Woodwose

Woodwose was formed in 2012 as an offshoot of medieval/theatrical band Daughters of Elvin. Since then there have been intermittent gigs with a flexible lineup around the core of Katy Marchant and Steve Tyler, the repertoire comprising medieval music, own compositions and anything between. Instruments include hurdy gurdy, bagpipes, gothic harp, recorder, gittern, santur, percussion etc. sometimes with voice.

It is composed by Katy Marchant (the bagpiper) as it says. Of course, I add my own lines on hurdy gurdy and Nick has added some extra things.

It's too bad about the hurdy gurdy, which is anachronistic by about three centuries. Why not just use a saxophone? Medieval symphonias sounded nothing like that.
Hurdy Gurdys have been around since at least the 11th century. This song was originally written in the 14th century. So yeah, it's not really anachronistic.

That is why I asked "Why not just use a saxophone?" As a professional performer of medieval music, however, I (and my ensemble) strive to avoid anachronistic instruments and orchestration in the hope of producing a result that is at least 'as it might have been'.'@@FernanMas
