The purpose of this instructional video is to enhance the non-verbal communication between the R1 and R2 referees, as well as the coaches, players, and fans whenever a violation requires the referee to signal the player’s number who committed the violation.

hello ! i'll have to be a referee for the first time a couple of days later so i watched your video, but i noticed some signs that i never saw in all of the sources i looked up. Are these the old signs or are all those still used ?
Most are valid. legal back row attack has changed and ball below net has been added.
@@dfulf1 really ? Because i saw other version of some signs shown here, like for example with illegal attacks and misposition etc
@@yacoutg3304 not sure what signals you are referring to and don't know what you mean by "misposition" maybe alignment? I think the signal for illegal back row attack and over the net (another illegal attack) are correct.
@@dfulf1 @dfulf1 yeah i did mean alignment, sorry Also basically i checked on multiple other sources and the sign i found for illegal attack was raising the arm *straight* and bending it forming a 90° angle too but with the hand pointing the opposing team (not the one who committed the fault) wheras in the video the the hand is pointing to the front...
@@yacoutg3304 back row attack is correct. It sounds like you are referring to over the net signal when you refer to "pointing to the opposing team" which is also correct in the video.

I don't understand in Volleyball there is number only between 1 and 20.
If the game is huge like sea games or whatever, they can go higher than 20 :)
@@roselizzettemanlapaz9464 ok I understand in France you are not allowed to have more than 20 players on your game sheet.
@@mehdisovitch oh, what I mean is the number on the shirt :) they can go randomly from 1 to 20 or higher than 20. That's what I read anyway :)
Uniform numbers can go to 99
@@looiegreen5518 Yes 1 to 20 is specific of the French League but our libero has 99 with the French Team.

Why doesn't the US use International rules and international signals like most of the world?
+The Terrier USAV does use the FIVB signals with modified rules. Most High Schools belong to NFHS which uses some different signals and rules but the books are getting closer together.
Where is the signal number 17.
Thanks for the video. Nice and Clean. New rule for 2016 cancels Illegal Substitution signal and replaces with a Yellow Card Warning.
