Hello, can someone help me, I have the same problem as in this video, my car is at the mechanic and can't find a malfunction, my car simply shuts down after 5 seconds and I can hear the fuel in these hoses as in this video, does any of you know what the malfunction is, the pumps have been checked and are working
if my car came with ekpm2 originally would i have to custom edit code?
I'm assuming I need to run new 10 ga wires from battery (fused to 35 amps) to the B+ on this controller, and 10 ga wire from a ground to this controller, and again 10 ga wires from FP and G to the fuel pump? 40 amps seems like it's too much for the stock wiring, but you didn't mention it in the video
For a stage 2 upgrade its not mandatory to replace the wires with 10ga. The installation instructions are available on the ET3design.com website.
Can’t get it to work for f30
It works on my F30. Provide some details about what you're seeing and I will try to help.
What temperature does this usually fail at? I’m suspecting the driver in that module and I’m getting readings of it going up to 130-140 Celsius then shuts of shortly after.
Interesting. Did you measure the temps to get this info.
I just got the Bluetooth adapter, and I installed pro tools app and I paid for the coding software, but it is not working.Can you help me please. It identifies everything for 15 minutes. After that, it doesn't work
Do you need to code them in?
Yes, all replacement EKPM modules should be coded. Some suppliers claim plug and play but they have default coding that will not control the fuel delivery intended for your specific vehicle. Our modules also have default coding so your car will run without you coding it, but it will not be optimized for your vehicle. My son has 2012 328I and it shuts off during the day when it's hot. He let's the car cool off for 5 minutes, then able to drive it. BMW recommends replacing the fuel pump and ekps. My mechanic says the fuel pump is fine. From watching video's i see that most are saying to replace the fuel pump control module (ET3 design) What do you think? Thank you so much!
You should be able to just replace the EKPM.
If you have well over 100000 miles I'd say replace the fuel pump as well. I made a heatsink and a fan to keep it cool. Now it stays at room temps.
Excellent video. It is so easy to code the upgraded EKP.

Does the pump start pumping the fuel when the ignition is on or when the engine is turning?

Correction: No pump running sound is heard when opening the door nor the key is on.
Hello so I have a 2014 335i Code 481b03 popped up tonight. I was driving around town, only when I arrived home and sit in the car it popped up. Car just won’t start now. I’ll try again in the morning. Would buying a new fuel pump module fix my issue?
The 481b03 code could be caused by a failing EKPM but can't say with 100% certainty. There was also a recall for the LPFP on some 2014 models. for the 335i the effected production dates are OCT 07, 2013 - MAR 05, 2014. I suggest you check to see if your vehicle in on the recall list before replacing the EKPM.
E46 is it at the same spot?
2014 f30 bmw 320i Xdrive today I got a p0087 (fuel rail system, pressure to low) code again and car went into limp mode (with a full tank of gas) I was able to drop the car off at a shop and they will have a look in the morning, they are thinking “very likely” the lpfp. But has anyone else experienced these issues and figure what work for them? My best guess is Low pressure fuel pump or fuel pump control module The message that pops up is “Fuel Supply, drive moderately….etc”

I have f30 340i would I need this and upgraded lpfp with dual Walbro 450s or I can run e85 with just the stage 2 ekpm3

I don’t think this is my issue, my car stalls only when I get to a quarter of a tank , as soon as I add more fuel, it starts and runs normal
Did you finally find a solution ? Same thing here 435i n55 stalling when on quarter of a tank and go normal when a little more ?

Well that could be the fuel pump? You getting code? 481B03?
Either the float on your fuel pump is sticking causing an incorrect reading or it’s inside your cluster.
Thats ur pump. Not enough pressure at quarter tank most likely
Can this module cause your radiator fan to kick into a high speed when faulty or malfunctioning?

What kind of scanners ik obd2 but do you have to have a specific professional scanner to program the module and battery for when you doba battery change

A fuel pump does not need a control unit. Can't I just bypass the unnecessary electronics? Is there anything stopping me from doing that? It's a BMW, so I'm used to dozens of codes being on at any given time. Is there any greater problem than throwing codes? Also, wouldn't a bad controller give a code? I don't have a code for this, but my new fuel pump with good fuse and relay don't work every time I hit the ignition. It works SOMETIMES. This car hasn't started in 6 months. I don't understand how people can deal with BMWs. New coil packs, new plugs, new injectors (less than 1000 miles), new fuel pump (0 miles), new MAF (0 miles, had a code for that), good quality battery two years old.
They have 2 fuel pumps did you replace the high pressure pump or low pressure? I am under the impression The EKP module regulates the pressure under load.
The red and blue wires coming from ekp module on mine short when ignition is on is that normal ? I thought red was positive and blue negative ? I have crank no start😢
Will this work with a 335diesel as well? I tried a Walbro 535 pump in the tank but cannot have it work properly. With Protool voltage fix it works alright for a few days but the EKPM3 module slows the pump down too much where it will stall. On original coding it’ll throw a fault code immediately and the pump will run only full power.

Can you still use the stock plugs on the stage 2 model Just don’t wanna cut the plug. Only running a 450 pump
im gettin cel when fuel is low, ground short in stage 2 lpfp.power is shut from the ac and makin weird noises under hood. is this cause my ekpm3 is goin bad or the pump is drawin to much makin it go bad? iv never pushed the car(335i). and its super hot here this summer

Did you ever found out?
The coding is an anti theft system so you can’t just put a part from one car on another. It’s tied to that vehicles vin# so you have to encode it before it will function properly.

So this why my 328i 2013 model when it’s hot; the Fuel Supply(drive moderately) comes on and it shuts down. I sit on the side of the road for 5 minutes and it starts up. I just ordered my new fuel pump control module. I just replaced the battery and new fuel pump and it still shut down on a hot day. Now I know the issue. Thanks
Did getting a new one fix it? Also did you get a oem one and did you have to code it?

hmm? I've been running a stage 2 pump since 2015 on the stock EKPM3. Never had a problem.

To purchase the correct Stage 2 EKPM3 use the Amazon Fitment tool located above the module description and photo. Enter your vehicle information and check the results. If not compatible, click on the link to the other EKPM3 model available and check with the amazon fitment tool.
Can I code this with Protool after install?
Yes I did mine with protool. My car was a 2008 e93 335i with his stage 2 ekpm

@@geo335st you don't need too, there's a discreet modification that reports half the power use to the dme so the ekp takes 40amp to trigger an error

@@bigslide9660 I had the same issue. Do you have the option to do the voltage fix? Also pull the fuel pump assembly and make sure all the hoses are connected. My hose popped off. You can check this in protool as well in the live data if you are not getting enough fuel pressure on your low side.

Does the EKPS degrade and start overheating by itself? Or is it because the fuel pump starts to wear, causing higher current draw, which then stresses the poorly designed EKPS?

My understanding is that all sensors tend to fail, it's a matter of time. The only sensor （coolant temperature/fan switch）I've seen so stable is from Honda Civic (2008).
