Successful Fishing on a New Stretch!
The last couple of months have been hard fishing. I was initially out on the River Thames dead baiting for Pike in the morning but wasn’t too keen on the colour of the water.
I packed up and went home to go to a stretch of river nearby. I then realised that i hadn’t fished this stretch yet and was told by one of you guys that it was producing some chub!
I had some frozen spam and lob worms. I was in a number of swims on one river then walked about 100 meters to another river. Within 10 minutes i was on to a nice chub! Very chuffed i had moved on down the river, seeing rises from what looked like a chub. I continued on and finally got my second of the afternoon!
Ill definitely be coming back after such a positive afternoon.
I hope you enjoyed this video and thanks for watching.

Back on a local river and giving an update on past sessions. It has been very tough to say the least. I’ve been up in Scotland and North Yorkshire and had zero bites! Im hoping after this dry spell, i’ll get rewarded with something big. Im still outdoors and getting the rods out which is the main thing. Thanks for watching. Fishing for Pike & Perch in Scotland
มุมมอง 44519 วันที่ผ่านมา
Im back in Scotland fishing for pike and perch. Although I didn’t catch any, it was lovely to remind myself of some lovely memories of fishing here with my Grandad. The cold wind and low water made it a tough day, but I persisted to the end. Hopefully I can catch some trout when Im back up there next. Please comment, like and subscribe! Finding Lots Of Roach In This Tiny River!
มุมมอง 1.2Kหลายเดือนก่อน
So i’m on the lookout for new Chub spots this winter. I go to this stretch of river where I grew up when I was younger for the first time and I manage to find Roach… lots of them! I was using a bomb and managed to get a fair few but then switched over to the float at the end which was definitely the way forward. I haven’t fished for Roach a lot in the past but I’m definitely going to be coming ...
The Nicest Place To Fish For Pike!
มุมมอง 1.3Kหลายเดือนก่อน
I’m back on this special venue that holds lots of pike. They’re not very big but they put a bend on the rod. What’s best is the surroundings. All sorts of wildlife about and is a dream to just sit there and take it all in. Thankfully I caught one. I thought it was gonna be a blank because of tough conditions but this place never seems to disappoint. I’ll definitely be making more visits to this...

MASSIVE Barbel From The River Thames!
มุมมอง 3.1K2 หลายเดือนก่อน
Im back on the River Thames on the search for a bigger Barbel after last weeks antics and wow did it pay off! I was about to pack up and as always, i look at my rod for a couple of minutes hoping something would magically take my bait (it never does). After about 10 seconds of looking, there was a big knock at the end of my rod, i paused for 2-3 seconds then my rod tip just started slowing bend...

If you’ve been watching my youtube videos then you know i’v been working hard over the weeks trying different swims on this new stretch and it paid off! Told you in the last video to get down the Moor and I see it worked. Also give staines Moor a try
@@markhurst8425 Certainly did Mark, thank you mate 👍🏻. I will also look into Staines Moor. I remember seeing big carp by Vue Cinema in Staines when i was a boy
@RoveWithTom thanks tom at some point when I have time I'll send you some map pins for a few more spots that hold carp n barbel as i really enjoyed your videos and I never get time to fish them and it's a shame to let them go to waste
Well done mate, it looked lovely.
@MarkBagger Thank you Mark. It is a lovely stretch, still lots more to explore.
Well in Tom, I proper struggled today.
@fishingvanlife Thanks Chris. It’s hard going isn’t it. Was nice to finally see a fish 😂
@@RoveWithTom makes it sll the better, when it happens
Perseverance (and frozen Spam)! Nice work 👏✊
@@themagicoffishing Cheers mate, was nice to get a bend in the rod!
Weirdly, I'm in my worst ever run of blanks, and I'm old! Had a belter of a summer with personal best barbel and chub, and then zilch. Thrown every kind of bait and presentation at the problem. Chasing silvers now, just for a nibble.
@@borderlands6606 I find it fascinating how it can just “turn off” and struggle to catch. Makes you wonder how much the weather and any other factors affect the fish feeding. Chasing what I can at the moment too with different baits and still having fun which is the main thing 👍🏻🎣 Tight lines.
Keep perservering. Been slow going for me down in Somerset for the last few weeks. I really do worry about the pollution going into our rivers and how that could be affecting the fishing. Great video.
@fishingvanlife Thanks mate. One thing i forgot to put in this video that i did film is that on that second stretch i was in, the bailiff put up signs about how much sewage has been pumped in it. The signs got taken down 👀. They need Feargal Sharkey down here lol. Tight lines 🎣
@RoveWithTom somthing definitely needs to be done. Tight lines mate.
I fish the first 2 spots in your video used to fish very well but not so much in the last 2 years. Give Harmonsworth Moor its just a bit down streem from your first location it's been doing some good chub recently
@@markhurst8425 Hi Mark. That seems to be the case that i hear from a lot of anglers from these stretches around here. Interesting you say that, i had a walk around there in the summer! I drive over the motorway every week and pinch myself to get fishing down there. Will have to give it a go, thank you 👍🏻🎣
Keep on trucking, which I know you do, and fortunes will change ✊ The tough runs make the successes all the sweeter, but winter can be tough going for sure.
@@themagicoffishing Absolutely, John. Can only get out and keep trying. Looking forward to the summer 👍🏻☀️🎣
Nice one mate 👍, love the golf ball trick..brilliant
Good video
@@vmsdfishing6821 Thanks!
Everyone’s different but in my experience of grief (and losing my granddad in particular), you have to do what you’re doing - push through the first year or two of lonely and sad trips - and then fishing will start to feel happy again, even without him. And while you’re doing it; it’s a great way to remember and celebrate him 💙🎣🐟
@@themagicoffishing Thanks for the kind words John. Exactly what you said, its a great way to remember and celebrate him. Even though im not catching any bloody fish at the moment 🤣
Tom that was hard going, better luck with the barbel, nice way to remember your grandad .👍
@@richarddavies828 Cheers mate. The fishing has been difficult!
Some cracking fishing there Tom. Love a nice tiny stream with some welcome surprises. If it is where I think it is , there are barbel around and some good chub along with those lovely roach. Enjoyed the video a lot. 👍
@@markerd5378 Thanks Mark! Yeah i think you’re right about the stretch. The guy i spoke to hasnt caught a chub out of here for about 3 years. He said they seem to of disappeared. The barbel spot is further down i believe which i didn’t go to but will have to try it out one weekend to see if there is anything knocking about
I could do with catching some pike bait aswell
Amazing fishing
What river is this
Just came across your channel mate. Lovely venue. New sub 😊
@@fishingvanlife Hi Chris, cheers mate 👍🏻
@RoveWithTom cheers 🍻
I dream of finding where roach have shoaled up for the winter on my local rivers! Sometimes you find them and then you go back a few weeks later, or try the same swim around the same time the following year and it’s empty! But it’s a good feeling when you find them and I need to do more of this fishing this winter - roving with bread and searching them out! Good stuff 👍
@@themagicoffishing This is local to us John! Yeah i know what you mean. It was good to talk to other anglers about whats in here. Will definitely be going back with the correct tackle to target bigger Roach. Was going to go back this weekend but the weathers not the best! Cheers, i seem to be enjoying this kind of fishing the most at the moment. You just don’t know what you’re going to catch
Lovely fishing , searching a new stretch and not sure what your going to catch is always exciting . Been doing it for 50 odd years and still look forward to every session . Look forward to your next film 👍

@@tomcline8849 Hi Tom. Korum All Rounder 1.25lb rod. Korum Inferno 3000 reel. Im using Guru 1/3 oz bomb on a running ring which i cant recommend enough. Can get a really accurate cast with them. Let me know if you want to know anything else 👍🏻
Thanks Tom, is the rod 11ft or 12 it also seems to have soft top to show bites.
@ Mine is the Korum Allrounder 1.25lb 11ft. Korum also does the Allrounder Quiver Rod that comes with 3 different tips. It’s a really nice looking rod for about £55 on angling direct.

@@BarneyTrent A welcomed reset is a lovely way to put it. Thanks for sharing your thoughts 👌🏻🍂🎣
Hi Tom fishing is my safe place away from the black dog that turns up and bites me on the arse at times. Loads of leaves coming down this week which made fishing awkward but by tying some pole elastic a couple of foot above the lead on the main line it stops them all collecting around your weight so that helps. Not alot of barbel in the stretch you are fishing so its going to be hard going. Watch out for John the magic of fishing he will nick all your spots lol.No he is a great guy and I have spent a fair bit of time fishing with him and helping him to get to know the Thames. Don't let him see this because he might get all big headed lol.
@@neilwayte517 Hi Neil, thank you for your comment. There’s no better place to be when that black dog turns up. I will give that pole elastic trick a go 👌🏻. Yeah like i said, i think there will be another dry spell but im going to be venturing out a bit for some fishing over the next couple of months which should put a bend in my rod. Hahah John is bound to see your comment! I would be more than happy for the next fisherman to catch a fish out of this stretch!
Well, fishing is relaxing for me . I don't drink, don't smoke so this is my hobby.

If you're pestered by bream use more hemp and massive hookbait as Guy Rob did in one of his videos when he was fishimg the Thames.
Hi Tom, I watched all 3 of the videos many and many times. Those guys with John Baker helped me a lot in barbel fishing. Since I watched those videos, I started to roll my bait for my barbel fishing.
