hi from AUS . just found your channel and subbed
Thanks for subscribing, I really appreciate it! So cool to hear that someone from AUS is watching me work on my bus.
i got a 62 beetle but lately cant stop looking at buses !!!
What color are you going with? My dad had a bad back so he bought a camper bus because the seat height was the best for his back. We did a lot of camping it that bus. It was white. The good old days.
Hey, thanks for watching and sharing good memories with your dads camper bus! The original color of my bus is Turkish Green and I'm returning it back to original.
good stuff, thxs for sharing...
Thanks for watching!
Dude I was so excited to see a new upload. It’s looking good. YT@rustydubbs
I heard jet ultra paint stripper works way better and don't take as long to scrape off or pressure wash off.
I’ll check it out, thanks!
Great news !!! 💪 Did you order a Birth certificate in the end ?
Thanks man! I started looking into getting the birth cert.
@ great. Applying, receiving and going through the information would make a good video 👍
Nice Work! I’ve a ‘71 Westy.
Yes, install ring on the bushing and then install the bushing. It’s very easy. Thanks for sharing your process.

Thanks for watching!
Have 66 bus and a 56 oval window bug. Bug is a shell bus is a rolling shell. Needing both sold….
That sounds awesome! Email me some pictures of them. Centerbayclassics@gmail.com
Nice I want one
Excellent work ! What happened to episode 13?
Thank you for watching. I appreciate it. I am working on episode 13 now.
Awesome work Amigo👍🏼👍🏼💪🏽🇺🇸
Thank you!
Nice CJ, I had that bumper grill gaurd combo on a 83 CJ. Im building another now, cant remember who made it. You dont recall seeing any name on it did you
Please use a basket!
Always loved the shoe box ford
coming along buddy, its a slow process but def worth it at the end, What make is your shrinker stretcher?
Thanks man! It’s a Marchant shrinker stretcher.
Bravissimo ciao e grazie per il video 👍💪😉👏
Impressive work!
great tool. looks like it worked as planed!
when you pull that lip out you need to put a clamp on it then put a chain underneath from the right hand side frame rail or horseshoe section Right side not the left. Put tension on it then while tension is on it use the same tools you were already using in this video to hammer out the kinks. Also use your body hammer and slapper on the roof to shape it to the same roundness. I use slapper file on that so I can disperse the hammering to a larger surface area. they help not to stretch the metal as well. The file uses the shrinking method to keep it uniform.
If you understand the concept you will be pulling it in a 45 just as it was pushed where it is now.
@@Mikefngarage Yes, I think I understand what you're describing. I did do a pull with the puller at a 45 degree angle from the inside of the passenger side pulling out to the drivers side. That seemed to work pretty good. It's just that last little bit that takes forever to get perfect. Also going to use a porta power from the inside out pushing off the steel cart that the bus sits on.
Great progress. Can’t wait for the paint. Did you get a Birth certificate in the end ? I try to use the original bolts rather than new. The quality is not the same.
Thanks! Still a long ways a way from paint. No, I haven't gotten the birth certificate yet, but I didn't forget!
@@centerbayclassics only takes a few weeks and will confirm the original spec.

Thanks for watching!
Love your build. Thanks for the detail. Truly helpful for my bus renovation.
Thanks so much! I'm glad it's helpful. What are you working on? I'd love to hear.
Coming along nicely. Look forward to the next episode. 👌👌
Thanks man! I appreciate it.
excellent work. cheers
Thank you! Cheers!
Look really nice t really helps to have all the right tools and experience looking a lot better !
Thanks so much! I appreciate you watching!
the drivers side of the roof appears to be still damage looking at the oval windows it needs to be pushed up along that area as weel might be easier to replace the other rear corner to get more access to the damaged area
Yes, the drivers side still needs more attention. I'm working my way around the bus.
I just got done welding a donor roof on my VW double cab, drilled out all the gutter spot welds, and reconditioned the metal under the roof. My double cab has a smaller roof but I don't see how you would do it otherwise. You can't really get in behind those dents but you can cut it..
That's awesome! Love to hear about other peoples projects! Yeah, that's going to be the tricky part. I'm going to have to get access to the backside to hammer and dolly it.
Hi All, BBT are in a league of their own right now, attention to detail is perfect, Panels are a dream to fit, Perfect fit up everytime. Good to see your giving this bus the very best.👌
They really are. BBT is doing an amazing job on there panels! Highly recommend them.
Old vw ‘s just keep on ticking
Can’t find the new episode. Did you set it public? YT@rustydubbs
Sorry for the confusion. Episode 12 will be out this weekend!
@@centerbayclassics I’m excited. I learn a lot from you.
@Doubleodude Thank you so much! I appreciate the support and thanks for watching!
Well done Thanks for sharing your wisdom
Thanks for watching!
When you put on the remover cover it with a sheet of newspaper keeps the volatiles in.
Thanks for the suggestion! I’ve used a sheet of painters plastic before, never tried newspaper. I’ll give it a try!
I used heat to remove the bondo. Was that a bad idea? Sorry for the duplicate post
Not necessarily bad idea, you just have to be careful you don’t over heat the panel and cause warpage.
I appreciate you filming the progress, great insight of how the VW van is like a puzzle. I’m looking forward of how you install the battery tray where it attaches to panel for engine compartment seal channel, rear apron mount bracket to the gusset & D-pillar. Cheers to your awesome video Contant
Thanks for watching!
Don’t go too mad with the little imperfections. The Bus has had a tough life and deserves to have some battle scars
Great to see the Bus coming together. Your workshop and selection of tools is next level. The filming and editing is very professional. You should have your own show 😎🤙👍
Wow, thanks man! That means a lot. I am trying to put out the best videos I can and I hope that each video gets better and better as I go. Thanks for following the build!
Excellent Video, thxs for sharing...
Thanks for watching!
Been following the project for a while now. It is coming along nicely. Keep em coming your very talented. 👌👌
Thank you so much! I appreciate you following along.
Looking at the footage I would say to try pulling diagonally downwards from top r/h of the rear hatch to the bottom l/h corner of engine lid ? Also where r/h (again looking at rear of bus) the swage line of just below where window begins it looks as though the panel bows out whereas the new rear 1/4 panel next to it is less curved ?? Either way enjoying the progress.
Thanks for the suggestion! This is such a great idea. Definitely going to try pulling diagonally. Great eye!
You and your shop are very impressive wow ! Thank you !
Thank you and thanks for watching!
Usually when you make one of these the bottom leg you put a T on it and attach it to the other side of the car frame. SO your chain would attach to the right side of the bus front end and to the top of the left side. Better leverage. But it looks like it is working.
Yeah, it can use some improvement still. I used mostly scrap metal I had in the shop to build this puller, but I think with this puller and a porta power pushing from the inside I should be able to get it straightened out.
Looks like your making an L style frame machine Body shops used to use them all the time.
Nice job? But what happened to the bus? Did you roll it??
Thanks for watching, the bus was in a accident in the 1990s, It rolled over on the driver side. And then got parted out and sat for several years. When I found the bus it was in that unfortunate condition.
Great job! You are definitely a skilled fabricator for sure. That is quite a tool for straightening and squaring things up on your bus.
@@chriskealey4331Thank you, that means a lot!
So, were you able to get the ring on that way or did you just do without putting it on at all?
Yes, I was able to install it that way.
You guys know how to put on a show. Great tunes, cars and Vdub folks!!! Thoroughly enjoyed every minute! So cool.
Thanks! It was a great time. Thanks for watching!
