Looking like a fun little build you have there.

@rustyhammerforge5902 very cool.
Great video thank you. It would be even greater to see more of the finished article 👍

Good job David! A great man who Loves the Lord. Also I learned how to make my first few knives from !

It was a good video but if you want a tip to improve your TH-cam stats… lose the 25s intro. It’s probably killing your retention rate. Just trying to help you. 👍
@@TyrellKnifeworks you are probably right, appreciate the advice
that handle is sick very eye catching , i have 1 question no smith is yet to answer in maybe 200+ vids when working the hammer why do ppl bounce the hammer on the anvil??
@@rizza2121 rhythm…it is mainly to keep a rhythm.
@@rizza2121 which is why when I teach Blacksmithing technique I make sure to teach students to hold the hammer firmly at the point of impact but loose during the up swing

Super travail bravo 👍 I would like to know what powder you put in, I can't read the labels on the jars. What quantity? Merci d'avance
The Blue Label: 1095 Mesh Powder...Grey Label: 4% Nickel Mesh Powder...the quantity varies based on the pattern inside your can!
@2:20 Why would you include that shot of you scratching your ass. 🤢
I wasn't scratching my ass, but I can see how it looks that way.
@@rustyhammerforge5902After rewatching I can see that you've putting your hammer into your back pocket. But it really looks like you're getting right up there hunting dingleberries. 🤣🤣🤣

I'm 10 months into my blacksmith/bladesmithing journey and no power hammer or press yet but love this craft. It has helped my ptsd more than any medication could. I also have started leather working to make sheaths. I've sold a few but before that gave away a lot. Thanks for this video
@@APs.Custom.knives that is awesome! This craft is such a blessing in many different ways and I have met so many wonderful people (some not so wonderful also). Keep on forging my friend!
@rustyhammerforge5902 I am pretty much alone as a Smith where I live. I would love to meet more smiths in my area. And yes my brother forge on.

I started bladesmithing 2 years ago at age 51. I wish I had started 20 years ago when I got out of the Army! Thank you so much for your service and sharing your story!!
Thank you for your service! And I am a firm believer that it is never to late to start. No matter the age or ability, blacksmithing is a craft that all can do and all can learn. I have taught the disabled how to blacksmith and I have taught the old how to blacksmith (couldn't think of a good way to say over the hill, 😆). My point is that everyone no matter their perceived limitations can do this craft, albeit at a different pace and with different tools!
@@rustyhammerforge5902 I absolutely agree...LOL
I got into blacksmithing fall of 2016 following the end of my marriage and battle with PTSD from being a long time volunteer firefighter in my hometown. Spend hours out in my shop still , most days can’t really tell you what was done other than escaping from my own mind and demons
@@willlothridge3197 yes sir I can definitely relate. Glad to know you have found blacksmithing
@@rustyhammerforge5902 I too have given away so much of my work , recently surprised my Army brother with a copper copper clad, pewter bolster and pomell antler handled knife. I knew exactly when he opened the package cause my phone rang. Look forward to seeing your videos to come
Great work! I appreciate the honesty about your journey and why you do what you do. It's a great reminder that it's not about the $$, but about the actual creation of something you love.
@@murraymakesstuff we all just want to make cool stuff and hope along the way that others think it is cool as well!
Wow! What happened?
Well...a few things happened: Not using a releasing agent (Titanium Oxide or Graphite Powder) and not fulling setting the welds with the can in place. I was going to finish setting the weld when I got the can off, because in my mind it was welded enough to do that, which would have been perfect If i had just used a releasing agent. Also this wouldn't have happened if I had just did 2 more heats and then removed the can! Live and Learn!
It at least looks like a pretty clean break so hopefully you can set the chunk that went flying back on the billet and give it a couple of tack welds to hold it in place and heat and beat it back together
Damn that sucks!
перчик положить забыл, кто знает тот поймет
lol...YES i DID...HOPEFULLY THE CAN WILL COME OFF PRETTY EASY...WE WILL SEE

Nice! Newer smith here. Please explain what apperars to be a 1/8 th in hole drilled in the corner of your canister with a brass rod broken off in place please?
it is done to relieve any pressure built up during the heating process
so basically a vent hole

Long tonges work good but this is handmade and unique ill have to get me one thanks for the website and keep on hammerin 💪
