Professor Hadley Kruczek-Aaron - Unearthing History, Cultivating Change
Archaeology of Farmers & Activists in the Adirondacks -
An update on research carried out on sites linked to Timbuctoo, a 19th-century settlement of Black farmers in Lake Placid, NY. This work has revealed the everyday lives of those who supported a voting rights effort launched in 1846 to give Black New Yorkers political and economic power through land ownership.
Hadley Kruczek-Aaron is a historical archaeologist whose research examines the ways that class, gender, race, and religion have been lived in 19th-century America. She explored these topics in her 2015 book Everyday Religion: An Archaeology of Protestant Belief and Practice in the Nineteenth-Century, which focused on archaeology carried out at sites associated with central New York abolitionist Gerrit Smith. Since then, Hadley has continued to explore similar questions at sites across northern New York, including those associated with Civil War soldiers, loggers, reformers, tourists, and farmers. Committed to collaborative approaches to archaeology, she has partnered with many individuals and groups to carry out research and develop curriculum and public programs relating to her work. Hadley holds a PhD from Syracuse University and has been a professor at SUNY Potsdam since 2005.

You guys act like all of us left. But the truth is alot of our peoples stayed & will always stay as this our land taken through theft, Deceit. Alot of our peoples would rather die than allow ourselves to be chased out. What changed was how we were listed in census's most of our peoples were changed to white or Mullatto or others, because of the increasing numbers of the Caucasians. In fact if you really look at the history even though the Christian KKK descends from the Catholic church as with all christians & they take thier attire from them. It was the Catholic Church who played the biggest part of our supposed disappearance, keep our peoples in Orphanages & boarding schools where many of us were renamed & changed into something else. Adopting our people out under new names & different races throughout the generations. In a attempt to Exterminate our peoples. But we are still here & will be long after this nation falls.

Dr. Thompson provides an amazing piece of SLC’s history. Overshadowing the spread of racism are the individual stories of people of moral character who stood up to the mindless bigotry of the times. Thank you SLC Historical Society and Dr. Thompson for this very important work.

The son of Black Lives Matter(which is a message to law enforcement)Potsdam NY leader being killed in Potsdam NY on 1/8/21 but it being labeled a suicide is St Lawrence County history. When I get justice for my son Terron Evans Jr, the accountability and justice of law enforcement and many others will be historical.
