Classic Mystery Radio is dedicated to bringing you high-quality entertainment via vintage mystery, suspense, detective, and dramatic programs from the Golden Age of Radio (mainly the 1940's and 50's). I love these old shows and thoroughly enjoy being transported back through the years to another time and place, when your imagination was all that was needed to be thrilled with a spellbinding story!
In keeping with broadcast codes and social/cultural mores of the day, these classic shows are refreshingly void of politics, vulgarity, profanity, sex scenes, graphic descriptions, etc. Just good, clean, mysterious entertainment!\t
Most audio in my videos has been eq'd/compressed and has received as thorough a 'clean-up' as possible without losing clarity. I make every effort to offer you the highest-quality audio possible.
I'll continue to add new shows and episodes, so please check back often.
Thank you for visiting Classic Mystery Radio!

Molle Mystery Theater-Classic Mystery Radio-"Fifty Candles"
Molle Mystery Theater-"Fifty Candles" from Classic Mystery Radio.
A ruthless businessman is murdered.
Original air date: July 25, 1944
Starring:
Roc Rogers
Dan Seymour
Molle' Mystery Theater was NBC's iteration of a popular series which aired additionally on ABC and CBS from 1943 through 1952 under several different names. It was narrated-or rather 'annotated'- by amateur criminologist Geoffrey Barnes (played by Bernard Lenlow) who helped the listener understand what was going on. Molle' (moe-lay') brand shaving cream sponsored the program.
Please note that many of these episodes are AFRS versions (Armed Forces Radio Service). They present as Mystery Playhouse, a series which picked the best of the mystery shows at the time, including this one, and broadcast them to the troops. The intros and outros were changed (most often narrated by Peter Lorre) and ads removed, but the stories themselves were left intact, and are indeed Molle' Mystery Theater episodes.

Just a short promo video for CMR's latest available series, Candy Matson YUkon 2-8209. I love Candy, Rembrandt, and Mellard (? Sp)!! Clever humor and above average writing for this time period's detective stories. If anyone here has ever read mystery novels penned by Joan Hess, I wonder if this show inspired her to write her female sleuth characters. Read a few and see what you think. Thank you for sharing this series, I appreciate you ❤
You're welcome and thank you so much for listening!
Nearly gets his girlfriend killed but still doesn't inform the police. Daddy issues?
You can’t beat RADIO….
Agree 100%!!
Like this video ❤
What a world, what a world!!!!! Great episode, thanks!
Those were the days
I thought I had heard this entire series in the past, but not this one 🎉 so I thank you
Always enjoyed this episode. Suspense Radio did the same story.
Indeed, a really good one!
There's nothing like a bit of suspense‼️😮❤
Suspense ‼️😮❤
One of the best suspense stories!
$10 a week for rent is just unbelievable! 01-13-25
😮 OMG THANK YOU VERY MUCH. We enjoyed every minute 😊 1-13-2025
So happy you enjoyed! You're welcome and thank you for listening/watching!
a whole new dimension to sinatra's talent, and kudos to agnes morehead
Couldn't agree more about Sinatra, one of the all-time multi-gifted greats. And regarding Agnes Morehead--I never knew she had a career at all pre-Bewitched until I discovered classic radio. Another great talent.
❤❤❤
😮 😢
Just got to love Larry Haynes 🏴
The Roma wine commercials are hilarious. Ms Maxwell sounds like a chain smoking alcoholic. Don't worry about fancy glasses, just drink it out of old jelly jars. Perfectly correct. 😂
Agreed! Sometimes the commercials on these old shows are almost as entertaining as the show itself haha.
Brilliant 👏 🏴
Really good 👍 these. Thanks 🌞 🏴
You're welcome--thank you so much for listening!
Awesome!!!
This story wasn't a good one. It never explained what happened to Clara and her son. 01-12-25
Yes the ending was confusing. Claire narrated that her sister set herself on fire and ran out of the house. Clearly Claire survived because we hear her talking to the nurse in presumably a mental hospital. But then it seems that something happened when they were little girls where Claire tied up her sister then set her on fire and the entire thing was her imagination since she'd been in that hospital for the criminally insane after killing her sister. Just a theory.
@@pakde8002Thank you for responding to my comment. I listened to the story a few more times and still couldn't figure it out.
Yes, I'm a little confused myself by the ending, but the acting was so fabulous!
Tx, i will not bother
"well calculated to keep you in...ANXIETY" Thank you so much Bob & Ray.
WOR New York City.
I love Suspense, and this episode made good use of the fact that Boris Karloff was typecasted in creepy scary roles. Appreciate your show notes, and the images you’ve created with the AI.
Boris Karloff, one of the best ever. Thank you for your kind compliments and for listening/watching!
LOVE Boris Karloff in anything! Thanks
Yes, one of my all-time favorites. You're welcome and thank you for listening!
I’m really impressed by the quality of your videos-they’re fantastic! While reviewing your channel, I noticed there’s room for improvement in terms of video views and rankings. May I share a few tips that can help you reach your goals faster?
He does not need tips from you! The channel is doing fine on its own.
Nice twist at the end.😱
Love this story. 'Murder At Midnight' did it right.
Thanks for your quick fix and re upload. Great to hear a new series ❤
You're welcome--thank you for your patience! And thank you for listening!

Welcome and thank you for listening!
thanks for this
@@ThePodEpic You're welcome! Thank you for watching!
I love the work you've done, thank you for packaging and posting these radio shows. Does the new overdubbed voice at the end somehow help your engagement numbers somehow? It's particularly annoying, and really off putting.
You are very welcome--I'm go glad you're enjoying! The new clip at the end was an experiment to find out several things and has been helpful indeed. Several viewers, though, expressed the same thing you did so it will no longer be attached to future uploads.
@ Thanks for the response. I'm glad to hear it. I applaud trying new things, but applaud your ability to take criticism even more! I really do enjoy listening to your channel as I work through the day. Many thanks.
