When I was in high school back in the 1960's , I saw a lot of Louisville , Kentucky area groups perform at my high school on a Friday night and one of those groups were the RUGBYS featuring STEVE MCNICOL ! There were many local groups that I got to see including SOUL INC , THE KEYS , THE CARNATIONS , THE TREN - DELLS , and many others . All of these bands were very good and it's a shame that only a handful of them got any notable national attention .

Yes, he owes a lot to Atkins, Reed & Co., but he is flying the flag for this style, as is Tommy Emmanuel - I think these two are the premier performers in this field at the moment.
