Angela Bassett, the Black Panther star, had a forbbiden love
Angela Bassett is an American actress born on August 16, 1958 in New York City[1][2]. She is known for her work in film and television since the late 1980s[2]. Her breakthrough role was playing Tina Turner in What's Love Got to Do with It (1993), which won her a Golden Globe Award and a nomination for the Academy Award for Best Actress[1][2]. She has also portrayed civil rights activists Rosa Parks and Betty Shabazz, the wife of African American leader Malcolm X[4].
Bassett attended Yale University where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree and a Master of Fine Arts degree[2]. She has been active in the entertainment industry since 1985[2][3]. In addition to acting, Bassett has also produced and directed films. She has received numerous awards throughout her career including two Golden Globe Awards[2].
In March 2023, Angela Bassett received the Career Achievement Award at the 5th Annual Black Women in Hollywood event hosted by Essence Magazine [5].
