Starring:
Wilbur Hatch (music)
The Whistler was a mystery/suspense radio show, the main star of which was the ironic twist at the end of almost every episode. Usually a criminal's activity was exposed either by an overlooked (vital) detail or by their own stupidity. The Whistler himself narrated, often commenting directly upon the action, taunting the criminal from an omniscient perspective.
Each dramatic episode began with the whistling of a haunting tune which was composed by Wilbur Hatch and featured Dorothy Roberts whistling with an orchestra.
"I am The Whistler, and I know many things, for I walk by night. I know many strange tales, hidden in the hearts of men and women who have stepped into the shadows. Yes....I know the nameless terrors of which they dare not speak."
Visit www.classicmysteryradio.com to listen to hundreds of episodes of The Whistler as well as other classics like Suspense, Broadway Is My Beat, Johnny Dollar, Ellery Queen, etc.

You're quite welcome! I'm so glad they bring back such happy memories. Thank you for listening!
As a 40s Boomer, we grew up with the radio on somewhere in the house...my grandma loved the radio... different radio series and of course we listen to the radio programs too as we played or napped, etc. Finally, we got our first 25 inch Philco blonde cabinet TV in early 52 (and we no longer went across the street to watch kiddie programs with our school friends)...but the radio programs still went on in our home....until 1957 and then am radio was all about Rock n Roll 🎶for us. LOL
What awesome memories! Thank you for sharing and thank you for listening!
Didn’t see that coming 😮
This one was fun!

@@bhornannawindeedeigh5007 You're welcome! Thank you for listening!
@mysteryradio9180 It's my pleasure; I appreciate you and your channel. I used to listen to OTR - specifically CBSRMT - in the early to mid-70s when I was in high school, on a little red transistor radio from Sears, lol! Loved it, but I had to be sneaky about it because it came on late at night, right before Wolfman Jack came on with rock and roll history with his Midnight Special radio show! Ahh, "those were the days, my friend. We thought they'd never end. We'd sing and dance forever and a day. We lived the life we choose. We'd fight and never lose. Oh, we were young and sure to have our day! La la la la la la... ". Yes... I'm quite old and feeling very nostalgic. My apologies for prattling on and on. Ü Thanks again for the episodes of CBSRMT and The Whistler.
@@bhornannawindeedeigh5007 What an awesome post! I'm nostalgic for those days right along with you!
I wonder if these stories will ever run out. ❤❤❤
There were 500+ Whistler episodes that are still available, so...
These stories are fantastic ❤😁
When I've done all the Whistlers once, I'm going to listen again ❤😁
I've done the same thing haha.
Reminds me the murder by the book from the Columbo series
Yes, excellent observation (and memory)!
