I also don't understand how you can deal so much damage. I deal so little damage and I have 160 CP gear.

Open up your group and activity finder as if you were going to queue for a dungeon (on PC the default key is to open it is P). Then change the dungeon mode from normal to veteran. The shield icon has little spikes for Veteran and just a smooth outline for normal. That setting affects dungeons, raids, and arenas.

It's in a zone called The Reach. You need to either own the Markarth DLC or be an ESO Plus subscriber to access that content. The arena itself is south of the main city and closest to the Briar Rock Wayshrine. Once you've discovered the arena you will be able to fast travel directly to it.

Did you do the blue area before going into the red fire zone to have the portal ability? There's a lever you have to pull to open up the fire secret boss that you can only get to if you have the portal ability from doing blue.

I tested running vet on Arcanist with Oakensoul and blew threw it. I may have to do an update to show just how good that setup is for arenas. I hadn't tried using Sea Serpent's Coil but will have to take a look at it now.

Sure! This will be a bit long so I apologze in advance. I was using an old, slightly modified version of a Xynode sorc build when I did this. I'm going to link his current build as a reference, it is a 1 bar Oakensoul ring build that does not use pets but if you don't have Oakensoul my setup below should still work. xynodegaming.com/lazy-sorc/ 2 pc monster set with divines trait and max magicka enchant (1 medium & 1 light from vet Banished Cells II), 5 pc Infallible Mage with divines trait and max magicka enchant (from Aetherian Archive trial), 3 pc jewelry Sergeant's Mail with Bloodthirsty trait and Weapon/Spell dmg enchant and Lightning Staff on front bar with precise trait and weapon dmg enchant (from Wayrest Sewers dungeon) and on back bar the Maelstrom Lightning staff with Infused trait and Shock enchant. Front bar: Twilight Matriarch (provides emergency heal to you and pets - would use Tormentor now instead), Volatile Familiar, Crystal Fragments, Daedric Prey, Hardened Ward and Greater Storm Atronach. Back bar: Twilight Matriarch, Volatile Familiar, Critical Surge, Unstable Wall, Boundless Storm (would use Hurricane now instead) and Elemental Rage. Mundus: Was using The Mage in this but I use The Thief now. Mage gives more max magicka which meant a bigger dmg shield and that was just extra insurance for me on vet when I did the trifecta. More crit from Thief = more damage and faster kills though and is better if you're comfortable with the arena. Blue CP: Wrathful Strikes, Fighting Finesse, Deadly Aim, Weapon's Expert. Red CP: Boundless Vitality, Rejuvenation, Fortified, Siphoning Spells

I'd say more of a time sink than a gate. You could do this all in one long gaming session and not have to wait for a day or a week to get back in to complete it. WoW had some pretty annoying time gates to unlock certain things and thankfully there's no reputation grind in this either. But yeah, anything the devs can do to make players spend more time in a game...I hear ya.

You can reset it and do it as many times as you want. Over and over. Once you complete the quest and turn it in, leave the area then toggle the difficulty back and forth between veteran and normal on the group screen. That should reset it. Sometimes you just have to fast travel around to a couple of places to give it a few minutes to reset.

The order you do the portals in makes all the difference. To get the grapple hook you would have to do the green portal first then you could do blue then red. You would have to reset your run and start it over if you want the blue side areas this time. Otherwise, just finish blue now and then you would be able to do red next because blue gives you the use of portals that you can use to get to side areas in red. Then red will give you lava protection orbs that you can use to get to side areas in green. It's kind of a vicious circle. You can only get to 2 of the portal side areas in any run and can't get to all 3 in one swoop.

They are in a room next to where Priestess Gut takes you. Up the stairs to the left after you get inside the fortress. You might have to use some stealth to lockpick the door to get in if it is being guarded by the halflings. One of them is a merchant you can trade with to keep their attention focused on one character if you split the party.

The essence boosters that you have to grab to allow you to see the 5 additional remnant pieces in that zone are always in the same place. The 5 remnants that spawn when you get it are in random locations in that particular portal's zone. Did you do the green portal before going into the blue one? You have to do the green portal to get the grappling hook. The order you do the portals decides which tool you get to do the other portals. Green gives the grapple hook, Blue gives the teleport, and Red gives the protection orb for walking on lava.

Hey, Sully! I've really been enjoying this game and played it during early access. Larian has done an incredible job and I love finding creative ways to deal with different encounters. What character class did you pick or are you playing as an origin character?

@@javasgameroom Great to hear from you again. I’ve been playing as one of the original characters. I’ve found quickly that I’m not gonna play with Gale in my group because of his Nocturna fumes. He is a hindrance to reviving my dead characters especially when he is the only one alive.

@@sullycanuck120 I bring Gale in for certain useful situations where I need him to sling some specific spells but I tend to stick with Astarion because his stealth skills have been more way more useful to me so far. I rolled a custom drow warlock and am eldritch blasting my little heart out. :)

Did you try dropping the quest? That should completely reset it back to the start. Changing it from normal to veteran then back to normal can also reset it.

Which class are you on? You can use harness/dampen magicka from the light armor skill line on any class if your class doesn't have a built-in shield. Pacing your run across to get that first red orb is key. Shield and/or speed buff, run to a rock, grab the wisp to extend time and wait for a sec before running to the next rock. It may take a few attempts to get across successfully.

Great tip! Sometimes an orb or two just seem impossible to find during a single run. Resetting them by porting out before the first boss can save you from having to do a second or third full run to get them all.

It's called Frozen Blood. Even though the tooltip color looks red it dyes as a very shiny silver. You unlock that dye from the Harrowstorm Delver achievement by completing both Icereach and Unhallowed Grave on veteran.

The running on lava orbs? You have to heavy attack the orb then it explodes and gives you the shield that lasts roughly 12 seconds. If you aren't standing close enough to the orb (don't stand too far away with a staff) then the shield won't get applied to you and you'll have to wait for the orb to respawn.

@@offensichtlichfabian you need to have done the red portal before this in order to get the lava orbs to spawn. The order you do the portals determines what you'll have available.

Thanks for letting me know this helped! For doing solo arenas, magsorc is always my main. I got my first vMA clear on that class and have kept that character as my arena farmer ever since. In other PvE content like overland questing, dungeons, and trials, I've mained as a stamplar for several years now.

Once you kill the final boss of any portal area everything in that area becomes cleared and you cannot find any missed orbs and you cannot get the secret boss. You have to do any of those before you kill that last boss. Killing the 1st boss is fine and will allow you to roam and find orbs and the secret boss still. Once you kill that 2nd boss though you'll have to do another run to get it.

It's possible you missed an orb. Check your individual achievements that are all part of the Honor to the Spiritblood achievement for Vateshran Hollows to see what you are still missing.

Thank you so much! The outfit styles are: Stormlord cuirass, pauldrons, and gauntlets, Divine Prosecution sash, Celestial breeches, and Yokudan shoes. The dye colors are frozen blood, void pitch black and nacreous purple.
