
Can't you do both?
@wormi449 I could keep slicing like the first piece until I see something but if I do I think I'm risking not having a full pattern display for the long cut. I was really hoping for the platform to show me something! Plus it could actually be simply not Agate too and just pure chalcedony. And then ... lol
@wormi449 So far I have 3 votes to slice it long ways, 3 votes to keep with the current slice and 1 vote to stay as is.
Oh yes Moss Agate 🤩😍✌️😎
Where along the river is this?
This is along the Oregon side and actually the Washington side to. @ Almost any of the Wayside parks or pulloffs especially once your between maybe Hood River and Pendelton. This one is Rufus Landing by the John Day dam and is very popular also with wind surfers and campers.
Kadisscope rock
You found any agates up there yet?!
That new saw has opened up some interesting horizons for you! Fantastic cut!!😍
It blew me Away! Whenever I've heard someone say calcite in the past, it's always seemed to be kinda leaning towards a leaverite category type of rock but... If it's gonna possibly give me bands like those beautiful LSA's! I'm gonna have to start it, it's own 🪣 .
I love your accent 😂❤
Thank you but Lol I just finally caught myself saying something like "You guys", just the other day. I had to look around to see who was talking to me!
It's like a pro wrestler having his mask remove
Looks like an ancient steak
TBone!
is that opal
@octavioalatorre8957 I wish I knew these things for sure. My best guess is that the clear areas are chalcedony, the white inclusions may be??? The sand areas seem to be more of a possible jasper or limestone maybe? I've been doing some research on the area I found it but nothing much conclusive yet.
Nice!
Nice
😊
This John say that
That happens a lot of times
First time for me. Everything is good. No damages. Rock is safe 😀
I was scared about the electrian you got to power it up. Might had heat stroke before he did.
Thankfully no wire rerouting just plug n play! Dang safety buttons everywhere on this thing!
Correction! Not a bloodstone. More than likely some very green and red Moss Agate tho! AND! The saw did have gear oil in it already! There was a gasket already to stop leaking and all I needed was the Teflon tape. Shew!😅
Not showing this to my wife I need a new roof on her house
@wormi449 LOL! Don't be scared!
Samsung one Ui 6.0 new phone
Glad you have a new phone! Does it take good pictures? That's what I always look for ,camera camera camera!
So Funny
Put that in my bag, please 😮
I'll have a pound of pastrami...sandwich sliced! What a machine!!!
I love it Already! I hope it cuts like butter! You want that pastrami on rye?! I can slice that too!
And black bag
@@wormi449 Alright 👍 👌 😀😃!
