They were some of the VERY FEW guys there who WERE ON THEME WITHOUT BECOMING SOME KIND OF SIDESHOW SPECTACLE! 😂 Seriously, NO ONE can POSSIBLY claim that if Stray Kids showed up in ANYTHING more extreme than what they did, that they WOULDN'T have generated the UTMOST HATE and RIDICULE! Thia was their first big group debut in regard to a non music related event in the USA. And they were a GUEST of Tommy Hilfiger. Not only are they attempting to make a ELEGANT first impression. (NOT the impression of what kpop groups are THOUGHT to be in the US, which is talentless, trashy and void of western understanding. Three things Stray Kids are NOT.) ON TOP of the expectations AND the preconceived notions of the west that they were needing to combat, They were ALSO having to balance it witb the expectations AND the HATE coming at them from THEIR OWN SIDE of the pond. As every single other kpop groups fandom has quite LITERALLY had their attention so far up SKZ a** that it's hilarious to even try to claim otherwise. And ALL of those people are just ITCHING for them to mess up. Needless to say that these guys were already walking the damn tightrope... SO THEY SURE AS HELL DIDNT NEED TO BE WEARING A CLOWN OUTFIT TOO! The amount of "Look at the freaks! Coming here thinking that they canclook like that when you ha e yet to earn our respect first! Korea must be wask as hell man!" And they would without a doubt be on the worst dressed list IMMEDIATELY! Just take a look at all of the official BEST dressed lists that came out! Most of the people who yall declared as being "not on theme" take up HALF of those lists. Wanna know why? Simple, because at the end of the day, THOSE WHO MATTER all agree that it is better to go understated and esthetically pleasing, that to go all into the theme and end up being made into countless memes, all at their expense, and made a total fool of. Why!? All so that EVEYONE can be VERY VERY SURE.... FROM A DISTANCE.... they were most DEFINITELY on theme? Really, THAT is what they should have done? As the only thing that would have resulted in is being made into a true joke by the western gala audience. Those who doesn't yet know Stray Kids in a meaningful way. In other words, they dont care about them emotionally so they will happily use them to take their own pent up frustrations out on. On top of this, they would have made a horrible first impression. They can always grow from underwhelming,chut they cant undo a trainwreck. And DONT EVEN GET ME STARTED on how those photographers would have treatrd them had they had anything truly negstive to say. But above all else, the whole of the kpop WORLD which, tragically and pathetically, WANTS to see them FALL ON THEIR ARSE would have made SURE they were heard. "OMG! WE TOLD YOU! STRAY KIDS IS AN EMBARRASSMENT TO KPOP! I cant BELIEVE this is who is "REPRESENTING" US! FIRST THEIR MUSIC IS JUST NOISE, AND NOW THEY ARE JUST A LOUD ASS FLOWERPOTS! HAHAH" Yeah, uh. NO THANKS. At least this way, none of that haopened. And FYI, THEH WERE MOST DEFINITELY ON THEME. Not only were those outfits quite literally designed with the theme AS THE WHOLE POINT. Lol They were actually done so ACCURATELY. I think a lot of people have a great misunderstanding regarding the theme. The theme WAS NOT the collection that the gala was inspired by. Nor is the theme "a garden"... the theme was "Garden of Time" which is about MANKINDS journey THROUGH time. The garden is a metaphorical representation. In other words, the concept was a look that shows fashion through time, and the garden is but a aspect of the image to bring it together. Their outfits were a PERFECT throughback of fashion THROUGH TIME and were BEAUTIFULLY ON POINT. On top of this, there was beautiful and very intricate detailing all throughout their outfits that beought the more notable aspect of said garden aspect, to help bring it all together. (Im sure there were many many other such examples in tbeir outfits. However, i would district your attention to the lining of their coats/cloaks. Not to mention the extremely deetailed and classic embroidery of the white button-down shirts they wore beneath their suite jackets. IN FACT! Just those two example RIGHT THERE put them ahead of 99% of the male attendees that night!) Seriously, why the heck would a fashion designer, specifically one as notable and experienced as TH, a brand who has literally existed through a lot of said time and done so as one of the few to have truly done so whilst succeeding. So... yeah. THEY WERE PERFECT.
