Thanks 🤙🏼
love it mate!
Thanks mate. One day I’ll make a decent vid, meanwhile I’ll take inspiration from Last Rasp!
Good review thanks. You may want to think about removing the small engine sump and clean your oil pickup mesh filter. Also VVTi filter screens. One each side of the engine. Easily accessible crom the front. Fourby4Diesel on youtube has made these suggestions on his channel. Very helpful hints from you both..
Thanks Michael 🤙🏼 funny you mention that! I actually made a video of the process. The video never made it to TH-cam due to filming issues and I wasn’t about to pull it apart again. Your spot on with this suggestion as I’m sure most FJ and V6 Prado’s have never had the VVTi filters changed, the Toyota dealership told me they had never sold a set! Obviously it’s something they don’t do either.
is it necessary to follow the Toyota temperature procedure?
I measured how much I removed and put the same amount back in. However if you don’t know the history of your FJ I would follow the Toyota temperature procedure. Great question 🤙🏼
I'm not sure how I missed this video. Thanks for showing us through the list of what to look for. 👍🏼
Hopefully now the list stops for a while!
I have just purchased one. Could you post a video on setting up the shower.
Nice, congrats! Unfortunately our Vista doesn’t have a shower, we use a shower tent attached to the car. If you go back through my videos there is one on that if it helps.
Works for me as well. Thanks for saving my FJ
Happy to help 🤙🏼
What motor do you have in this?
Beetle belongs to a friend of mine, check the main channel for the full video 🤙🏼
10 year's! You must mean 10 days
😂 I’m guessing you don’t like FJ cruiser.
I stripped one of the housing bolts because I thought it was only loose won’t come out anymore not sure what to do
That probably needs to go to a specialist mechanic, good luck and hope it’s an easy fix!
I had a cross threaded bolt that broke off when taking my thermostat housing off I ended up drilling it completely out with cutting oul and a carbide drill tip then I tapped it with new threads.. make sure to drill slow and use plenty of oil when doing so..just finished doing tonight any questions lmk
Nice work 🤙🏼
The undercarriage is mint 🔥
Yes she’s a very loved and looked after FJ 🤙🏼
Tokyo Drift theme ain't matching the style of Takumi 's 86
What would you suggest????
Have the blinking problem with my FJ. At first it wasn’t blowing cool air, now every time I turn the AC on my car shakes. Going to buy the part and see if this works.. has this happened to anyone else? any advise?
Definitely try the relay first, then I’d be checking the serpentine belt and making sure the A/C compressor mount isn’t broken. Good luck 🤞🏼
Funny havent had a single one of these problems with ny 2012 aus FJ or with my 2017 model. Maybe its cuz i dont treat them like shit?
Well if enjoying your FJ as intended is treating it like shit, then so be it!
I've done the same mode but I've introduce a security foot switch to switch of the torque converter lock up.
Sounds interesting, I’d love to know more about your foot switch. Constantly reaching over to click the button is a bit of a pain!
Thank you for posting this video. Just exchanged the piece as you instructed and I once again have a/c in this Florida heat. Plus I was able to save myself a couple hundred dollars if not more. Thanks again!!!
Happy to help 🤙🏼
That video was just what I was looking for Just purchased a 12 black fj and was thinking the Engel 38 would be a good choice. Would really like to put my 95l waeco in somehow.
Happy to help 🤙🏼
Hi, i bought the same exact blaupunkt player, for 20$, new in box. But the problem with it is that it keeps freezing and not reacting to comands. Do you know if it's a software problem?
Mine is still working perfectly 🤙🏼
How did you get the wire to the exterior of the fridge?
That’s a good question but I don’t get into the technical aspect of the install as that’s a job for an auto electrician.
I had steering slop in my FJ. I replaced my lower control arm bushings with Whiteline bushings, new tie rods and that literally was a night and day difference. Most of the abuse on my FJ is from high speed desert driving, surprise jumps and hard landings. I notice the idlers tend to make noises after a deep water crossing so I keep spares. My FJ is an old 2007 but it still takes a beating. Overall, great trucks as long as you don't need more space.
So true, yes I think replacing the steering rack was unnecessary, good call on the lower control arm bushes. I forgot to mention that in the vid. I replaced the whole arm with a Pedders arm that has new bushes and lower ball joint. 🤙🏼
It's not good to hear you have cracked your tank...I have the same tank and have done many corrugations, resulting in a few deep dents on the tank bottom. My tank is only 1 year old hopefully it can survive another 9 years like yours lol.
My tank was one of the first ones built. I understand they have made some changes to the tank in the area where mine cracked. It’s been perfect ever since.
@@OutbackTouringHow far can you still travel after the low fuel light is on mate? I have once travelled 70km after the light on and the fuel gauge is positioning below the E line😂… but I went to servo and have only put in 97L which means still 18L left? So what’s the deal? Can you run the fuel gauge all the way down till it reaches big letter E?
@@wujohn598 I can get around 100km after the light goes on, I also run a scan gauge which tells me distance to empty. I asked LRA if they could adjust my fuel gauge but it didn’t make any difference. Probably the only downside to the replacement tank.
Is there post to be a gasket around that kind of thermostat
Just the O ring type that seats in the housing. Mine is still leak free to this day.

Absolutely correct, an adjustment bar will put the geometry even further out when in motion , you need to start with a level bar.
Thanks, yes unfortunately some seem to still think and adjustable bar is the fix but we know better 🤙🏼
My 2007 fj does not have the capability to turn VSC off 😢,unless I unplug the harness from brake reservoir,VSC sucks in snow
Did not know that, in Australia our earliest FJ is 2011 🤙🏼
Nice to hear that you are more satisfied with the BP-51 coilovers. I bought my FJ with +/- 200k km. It is a 2012 model year manual transmission, the first owner (German fellow) imported it brand new from the US, used it for about 7 years then decided to sell it. So I jumped on the deal. Never regretted it since. It was still running on the original suspension, but the inspection showed that the rear ones were almost finished off and the front ones were also getting close to their end. I was thinking about several options Icon, Pedders, Dobinson ... but at the end I decided to go for the OME BP-51, and I did it all around, in the rear with the middle strength springs. I am also very pleased with them. No issues so far. I did quite a few mods on it. ARB front air locker, ARB compressor, ARB breather kit, Nitro re-gearing to 4.56 as I installed 295 / 70 R 17 Cooper STT Pro mud tyres, custom made steel bumpers front and rear, custom made skid plates, Nilight off road led lights, and quite a few small items. There are still some other stuff that \I am planning for. But I am really happy with the car and how it behaves on our Transylvanian dirt roads up in thehills and mountains.
Great to hear your happy with the BO51 suspension too, your FJ sounds amazing! They really are a great Rig 🤙🏼
Great little video mate. I only recently replaced my with cheap eBay ones....They did fit well. But I'll definitely check these out when the time rolls around again.
These are a perfect fit too mate, I understand a online store is on the way very soon. I’ll be sure to update the links 🤙🏼

115L Long Range Automotive replacement main tank Not a Long Ranger tank They're two completely different companies Long Range Automotive is in Lilydale Vic and do a 125L sub tank as well as the replacement main tank Long Ranger is in NSW and only does a sub tank
You are correct Mike, the tank I have is the 115lt from Long Range Automotive in Lilydale. How these two manufacturers can have such a similar name is beyond me. I’ll put a link to their page to correct my mistake. Thanks for the pick up there 🤙🏼 longrangeautomotive.com.au/Contact-Long-Range-Automotive

Beautiful! Cold chisel method worked well after I rounded the hex plug. Thanks.
Happy to help 🤙🏼
Great vid! Mines done 90k and I’ve had to do the passenger CV seal, air-con relay and drivers side CV failed ( probably my fault that one 😅) Starter motor got a bit of mud and water in it on a particularly wet track and wouldn’t start the next day. Just drained it with the little bung on the bottom and gave it whack, no issues since. Wouldn’t want to change it, have heard it’s a nightmare…
Good to hear of a FJ actually been used as intended 🤙🏼 water is probably the only thing that scares me in the bush, I avoid deep especially muddy water. I forgot about that A/C relay, did a whole vid on it too 😂
Thankyou for your long term update. Your Videos are always well thought out and informative. You have pointed out some possible issues that i wasn't aware of . I have a Red 2016 FJ called Elmo. Has been everywhere as well, but been solid as a rock. Absolute Keeper in my view. Keep up the good work. Look forward to more content!
Thanks mate much appreciated, Elmo is a great name for an FJ! Ours is just boring old FJ. Awesome yours gets out and about too, they belong on the tracks 🤙🏼
Did you run any lift with the new suspension? Did you have to change the UCA’s or was that just to keep it all the same? Thinking of getting these for my FJ, video’s are great, keep it up.
Yes I changed the upper control arms and running 2inch lift. Very happy with the BP51 so far, I’m going to do a follow up vid on the FJ with an upgrade on mods and ownership after 12 years, stay tuned 🤙🏼
Looks great. Which way does the air blow? Away from the freezer or towards it?
Great question and I didn’t answer that on the vid. It blows towards the freezer. As you can move the head the air flow can be adjusted.
Thank you for a no nonsense video
No problem, happy to help, I’m trying to be direct straight to the point, personally I hate vids that go on and on just for watch times.
Looks like a brilliant unit. Good work.
It works really well, seems to just stabilise the fridge temperature.
Do you think it sounds much different
Definitely sounds different and is louder, maybe with a bit more bark if you know what I mean. It’s a good cheap OEM style upgrade to a GTS CAT back.
Thank you for reply. I will definitely look into it.
I have a lock up kit fitted to my 200 series, and I must say that I have mixed feelings about its usefulness. Firstly I modified it to only operate in manual mode and only in 6th and 5th gear to try and hold the transmission in gear longer when going up a small hill for instance, as you only have to breathe on the throttle and it wants to change down. It works reasonably well in that regard, but when it comes out of lockup back to 4th say, it can be a bit harsh if you have your foot on it. Other than that , it does not give me any better fuel economy, and it find it only useful when towing on reasonably flat terrain. I only use it occasionally.
Your comment sums up a torque converter lock up perfectly. I’ve driven an 200 with a lock up that engages automatically, it was much better.
@@OutbackTouring Thanks for your reply to my comment. Too be fair the kit I had fitted was pretty basic, lockup was either off or on controlled by a switch, and you had to remember to turn it off when coming to a stop, as it would stall the engine, until I modified it as I said before. However I agree with you, today’s version, fully automatic would probably work a lot better.
If I had a 200 series I’d definitely get the kit that locks up automatically, I believe it was from an auto electrical company from South Australia.
Lovely car, would be pretty awesome to have that kinda power in such a small car!
Sure is with more power to come! 🤙🏼
Cool............right hand drive............looks like a later beetle...........looks heavily modified
Check out the full episode on the channel 🤙🏼
Looks good mate, have u noticed any difference in freezer temp or power consumption since doing this mod? Another guy actually added another temp controller to his fan mod for a more precise fridge compartment temp control. TFS. Cheers
Hay mate, no difference in freezer temperature, maybe gets cooler quicker, very slight increase in power consumption due to the fan itself but the compressor doesn’t run as much so the net result is less power consumption overall. I don’t think the temperature control is an issue, the fan definitely results in the controller set hotter probably because the fridge doesn’t have to work as hard to maintain temperature.
@@OutbackTouring gr8 result then, thanks for ur reply.
No problem anytime 🤙🏼
