I wonder if it really did get built?! Either way the fact that people want a new community that can somewhat be like Mayberry is great. I look at it as a positive thing.

What are honking about?

It was the Fall of 1993 when I received a call from Eric Russell looking for a studio to produce his CD apply titled, Simply Piano which was released in 1994. When Eric came into my studio he was very apprehensive about using my Roland MKB-1000 MIDI keyboard to bring his music to life. But I assured him that the results would be outstanding and that as a studio pianist myself, that Eric would love the feel of the piano keys. With that said, within minutes after test driving my MIDI keyboard, he was hooked as I was able to give him the most advanced MIDI piano sounds available anywhere in the world at that time. The following week Eric spent a couple of days playing all of his songs until he performed each one the way he liked it. However, Eric was more of a live piano player than a studio musician and thus there were lots of timing issues, missed notes and outright mistakes, along with some endings that needed to be corrected. Thanks to MIDI, it was possible to go back and fix all of that… and a lot more! So, once I dove into Eric’s music after he had gone home to let me work my magic, it was not until I dug in deeply into his music did I come to realize all the corrections I was going to have to make. And since I refuse to use the, “quantize” option which would destroy the human feel of his project that meant that there were going to be a lot of long days and even longer nights to literally fix and adjust tens of thousands of notes. Each note could be adjusted not only for timing and volume but each note could be adjusted for, attack, decay, sustain and retain. This is aside from lots of keys that Eric accidentally hit while playing at high speed that needed to be deleted and other places where Eric accidentally hit the wrong note needed to be set to the correct note. It goes without saying that any professional piano player or conductor would have to start to wonder at some point; is it humanly possible for Eric as green as he was at the time to have played every song absolutely flawlessly without the aid of computers to fix all the errors? As best as I know, no one ever figured out that Eric’s Simply Piano CD was all thanks to a MIDI driven computer and using Mark of The Unicorn software to capture Eric’s piano playing that made it possible for Eric to have flawless piano music on his CD, and with lots of MIDI adjustments it was possible to make it seem like Eric had the touch of a well-seasoned pianist. Example: In Eric’s song called, Adrenalin Rush there are over seventy thousand MIDI notes that had to be checked one at a time. And the more I checked the more issues I found. Sometimes I would have to move and re-space entire scores to make room for adjusting timing issues and being able to add missing notes. On average it took me over ten hours to overhaul each song. Reason being was that Eric lacked the fine touch of a well-seasoned, professional piano player at the time, and his music was simply too beautiful to fall to victim to inexperience. So... over a solid two weeks and some hundred and fifty hours later, I finally finished reworking all of his amazing music, all the while making sure that I never destroyed the human feel and the original compositional structure of each piece that Eric had poured his heart and soul into. In the end, I never, ever revealed to Eric the tens of thousands of adjustments I made to his musical work to give it the highly polished performance of a well seasoned pianist. Unless Eric comes across my post here, Eric will never know. You see, back then Eric did not want anyone to know that he used MIDI to put his project together as he feared he might not be taken seriously. Now almost a quarter of a century later, MIDI is common place and is used by the majority of the absolute biggest recording artist out there today. In fact, some of the finest orchestra pieces on the radio today are actually one hundred percent MIDI, in that no performing orchestra players were used. Rather someone sat in front of a computer and put it all together from scratch. If some of the past greats from centuries ago were alive today, MIDI to them would be like a kid in a candy store. At the time, it never accrued to me what if Eric makes a second CD and I’m not there to help him? As best as I can tell, Eric never went on to make other CDs, had he done so, the two CDs would have sounded very different from each other. Sadly, I was never to hear from Eric again. About a year or so later after his Simply Piano CD came out, I tried calling him and learned that he had moved, and had disconnected his old number. However, about fifteen years later Eric and I accidentally ran into each for a fleeting moment on a lookout on Skyline Drive and sadly, we failed to recognize each other. It was not until later that same day did I realize who he was. Oh well. FYI: Eric decided not to give me and my studio credit on his album for fear that someone might figure out he used MIDI to make his flawless piano playing possible, as I was among the most, if not, the most advanced MIDI studio found anywhere in the United States at the time with over a hundred and fifty thousand dollars in MIDI gear. Though I may be biased, buying his CD (when you can find one) is well worth it if you like romantic piano music that's off the beaten path. Cheers! I love the comments from all of the arm chair psychologists on here. Skeet's truck, boat, and trailer are all part of how he makes his living. They are advertising vehicles. I'm sure he could get by with a much smaller truck, but the big truck gets a lot of exposure for Lucky Craft (a lure manufacturer, not a boat builder) lures.

god, i love this ridiculous stupid ford - really!!! unfortunately german roads are no fun with such big car but as a third or fourth car, this one is my absolute favourite!

Just looks like a bloke who drives a truck he really likes, he'd cover a lot of miles and drives in comfort all the way. I'm sure that as soon as they make an electric car that can cover 1000 miles in a day without needing a recharge while towing a boat, seating 6 people and carrying a ton of gear, he'll be the first to get one.
