Me and my teacher believed that Jonas, Gabe, And Rosemary are all dead and have had several different itterations. One time it might have been Pete and Johnson but they died again. We think the sled is a memory of the first memory the last one and a memory. His most important part of his life flashed before his eyes. The sled. THE SLED. A sled every person remembers. But why would it already be there? If there was for example a person who died on the sled once and its already down the hill. It was the last memory of the first one dying, and the giver realizing he could be immortal if he did this over and over again. The cabins being a symbol for heaven.

Seems unlikely that breaking out of that colorless, synthetic, half-alive world... then dying, would cause the destruction of said world. That tidal wave of love and truth and spiritual/ emotional freedom sent back into it was the repercussion of a breakthrough into life and freedom, not death, IMO. Thanks for posting!
