My concrete sculpture Uptown Girl was the inspiration for this piece reimagining my sculpture into another medium. Using Dupont dyes and a chocolate resist and a clear resist only on her nose to keep darker tones separate from the light tones. It took many layers of color to get the intensity i wanted. The final blue was used straight from the bottle with no dilution to get the deepest blue. Cr...

I don't wanna have to do a prototype and a mold so I am wondering if I could use this material to sculpt an outdoors piece?
❤
You can buy fiber at lowes..different grades...then you add amont needed.. Should be cheaper
I will have to check it out. I have some fibers but not near as fine as in their product.
I think these are so cool
💵
Why do these people all want to give you endless bourgeois information about who they are and where they grew up and how they get their ideas . . . BORING!!! No one cares. Just explain how to do it.

Very nice craft.
Bravo 👏 👏 👏

One of the more unique crafts I’ve seen. Great work!
Thank you!
My recipe for sculpture - Add 1 part diatomaceous earth - 1 part sand - 1 part Portland cement 1/2 cup white cement bonding liquid or you can use white Elmer’s school glue
Diatomaceous earth yes i can see how that would work. I will have to try it. I always say admix is like watered down glue and you have proven that. I expect diatomaceous earth is more expensive than sand so what benefit is this element?
This is fantastic. Hi from Wales. 🏴 The land of the dragon. 🏴
My intern is working on a wyren dragon crawling on a large ball so we will be adding to our dragon landscape in front of our gallery/studio.
How much pal Tiya did it take to make this?
very LOVELY!
I'm happy to find a concrete sculpture artist. You do nice work. I wanted to propose something a pottery college instructor once pointed out to me. My view is that it's always better to work in wet concrete (or clay), rather than dry, hardened concrete with a dremel, especially since concrete can be stamped. You could just carve a name stamp, & use a set of number stamps for dates. If the back is hidden, I would just make a name piece to lay on the table upside down, under the wet work, at the start, & build on top of it wet from there.
That is a good thought
I'm wondering how this art has held up? As it looks like you have pushed the ends of the aluminum into the concrete. I had considered using aluminum flashing to help create concrete armatures, until I learned that aluminum in concrete is against standard practice. For example, just a Google search about it, gives a long list of professional organizations saying aluminum is not to be used in concrete, because it corrodes in the alkali environment. Did you coat the ends with something that we don't see in the video? Also, I also found this remarkable, because I would expect cutting aluminum into strips would produce very sharp metal edges that could be dangerous? You didn't say anything about that, & I see you handling it freely, lifting it up like paper streamers. So that also left me a bit confused, since you didn't mention anything special you did to cut the aluminum to avoid this? Thanks.
I also use Pal Tiya and awesome concrete product with fibers. I coated natural leaves with pal tiya and shaped it over a wad of tinfoil to give the leaf a curvy shape than placed in a plastic ziplock bag for 30 days. The tin foil was only being used to hold the leaf up while curing. It did start to deteriorate the tin foil. Put Pal Tiya is meant to be used over tin foul covered armature. It doesn’t really matter if it deteriorates it is only there for the application process. The concrete has not affected the aluminum pop can also they are not all sharp. My sculptures with the aluminum pop cans do hang outside year round un Montana weather. The sun will fade the print colors off the aluminum in a year or so. That is the only thing that has happened.
@@MontanaBlissArtworks Thanks for sharing your experience & wisdom
Nice video. I enjoyed glimpses into seeing you work. Thanks. My notes: TOOLS: curved leather knife, xacto knife = #1- e.g. digging out deep eye sockets; mop fine art brushes; hands/fingers; wood stick, dental tools. MIX: portland cement, sand, colorant, liquid mixture. Mixes to clay like consistency, places on work surface, & carves it. (Video shows pouring milky water on- probably acrylic or latex, w/ or w/out water). SUBJECT: people/faces- from interesting faces encountered in life- & initially inspired by architectural faces on buildings in Chicago- stone carvings; uses realistic looking glass eyes. USES: Garden pieces (on rock walls, hang on trees, on ground, hidden in plants, as surprises)/ & pieces not for garden, with added jewelry, real fibers (e.g. animal hair- lamb's wool; alpaca hide; ). UNIQUE compositions/ NOT molds: realism eyes couldn't work w/ mold; starts w/ a concept- might be a facial expression, the eyes, clothing, or 1:43??? INSPIRATION: (besides above): pictures, online, magazines, as watch TV... finds a face that "speaks' to her. MODIFICATION of people: it starts w/ people, but may add animal features, or 'over-express,' or WORK METHOD- ADDITIONAL: draws lines in the concrete, to assist features placement. CURING: 1st spray with more water, then shows placement on a board, inside plastic bag, w/ jar to elevate the plastic off the face. Milky white liquid = mortar admix.
Ideas covered: build around styrofoam block, covered w/ cellophane sheet. Mark block location on work surface, so you can know its position as hand build & manage sculpture thickness; table markings can get lost as work & get slurry/ cement on work surface (so maybe cover with plastic film you can move? wipe off?; Deer antlers: do not want to insert when concrete is already curing- drying/ can lead to cracks/ insert wet- she re-wet the concrete mortar for adding them
I soak my antlers in water so they are dry and draw moisture out of concrete. I don’t insert them i actually lay them where i want them and apply the concrete mix around them.
Thanks for the video. I'm beginning concrete sculpture, so you seem like a great person to learn from
Sorry i meant so they are not dry. anything you intend to add in your concrete soak in water first so it is fully hydrated.
@@MontanaBlissArtworks I think you gave a reply in the wrong place. LOL
@@MontanaBlissArtworks Do you have any videos about a review on the pal tiya product? Thanks
You may be the only one on TH-cam who goes into detail on sculpting with concrete, thank you.
Thanks for the video. I find it valuable to hear from someone with experience with concrete sculpture. I am confused about one point. I went to Uline to look up these gloves, using the number you gave. In the video, you say they are not textured, which you need for the sake of working with your sculpture. The Uline website indicates that they have textured fingers. (The # you gave shows the glove: Uline Supraflex Nitrile Gloves - Powder-Free, S-15639M INDUSTRIAL I can't seem to find ANY glove, online, on Uline website, amazon, etc, that are industrial gloves, that are smooth. The only nitrile gloves i found on Uline that are smooth are the ones indicated in their video, but they only come in 3 mil option. I see some gloves have a deep diamond texture. I assume by calling the gloves smooth, you must mean that they have a relatively smoother texture, & so are smooth in comparison? Thanks.
At what point do you add the attachments, as of hair and sticks to your pieces i sculpt with pal tiya and wanted to add different fabric and other materials but im a little leary on when to add them 😮💨
When i am using cement and sand i add everything in the wet concrete. With Pal Tiya you can add at any point because you can keep adding layers on pal tiya.
Could you make a video of how to weld the rebar or how you make it stay all together? Pleeeease! 🙏🏽
I did not weld the rebar just made it long enough to run the length of the piece extended beyond the feet so it would go into the base i poured for the installation location.
Very nice work. What are using for the cement mix?
it is PalTiya
Wow ❤❤❤
I am thinking about trying this for a high school Greenhouse management class. How much time do you have to sculpt the mixture? Can it be covered and saved for more working time the next day? Thank so much for sharing your methods!
You have to work very fast and keep wetting the concrete. No you cannot work on it later. Paltiya is a concrete product with fibers you use in a thin coating over an armature. This product though expensive does allow you to work on it over time. Check their website it is very informative and a great product..
Nice, آفرین
Ummm. This may sound harsh but I have to ask- What is the point of an informational video when you’re blocking the entire shot and don’t go into any of the details regarding the liquid content. I appreciate your keeping some secrets to yourself however this was not at all enticing, interesting or useful, so what was it you were attempting to accomplish?
Please note the liquid mix is listed in my description below the video.
Do you do concrete sculpting workshop? I would pay for your training.
I do one on one workshops at $50 an hour in my studio. Two - three hours of time and you will understand the process and medium.
Heyoka was my Great-Uncle and we were very close. Unfortunately because of my pregnancy, I wasn't able to attend this service. Thank you for sharing this. Blessings to you/
Sorry you could not make it. It was an incredible tribute i am glad to hear you are treasuring the moments captured.
Good work
Thank you so much 😀
Really gorgeous work. So much interest in the faces you create. Nice job
Thank you so much 😀
thank you mommy
👏👏👏👏👍👍👍👍💯
Thank you!
Wow, you are like me. I thought it would be gool to sculpt "lawn masks" from concrete. I make them from clay and plaster now. I am so happy I have your guidance.
Look forward to seeing your creations!
That was great. I have been thinking of doing some work in concreat. Do you have a special recipe for the mix?
My formula is 1 part portland cement 2 parts sand
have you ever made pots with that mix??
I make pots with hypertufu thats is ehen you add peat moss and vermiculite to the mix it is much more organic looking for plantings. There are many different formulas for hypertufu i dont make them anymore but still use the ones i originally made. My best advice if making pots wrap them in plastic and slow cure them s fee weeks half way through take them out snd brush with a steel brush. They will then look like old stone vessels! Wrap and finish curing do mot hurry the process as it makes them stronger.
I can't beleive this video. What are you showing ? You don't tell what the white liquid is? How much you put in? How much water ? You're just mixing concrete !! WTF, You're making a mixture for sculpting. I got one for you.... Video - How to ride a bike in the Tour de France. Advice - Get on a bike and pedal. Great video....not!!!
The white product mixture is stated in the description below the video. The amount you add to the dry mixture depends on air moisture and sand moisture the video shows what the mix should look and feel like.
Thanks for this video, sorry people are being shitty. Cement instructions are very general and can be hugely tweaked -and people are over here raking you over the coals like they payed for this information 😅.
i love your content girly
Thanks for witching!
Pal Tiya advises that briefly torching the cured surface removes fibre
Yes but i like the texture of the fibers so i dont remove
Very nice video. Thank you so much. I’m still looking for a sculpture called,.” The traveler”
me too hahaha
I found,he lied isn't write in description what he said
Your liquid... hmmm
Thin set mortar admix mixed 50% with water. Tile setters use admix in their mortar
Why don’t you make one of your beautiful heads out of pal, tiya and tinfoil?
I do use pal tiya for my large sculptures. I have done a 9ft dragon and a life size woman.
