Profile experiment with a fast and hot roast, vs low and slow roast on two different beans, a Brazil Mogiana and Papua New Guinea. Roasts completed with a Fresh Roast SR540. Special guest Rob Pirie of Cedar Ota Coffee helps me taste, much thanks Rob! Rob's cupping video: th-cam.com/video/cCkmxQJYWqE/w-d-xo.html

This video ended up longer that I anticipated, but hopefully the information is useful. The beginning shows the most basic operation and functions of the Fresh Roast SR540 home coffee roaster. Later in the video I go over some tips on overall roasting workflow, and briefly at the end I mention some popular mods and upgrades. Note that most of this tutorial will also apply to the SR800.

Earlier this year, I was fortunate enough to taste the same bean, roasted to about the same roast level, on three different home roasters...the Fresh Roast SR540, a Whirley Pop stove top popcorn popper, and an Aillio Bullet Roaster. (I roasted the Fresh Roast, the other two were from other experienced home roasters, we just exchanged the roasted coffee). The verdict? Honestly they were pretty s...

In this video I give tips that have helped me to highlight origin flavors when home roasting coffee, and how to taste the differences. At the end of the video I try out my "system" on an 8 pound sampler from Sweet Maria's. I'm a beginner, so if you have tips or a system that has helped you, please leave a comment. Thanks.

In this video I demonstrate a light roast, a medium roast, and a dark roast using the Fresh Roast SR540 home coffee roaster. This video probably has too many things going on at once, it’s kind of a three-ring circus around the 5- to 6-minute mark. However, I hope you find some of the information useful. The settings used are adapted from the Sweet Maria’s Fresh Roast SR540 Tips Sheet: www.sweet...

This is mostly just a bit of fun, but towards the end of the video I have 3 recommended profiles you might want to try. This is a good roaster to experiment with, and to try different roast profiles and settings to get the flavors you like. Note that I have added a temperature probe on my stock roaster in order to get a more accurate bean temperature reading. The roaster itself has a temperatur...
