there are lots more sets for 1/2500 dating back to like 1993 the first set wast the TOS TMP and TNG Ent .. they then added B C and E set then the TOS set TMP set then DS9 set then the did Ent set the cardassian ship is from the DS9 station model as its the special version of the ship with the extra upper part

Actually, AMT/ERTL first released a1/2500 scale Enterprise set back in the late 80s early 90s of TOS TMP and TNG enterprises followed a few years later with a set of the B, C and E set. I also see some gaps on the hull haves of the Defiant.

I just wish this kit wasn't going for almost three bills. For what you pay for it I could almost buy another 1/350 Enterprise or the 1/350 K'Tinga. It also sucks that you can't get the unrefitted NX-01 in any other kit but the seven ship set as I already have all the other Enterprises from the other three ship releases except for that one to complete my Enterprise lineage display.

So just to be clear the original Cadet series DS9 set had a Galore, Defiant and Saratoga. The repop of the 1/3300 DS9 station had the Kheldon and defiant. And the Enterprise collection set had the NX-01 in its TV series configuration. So we are not getting an actual Galore release (but can fudge one from the parts provided) or a classic NX-01.... I would be happy with a Star Trek Enterprise set release with an NX-01 Enterprise, NX-02 Columbia, an Andorian Kumari class Cruiser, Vulcan Dkyr class Cruiser and a Klingon D-4 (or was it the D-5, I forget) maybe with a bonus of the NX Refit.

I recently repurchased this kit and have never regretted a Star Trek purchase more. The instructions appear to be a random cut-n-paste from the various versions over the years. Nearly none of the parts go together with any sort of supported fit. At best you’ll get a single microscopic tab that barely has a hope in hell of preventing the parts from misaligning. It’s so badly done that the mount for the sensor dish barely contacts the engineering hull without major reshaping of the hull front. The plastic of the kit is of reasonable quality but in some sections it is so thin that it could be nearly be mistaken for vacu-formed. The rest of the kit also has an incredible number of tiny gaps and overhanging lips everywhere. The neck between the saucer and engineering section has a massive gap at its front where it is meant to join the saucer. And when I say massive, I mean UNFORGIVABLY MASSIVE. There is an ~1.5 mm gap where the top front of the neck dips downwards in a curve that isn’t even vaguely close to the matching the underside of the saucer. Basically the kit is a garbage cash grab that just about no pang of nostalgia should justify wasting your time and money upon. Hell, I’d almost* consider holding my nose and buying the “Kelvin Timeline” Enterprise if I could go back in time and correct my mistake. *Big time “almost”. They fixed what wasn’t broken just so they could claim to have designed the USS Enterprise. Yes. I am currently more than a touch salty about this.

I want 1/2500 battle packs with squadrons of ships, say three Feds in one, three Romulans, in another, Three Klingons etc. Make them TOS or Motion Picture era. They would sell like hotcakes to wargamers.

15:50 do you need those plug and clip pieces for the power supply? Or can I just wrap the wire and solder around a 9v battery holder with red and black wire?

Do the decals fill in any of the gaps and seems, or do you need filler?

I really love this set and I can't wait till I get a copy! I do hope someday that Round 2 releases a Federation ship set with alphanumeric decals so I can choose my own name and registry for kitbashing.

There is an alternative theory on the Saratoga that the 'phaser cannons' are actually long range sensors. The Reliant has much smaller phaser cannons in the roll bar (shown firing on screen) and if those things on the Saratoga were very big weapons, then you should probably see them on other ships. Plus I see Sisko more on a science ship than a dedicated warship (though they used everything they had to battle the Borg).

Very nice, especially the NX01! You said the Saratoga was in the first episode of DS9, is that the same Saratoga that was also at the beginning of Star Trek 4? (I haven't watched much of DS9 lately.)

Also, it is really not clear from the box art top that the NX-01 is the refit version. The original 7 ship set was the NX-01 without the secondary hull.

I wish they would sell that NX-01 on its own or in a smaller 3 ship set. The only way to get it is in these large sets.

They look great! I especially like how Round 2 gives you options to make the NX-01 the refit or series version as well as parts for the Cardassian Galor or Keldon. Definitely worth the price.

Yes, I do agree they do look awesome. I’ve already pre-ordered my kit. But you are correct the nacelles are put on the wrong supports. You can tell cause the outside that you have on your model is actually the inside of the nacelle. The outside of the nacelles actually have a more smooth surface for the registration. I only know that cause I have already built two of the 1/1000 refit NX-01’s.

Discussing model kit prices today as fair is POOR TASTE! Prices are unbalanced today out of Pure Greed. Projection Pricing is what every retailer does today, while intentionally ignoring factory suggested retail prices. This Trend has WRECKED model kit fun. Its All about Greed now. Model makers are Luckey that new tecnology has been painfully researched, produced, & made compatable with plastic model kits by model enthusiests; lighting, sound boatds, electronics, & scratch build materials have come a Long way - giving way too a Fresh Interest in model building. The ONLY Hurtle the majority of us face is GREED from retailers, etsy, & ebay sellers. Its annoying and when I hit burnout I'm going to BURN all my models in an sct diffiance. 🤬

Once I finished editing this video, and I watched it full-size i noticed the NX refits nacelles might be on the wrong sides. I’ll try to double check it tomorrow.

A helpful tip to eliminate the shiny silvering on decals. Before applying decals , spray the model with a gloss clear coat. After the decals have been added and dry, spay everything with a matte finish coat. You can now add any weathering effects if needed. Your decals will no longer have that annoying “shine” to them when the light hits them at a certain angle.

I built this model about 1976. I was only 13 then and I don't remember painting it. I built this imediately after building the AMT Enterprise. I took pictures of them placed on Black Velvet that my mom had. I am pretty sure the decals were real simple on the original model with just 1 version. The more colorful Klingon Insignia version is what I had. Good memories.
