I saw these birds for the first time. Our local guide Sandip Nagare showed them to me. These two were foraging in the undergrowth. This location is a lush grassland cum scrub-land in the rain-shadow area of Pune District, in Maharashtra state of India.

We found these male Chinkaras being together as a group. Some were cleaning their fur, some were resting on the ground. Few became alert of our presence. Later, all males started walking to one direction, one after the another and vanished in the grass.

There were four cubs to a pair of tigers. The female - cubs' mother had hunted down big Indian Gour for the hungry grown cubs. The kill was hidden in the tall grass. One cub who was very hungry ate his lunch in spite of gypsyfull of tourists watching, their cars coming-waiting-and going. We can hear alarm calls of the peacock, camera clicking, hushed talk of guide....

Perched on a branch this bird is calling for some reason. It was very hot, the bird might be panting to keep itself cool.

This clip shows Little Cormorants resting after morning feeding and after probably drying their feathers. They have made a long small group. With them we can see some Painted Storks, some Grey Heron standing on the islands which are made of emerging villages from the backwater of Ujani Dam backwater.

That day was overcast and windy during afternoon. Balpudi grassland gave a perfect opportunity to the parents to bring their babies out in open to feed. I was lucky to see these birds from close quarters. They felt safe with us as we kept our distance and kept quiet and did not disturb them. The juvenile joined her mother and then with the father while foraging.

I saw these birds with their babies in this grassland for the first time in spite of they being residents here. It was windy and overcast. Parents ventured out with their babies to feed. Later female bird with her three babies joined the male bird.

I was pleasantly surprised to suddenly see this big lone bird not afraid of our presence coolly foraging on the ground. It was pretty windy that afternoon.

I had seen this bird in Kanha NP before and that to too far away. This year, on 17th June I saw a single bird in a thicket foraging with his/her long beak. White patch on bird's flanks are noticeable. Its blue-purple color on the feathers are shining in sunlight. Very happy to see this bird not afraid of our presence.

I had seen this bird few times before but it was very difficult for me to have it captured on camera either because of the distance or the bird was hidden in the branches of a tree. This time, I was happy to see the whole bird out in open on the floor of the thorn forest foraging from a short distance. I witnessed the bird eating something from the carcass of the buffalo.
