Great video totally enjoyed-I have shared on my FB history group 👍
Thank you, James. I hope you’re doing well.
Temporal anomaly! It indeed happens after a pint or two
Indeed it does!
Thanks never been there..love the old house,s.
Thank you, Yvonne. Wait until you see the next few videos! There are some amazing houses to see.
Subscribed because you have a great name, a very relaxing voice for narration, and show the beautiful countryside of my ancestors. Cheers from acrossed the pond.
Wow, thank you! It’s lovely to have you as a subscriber. More videos are on the way. Best wishes to you.
no
No problem. Thank you. 🙏
Filofax!!! Yes!! Great stuff - looks like a Personal Finsbury per chance?
Yes, it is! Barry, you are spot on!
@@rolandstravels :) A lovely choice! If you're on the live chat this Sunday, let's get your channel and Filofax usage promoted to help get you to the 1,000 subs you're after :)
@barrysanaloginsights thank you Barry. This week we have friends over for dinner and an evening together, so it won’t be possible. I am sending you my video link today.
@@rolandstravels No problem - I'll give you a shout out anyway regarding the Filofaxes as I may show mine too :)
@barrysanaloginsights thank you, Barry.
just Subscribed. I hope it happens soon!
Thank you. I appreciate it very much.
Where are the Library and Hospital?
The library is a modern building on the edge if the main car park in the town centre. Frome Community Hospital is a newer building in Enos Way.
I think it's pronounced Roaster
Thank you. 🙏
Lovely walk, it's not a part of the country I know, but definitely worth exploring.
Derbyshire has some stunning countryside.
Gorgeous views, I can well imagine sitting in the window watching the world go by. Thanks for sharing 🙂
Thanks for watching. It’s certainly a lovely spot to relax.
As a resident of the town, this is a wonderful video. I never thought of walking the course of the old race course. Now, someone has done it for me! Brilliant video. Thank you and well done.
Thank you, Melanie. It’s great that it’s still traceable with the roads mainly following it.
@@rolandstravels Yes, it was a piece of luck that someone decided to follow its course when the Racecourse Road council houses were developed; not so lucky, of course, when the bypass was build. I think you missed a trick in your otherwise excellent video though - you should have done the circuit on horseback, perhaps with a few friends to really recreate the feel of those long lost times!
Good idea, except the video may have ended abruptly before completing the circuit!
Nice btw do you use a stabliser or gimbal? Also, does BT still maintain the phone boxes ?
Thanks. I use a DJI pocket osmo 2. They work great. Very few phone boxes have a phone these days
Yes our local met office is often wrong on rain chances. 😂 Yes clock isn't quite right but good enough. How old is the church?
The church goes back many years. This stone one going back to around 1200 AD. There’s more info in the video 😉
Lovely thx heated towel rack too. ❤
All the luxuries! 😀
Totally enjoyed your walk Roland
Thank you, James. It’s a lovely area. More videos due soon.
Thanks Roland. Nice to see. Any larger wildlife around such as deer or elk?
There could be some deer around but no elks in England.
Very nice.
It sure is, Yvonne.
Fantastic video, didn't realise quite how beautiful Rode was, a truly stunning village
Thank you. It is a beautiful village and has so much history too.
Bravo Roland!
Thank you, Dave.
Im trying to find out why it went from being a town to being downgraded to village status. What halted it's development or continuation of being a town?
I love these little English villages. May they never lose their old world charm. Thank you.
Thank you for commenting. I hope they don’t get swamped with modern housing.
Where is it???
Youlgrave in Derbyshire, England as in the title.
@@rolandstravels England is very beautiful
@@Ruwkol where it hasn’t been spoilt, it is.
I was there a few weeks ago. Bakewell is beautiful
It certainly is. Thank you for your comment.
I have a funny fishing story myself. The first time we visited on a family holiday, when we were staying at Burton Bradstock at the time, although it may have been the second time when we stayed at Seatown (which the locals pronounce Seaton) my sister had just bought, or was given to as a present, a new Shakespeare fishing rod. She and my dad were fishing over the harbour with that whilst my mum and me we using a simple fishing line. We caught a fish and she didn't. My uncle moved there a few years ago and although we visited him not long after he moved in, we are actually going back down the this Friday. I didn't know about there was an old railway station there.
Have a great time. Thanks for sharing your story.
Спасибо.4ак все знакомо.Я 11 лет прожила в этом городе.Здесь живут самые дружелюбные и приветливые люди.Я скучаю по городу,его паркам...😢❤😢❤😢❤

Thank you.
Thanks Rolan. Very interesting. Take care.
Thanks, you too!
@toneyh1 to answer your question. If you are prepared to walk a couple of miles. There is a bus service that will get you close.
Do you happen to know the history of the castle ? Was that where Sir Knight George Hill married Lady Isabella Crosse in 1569 ?
Thank you for your comment. The castle was abandoned before that time.
i lived here for 20 years, never knew it had so much history
Thank you for your comment. We often overlook what's on our own doorstep. There is so much history to tell about Westbury.
the traffic is the only bad thing, fumes
Sadly traffic is a problem for many towns and even villages that have main roads running through them. Thank you for your comment.
Totally enjoyed-I have also shared with our FB History group-Thank you my friend
Hi James. Thank you. It’s a beautiful village.
Thank you for filming this. I live here and it is nice to be able to show family in Australia where I live.
It’s my pleasure, Elizabeth. I hope your family enjoyed watching it.
I have enjoyed your walk round Mere this afternoon so much. I chose to watch it this afternoon as it is the funeral of my bestest school friend in St Michael's Church this afternoon. I have so many really happy memories as a schoolgirl at Shaftesbury High School for girls, and lived on the edge of Mere at Chance Cottage. We would ride our ponies up on the Chalk Downs behind Mere, and have wonderful gallops along the old roman road/main victorian and earlier road to London!! So many memories! I couldn't come to the funeral, I am 78 years old now and live in France, so especially good to be as close as I can be this afternoon.
Thank you for sharing. I am sorry that you have lost your friend and your memories are beautiful.
I have been there cool place
I agree, it is.
I went there and it just felt like to much red, i would rather have different shades so you can identify each car
Interesting view. Thanks for commenting.
Weird Roland. I recognised your voice, but didn’t think anything of it, until one of your viewers mentioned your name. Your videos are - Very professionally done. 👍🏾
Hi Everett Thank you. It’s a hobby of mine and I enjoy finding out about places a d sharing them here.
if you look at the aerial view of the junction of Stand Road and Sheffield Road, it is very obvious where the track ran, as the white building is cut off at an angle.
Thank you
The Good Lady doesn’t normally take an interest in TH-cam videos. But born in Chesterfield she found this one Q I.
@davecooper3238 Thanks Dave. Say hello to her and thank her for watching.

I would say they are compulsory! 😀

A good observation, it does blend well.
Shocķing story whàt would drive her to all that....
Indeed it is. Thank you for your comment.
Thx Roland most interesting.
Glad you enjoyed it
Thanks Rolan. Very interesting. 😊
My pleasure. Thank you for watching and leaving a comment.

Is the one ticket an annual pass? Thank you. Lovely video
I am not sure. They have a website which will tell you.
I never knew about this Rolan, and lived so near. We used to go to the white horse for picnics. Thank you 😊
It’s amazing how many stories there are on my doorstep! Thank you, Yvonne.
