I'm Antiochian, a five year convert in the US. My first Pascha was spent in my prayer corner as my Parish shut it's doors during COVID. It was then that I discovered the Russian Old Believers and ordered their prayerbook from the Church of the Nativity in Erie, Penn. A large part of what we're experiencing now can more easily be understood by studying the Raskol. The Old Orthodox Prayerbook has really sustained me as I continue in my Antiochian Parish. I cross myself the proper way, refuse to bow during the improper chanting of the alleluias, recite the Creed the proper way and observe the Julian Calendar. The seem ok with it because after all, it's whatever I'm comfortable with.😊 As a side note I asked my priest (great man, love him dearly) if it was ok for me to pray or sing praise songs with my Protestant wife when I accompany her to a holiday service at her "church". His response was exactly, "whatever you're comfortable with".

Honest question: at 5:52, one can see an icon of Abp Seraphim of Sofia. Do most True Orthodox consider him a saint? Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought he reposed as a member of the MP synod. If this isn't true, I'd very much like to venerate him given his Orthodox stance against ecumenism and the new soteriologists.
Thank you for your question, Alexander. I'm not sure, really. We've had that ikon years before 2016, the year the MP glorified him and we did not question it at the time. Though he was in Bulgaria, it would be worth looking more into his connection with the MP.
@@elevationmonastery7107Apparently, he was at the Moscow Congress of 1948 and joined (Etna says reluctantly) the MP after WWII and was with it until his repose. Vladika Enoch might know more since he has mentioned Abp Seraphim's name in videos before.
Thank you Alexander. Vladyka Enoch came to my mind the moment I read your first question. We did have some controversial figures in our collection and had removed them a few years ago, after we realized that we had purchased the unawares at the time. Fortunately, for instance, after just a little reading up on the new Russian figure Luke the Surgeon, whose popularity has increased in recent years, it was important to conclude that someone who accepts & receives Joseph Stalin's award for good service ought to be, and is an instant red flag. Therefore, we chose not to add that ikon to our folders upon realization. Those boxed ikon prints rotate daily; that is, each day a different ikon is in view, the more or less main saint of the day (which also depended on which ikons were available for purchase) - an eastern saint towards the right, and a western saint towards the left. Because of the small & confined space, it's not the most ideal arrangement, but it's what the Lord has provided at present. +Blessings, ...

This is the path of the original Christians as blatantly shown in acts of the apostles and even all of the apocryphal acts books the monastic way is front and center and even a requirement to join but you could still be married but sleep not together as to avoid temptation. Very fascinating stuff and makes me realize how much mother church has laxed and shown mercy to marriage and the family but i believe that to be the result of legalization of Christianity and hince we then get the dessert fathers.

That is correct. It is unorthodox to create images of God the Father or of God the Holy Spirit, the exception to the latter being the image of a dove at the Baptism of our Lord in the Jordan. However, this image here is not of God the Father; rather, this image, or ikon, is of the Logos, the Creator, God the Son, also known as the Ancient of Days. It is natural in Orthodox tradition to have numerous images of Christ God whether He is depicted as Enthroned, as Teacher, as Crucified, as Resurrected, or as the Ancient of Days.
