Love it man❤❤❤
I spray my boots too. Good stuff.
Did you actually smoke it? What flavor chips?
Enjoyed and went out and tried it Did not turned out what I wanted but can go back to flat black and start over .
So, you don’t want to show us?
Good Video and I have that pot call.
We have 20 wild turkeys. We love them. And we don't kill them 😢😢😢😢😢
Thinning the jakes out cant hurt!
So helpful thank you!
I don't hunt but i want turkeys to eat grass and bugs. A wild turkey hen has been in our yard this spring. I want her to stay close and more to join her. Would giving her wild game food and fresh water encourage her to stay close?
Turkeys move around during the year. I have a peice of property that during the fall/winter has 0 turkeys. But come spring they are everywhere.
First thing, Do not put fingers on the box. Then Demonstrates calls with fingers on box 😂
Just got the same pot call today! Thankfully I found your video! Never would have noticed the little sand paper for roughing up the glass. Great tutorial! Definitely easier to use than the mouth call
Dog proof cuffs… my hatch has Improved like no other. Our local gov needs to get with the program and open raccoon season year round. We as a people wait until it’s too late until they take action, same as the pencil pushers that make our hunting and trapping laws. Sometimes you got to do what’s right even if it’s not what the piece of paper says on these turd office sitters paper laws and take care of the issue yourself. Most hunters like to pull the trigger on a longbeard and take pictures and brag but don’t put in the work In the off season and it’s unfortunate
God sent this beautiful video to me thank you so very much. I wanted to buy a turkey and I was doing my relationship
Thank you for a beautiful video
Thanks dude
Is the box call good for a fall hunting?
Box call is the best in the spring, but still works in the fall. Last year I had turkeys gobbling in December.
Trapping predators, controlled burns, timber stand improvement help immensely
Timber stand improvement. Prescribed fire. Trapping predators. Great video!
This channel is a great source of info. I'm located in north east Kentucky. I have been interested in contacting a local fire department to see if they'd like to come light my property on fire as a training mission.
I reckon it's too late for me to tell you never smoke a roll of bologna and serve to your friends, if you intend on keeping them.
Cant roll my tongue. Never understood how in the world people do such a thing lol cant whistle either
How is it like gargling water? The water does all of the work lol literally all youre doing is blowing air through the water
Hi Larry....names Dave.....and u my friend ROCK!
I looked at a bunch of different videos on painting sticks and this one is absolutely the best. I’m glad I happened across it. Thanks for taking the time to post your method. Mine came out great. I painted my Muddys and my Predator platform, and also painted my Lone Wolf sticks too. Not only better looking than my buddies, but these things literally disappear on a tree!
Glad the technique worked for you. Thanks for watching and good luck this season. Only a few months to go.
Red don't in another man's spot!
Kentucky public land rules are all stands are to be removed two weeks after the close of deer season. That stand has been there for the past 5 years at least and looks longer than that. I consider it abandoned and I mark every stand I find to avoid hunting around them. Never seen another person in this area which tells me it is 1) abandoned 2) a poacher. Maybe I should just contact the authorities and let them take the stand down.
Is it still only good for about a month in the car?
I’m not exactly sure how long it lasts in the car. I usually treat my truck once or twice during deer season and have not found ticks inside the truck. I would think that the warmer days of early season would cause a breakdown in the vehicle quicker because of higher temps inside the truck or car.
Any man that doesn't carry a box call spends a night in the box.
*What's your "go-to" call when turkeys are in close?*
Nice video keep up the good work same thing I do lol
You know what Iike I I got my 2 turkey a jake geting it mouted
I really don’t know. My favorite slate/glass call is the primos purple haze. And the one you’re using
Thanks that was really helpful. I’ve been in a few scenarios where I needed this knowledge.
Glad it was helpful! Good luck this season!
Thanks I’m going in the morning I’ve been hunting a big gobbler for 2 days. Maybe tomorrow.
I use a box call. They all have there place but box calls where one of the most helpful for beginners
I agree. Makes turkey sounds for the most part right out of the package with little effort.
*What type of calling surface do you prefer on your Pot Call?*
4:06 Probably the #1 mistake of all hunters. Most of them get away with it most of the time. My gun shoots low and left with the factory front bead. A red dot cured that and saved me some missed birds. Pattern your gun, folks...yes, with your hunting load.
Why would you want to call to turkeys before the season starts
I’ve always just let turkeys do what they do! The scouting season so far is terrible and doesn’t look like opening day is going to be any better
I wouldn't suggest calling turkeys before the season starts. In Kentucky, it is illegal to call turkeys with a box call, slate or pot call, or mouth call after March 1st. It is okay to use an owl or crow call to locate turkeys while scouting. An owl or crow will cause a Tom to shock gobble and let you locate their roost without calling the bird in. If it is legal where you are hunting, I still wouldn't use a call that would bring a turkey in and educate them to a hunter calling before the season opened. Hope this helps and clears up any confusion.
Thank you very much..well have to try this....We're hunting gobblers on new land this season...
Good luck this season!
New at this... well Saturday was my our 1st time out for a turkey.. all new gear.. decoy ..calls.. the works... I get to the draw we was gonna hunt.. pulled out the crow call and blew on it and of course we hear them... we walk down to set up... I go out to put the decoy out... and walk back get comfy... sit down.. look up and gobbler about 5ft away from the decoy... I tell my boy shoot him lol he tells me I ain't loaded yet and neither am I😞😪😞.. we try to open our bag up but that gobbler has us right in his sight... what an adrenaline rush but also a big heartbreak... He's gone like a ghost not to be seen again... I think this happened to get us hooked more... which it did... we will be out this Saturday again .. Good Luck this season...
That is what it is all about. Sometimes we get that Turkey, sometimes they get us. Either way that is an experience you and your son will never forget! Good luck this weekend!
Had gobbler gobblin, hens feeding 15 yrds in front of me. I got impatient & turned my head to see where he was & he was about 20 yds behind me sittin on a split rail fence lookin right at me. He saw my head turn & he disppeared.
Been there. If they see any movement that doesn't look like another turkey all you'll see is tail feathers. Good luck this season!
*Do you prefer a box call or a different type of turkey call?*
I like a mouth call and box
I use both
@@ninjakid1869 Great call especially when they are in close.
@@bristlebuckoutdoors I got a turkey today where I live youth just opened and I got anther tag I am heading out today again
@@ninjakid1869 Congratulations!
Or, you can yell, slam a car door, honk the car/truck horn, blow a whistle. Toms will pretty much shock-gobble to any loud noise, if they are in the mood.
What brand is that owl hooter call? It sounds good. I want to buy one.
The call I used in the video and still use is the Hunter Specialties Strut Limb Shaker Owl Hooter Turkey Call.
@@bristlebuckoutdoors thanks so much!
I like the crow call and I have a question for you !! Do turkeys often roost in the same stand of trees at night or a different stand of trees each night ?
Sometimes. I mostly hunt public land and turkeys will move based on cover and pressure. They will generally stay in the same area but will use different roost sites. If you are hunting on private land with good cover and little pressure, you will probably find them in the same roost site. Good idea to use an owl call before sunrise to locate roosted gobblers and the crow call mid day.
@@bristlebuckoutdoors Are large tracts of public hunting land heavily congested with hunters these days or is it fairly safe ? I want to hunt public forest land is my reason for asking ?
@@jeffreyelliott622 Some tracts of land are heavily hunted. Look for smaller pieces of property as these are often overlooked by many hunters. If you use OnX or HuntStand, do some online scouting. If the public you want to hunt has a lot of access points it’s probably going to be busy opening week. Are you hunting in Kentucky?
👍
Put this to use this season
Best of luck in the turkey woods. They're starting to talk in Kentucky.
*_*What has worked to reduce the impact of predators on your hunting property?*_*
I don’t think they jump the sound of the bow I believe it’s the sound of the arrow in flight. They sound like helicopters coming down range so I’d jump that too. Stand in a safe spot down range and let somebody you trust send an arrow to the target closest to you and listen, you’ll hear the arrow flying and it usually drowns out the sound of the bow all together. Each deer is different in the way they react to it as well. I’ve shit deer that we’re alert at 60 yards and they never drop an inch and some completely calm at 15 that drop 3 or 4. I love watching them and seeing all their different personalities. I’ve got a piece of property that the deer are allowed to grow up on with no fear of getting shot except the 3 to 5 we take every year and watching them deer has taught me a significant amount about em. There’s a set of twins that are three now and big massive wide 6 points that look nearly identical but the way they act is night and day different. One of em is calm as can be and the other is always aggressive towards other deer. There’s another set of smaller twins and one of them grunts nearly every step he takes and the other I believe may be a mute, I’ve never heard him make a noise.
Good idea but 1 property I hunt has so many crows around that the birds will not gobble even if the crows are right over their head cawing like mad, they just ignore it.
I’ve seen some places like you are describing. Have you found some other way to get them to gobble besides a crow call midday or later in the afternoon?
@@bristlebuckoutdoors Not other than coyote howl or owl but owl doesn't seem to work later in the day and I hate using coyote when the birds are already on the ground since I've seen how some respond to it but running or jumping into the closest tree. The crows are a big problem but we can't kill enough to put a dent in their numbers. Sometime a loud cut will get them to shock gobble but it can be really tough sometimes.
What mistakes have you made that cost you a gobbler?
Like you, I was impatient and moved to soon. He was only 50 yards away and quiet. He would have been in within 5-10 minutes more than likely. I got him 3 days later when he tried to demolish my jake. Eastern, 21.8 pounds, 12 inch beard, inch and a half spurs.
@@burthorton1867 That’s a great bird! Good luck this season.
Got hit by the "benelli " click last week with my new gun, even though it's a stoeger m3020. Same basic action. Called a tom for 2-1/2 hours, he steps out at 25 yards, gives me the perfect shot aaaannnnndddd click. Action wasn't quite shut. Same situation as you mentioned. Bad thing is my neighbor has always warned his son about this every time we hunted but it wasn't something I needed to worry about with the old Remington 870. Worse part is this a double beard turkey that looks like he's growing a second set of spurs. Biggest gobbler on our property, I was alone with no one else to back me up and take that bird.
@@redneckninja2539 Maybe you’ll get on him again. Good luck!
Great info, you a crow call often myself. Tks for your info. Kirby
