“Anyway you say you're too busy saving everybody else to save yourself” This is really weird but I suddenly got the idea of a retired villain, well, more like a villain who got bored and this is how they see the Hero. A sudden thought strike them during that moment;“My dearest, utmost respect rival. I think therapy would suit you well.” This thought alone surprised the villain, because since when did they care? This made the villain both amused and confused, so far as to make them do the most questionable thing (but make sense to their henchman, who already accepted the absurdity of what will come when the villain was bored) like becoming the Hero's new “sidekick” just for the sake of giving the Hero emotional support. Like the villain just went bestie mode and was like-“Someone need to knock some damn sense into your stupid head.” And in all honestly, the villain doesn't even know why they're so committed to this. Was it amusement? Entertainment? Essentially them being a spy? Or they actually care? Maybe it doesn't matter when the Villain/sidekick was now running around the town looking for the Hero's missing cat before they came back from their patrol. The superhero can't function without at least a cuddle from their kitty-that the Villain could understand. I'm sorry if this doesn't make any sense aonsksks Sometimes I just let my mind wander and this is what happened.

Art has plenty of interpretations so heres mine, I feel like the story in this song is about a person whose good, A guy whose kind, they're always there for their friends, they're always on time with projects, they're good at their job, and they're hardworking But it's unfullfilling for them, their friends aren't real, the relationship is toxic, the job isn't inspiring, they don't care for what they do, they just do it because thats what they should do, essentially that type of thing is what I personally associate with Hero's or angels, faithful to the good things even if they don't want to be However what I associate to devils and demons is freedom, and the guy in this story wants freedom, they envy the selfish, they envy people who are free So he calls up the devil and asks what they like to do, asking for that information so that they can follow the stuff the devil does, smoking, drinking, etc. because they want to be free just like the devil But then the Devil kind of teaches the guy to actually get freedom, cigarettes and rum dont give you freedom, thats just disobeying, breaking the rules Freedom is making your own rules, and thus the devil talks about something else, something called: freefall Idk idk

My interpretation of the song is actually pretty religious. It represents that the devil is a liar and a schemer and he wants you to kill yourself but don't listen to him. Life can get so sad and heavy and lonely. It may seem easy to just fall away from The hurt. "its not suicide, it's just a freefall" but please don't. Hold on. God is the way. I could go in line by line but I know no one wants to read that. Anyways thats my interpretation

My theory on this song is based on the fact that suicide is considered a sin. Whenever the song refers to calling to the devil it means that the singer is experiencing depression/sh/or is thinking about suicide. Freefall is a code word for suicide too. I think that the main character is going through toxic friendships where they give all they have because they want to feel wanted and needed but it never turns out that way. This is why at the beginning they “call to the devil” which either represents depression or them sh by drinking or smoking as they mentioned. Then they start to vent about their friendship situation and admit that maybe their headspace has influenced their friends to be depressed and sh just like they do. After realizing that their friends are starting to hate them and that what they thought was “being a good friend” really wasn't. They start to think about suicide and “the devil” (depression) tells them they can let it all go with freefall (suicide). The called to the devil part is where the character starts to rely on sh to control their emotions because they feel so sad and lonely all the time. But then “Cant be bothered to handle your” represents how sh starts to not be enough anymore. “Can sit down ive been hustling all day. Cant even count how many souls ive collected.” represents thats they have started sh really often to the point where they cant count. “Remember: The devil ain’t a friend to no one” Represents how they started to get addicted to the sh and sadness and depression but know deep inside how negatively this is affecting them. They start to think about suicide again. “Why you been calling this late” represents them being unable to sleep due to the depression and sh again to deal with their emotions. “too busy saving everybody else” is them finally accepting that these friendships he was trying so hard to keep were what was causing his horrible mental state. But she doesn’t want help because she doesn’t want anyone to know how she’s doing and she wants to keep her friends. “Aint shit free but falling out” represents her starting to think she’ll never be happy unless she dies. Then at the end of the song they finally end their life because the “devil” showed them how. Edit: Im sorry for switching pronouns a lot but im talking abt the same main character throughout this entire story :)
