Tecumseh a/c compressor bottom seal replacement
I'm going to show how easy it is to replace the bottom seal on a Tecumseh HG700, HG700AP, HG850, AND HG1000. This particular compressor is from a Ferrari 308

This will give you an idea of how to replace the suspension compressor on your Ford Expedition / Lincoln Navigator 1997-2006. We offer 2 options for this compressor in our eBay store: stores.ebay.com/Automotive-Budget/Domestic-/_i.html?_fsub=2853263012&_sid=3578372&_trksid=p4634.c0.m322

    It is a bad idea to use PAG or POE (ester) oil for compressor assembly, seals, o-rings, etc. These oils are very hygroscopic, and they will inevitably pick up moisture and introduce it into the system. It will also invite rust/corrosion on the adjacent ferrous surfaces that are exposed to air. Your best bet is to get a quart of AC/refrigeration mineral oil and use that. Viscosity doesn't matter since you're only using it to lube seals and assembly parts. Mineral oil is chemically compatible with R-134a, it just doesn't mix with it. It is also chemically compatible with PAG and POE oils. Because the amount introduced into the system is so small, it's lack of miscibility isn't an issue. Also, minimize the amount of time the compressor is open with the oily internals exposed to air. If you have a nitrogen cylinder, it is a good idea to sweep and purge any air out of the compressor once the work is done. It also goes without saying that any oil in the compressor should be dumped and replaced with fresh oil just prior to evacuation. If the system isn't going to be charged for a while, evacuation should still be done, followed by a low pressure holding charge of nitrogen or R-134a. 5-10 psi is plenty. I will forgo my rant on why these systems should be kept on R-12 rather than converted to 134a.

      I would have appreciated your " rant " on R-12 vs. R-134a.....Thanks

    Thanks for the video. The bearing on mine blew out far away from home. The pulley itself it self is not available so I bought the whole unit. With the help of this video I robbed the pulley from the new one and got the car back on the road in just a few hours. Yes it was expensive, 600 dollars but this could have been way more extensive and much longer down time.

      We do sell some of the replacement pulleys but you're right about many of them not being available

    Is it common to replace these pulleys? Do the bearings make noise or do the rubber dampers perish?

    • @automotivebudget6343
      @automotivebudget6343 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Bearing wear out, the rubber dampers dry out and crumble, and the plastic pulleys will sometimes crack and brake from constant exposure to heat

    That's the info I've been trying to find! Allow me 2 questions though: Is the procedure the same for all 7SEU? Mine I believe is a 7SEU17C (Denso 471-1559). Is removing the 7mm bolt the same procedure? Thanks!

    • @automotivebudget6343
      @automotivebudget6343 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry for a late reply; yes this video will apply to the Denso 471-1559 7SEU17C. Keep in mind that it's not a 7mm bolt that will be removed. It's a 7mm hex shaft that will stay in place and the front drive plate will thread off like a nut from a bolt
