Hello welcome to my channel, today we are exploring a patch that emphasizes the philosophy of West Coast Synthesis popularized by the legendary Don Buchla. This style focuses on sound exploration through sound design instead of creating music in the traditional sense. There are countless ways to achieve this. One of those methods is through synthesizers. On this channel the tool I will be exploring with is a program called VCV Rack. VCV is a soft synth designed to emulate hardware modular synthesizer.
The main advantage of using VCV Rack is it is a very budget friendly way getting into modular and test out configurations without risking damage to expensive hard to find equipment.

I don't really know what to say about this patch, I named it after the 7 volcanic plugs that exist in my region. I thought the name was fitting. What I am trying to do here is make a polyrhythmic patch in stereo, I'm not sure if I did or not. Clock modulation is crucial for this patch.

I was playing around with phasor modules; I enjoyed playing around with them with one minor but incredibly annoying aspect about these modules. in order to get them to function as intended requires such minute adjustments of the offset knob using a mouse is not ideal. The need for generous patients with this is highly recommended by me. I really think the modules don't need to be so finnicky. T...

I wanted to experiment with some percussion. Not many of my tracks have drums in them. The thought was to branch out a little bit from ambient and try to be experimental. Just for fun is the name of the game.

OK this is more of a planned approach rather just freewheeling it like the last one. I also added 2 modules I beleive are meant to compliment Mathias Puech. I love the results.

New oscillator that's in the free modules page. This is fun to mess with, this is just a random video messing with it. have fun.

The inspiration for this patch was purely boredom. Sometimes that's the best time to experiment. Notes are in the video explaining what is going on.

I wanted to play with the FM functions of the Cs-l by Instruo. However, in the VCV Rack version FM is almost unusable at the lower rates, even using a standard LFO requires the rate to be at audio levels to keep the FM from sounding like a 3-year-old child coloring with crayons. So, a highly specialized LFO is needed in order clean up the FM on Cs-L the type that takes minuets, hours, or even a...

OK a couple things about this patch. I have 2 external clocks going into SEW3 one sub clock 1 at 2x, sub clock 2 at 3x with an operation delay of /8T so it doesn't muddle up the sequence. I have 2 CV rows patched into the quantizer and the 3rd row acting as cv to the envelope generator to modulate open and closing of the gate, For the Div Con module sub clock 3 is 3x to the module, Div Con is a...

I've been working on this patch for a week, there is a lot of cable stacking involved to get the patch to work. For example, observe the 2 cables stacked on the cutoff input on the module Stabile I have an LFO cable (purple) and a cable from the Rampage module (blue, slew limiter) modulating the filter cutoff. There is also stacked cable in the Rest inputs for the Proteus sequencer expander to ...

Very nice and interesting! ❤
Glad you think so!
Very nice!! ❤

You and I are not even a drop in the ocean when it comes to views.
@@paulluna8099 heartwarming humour is what we have🙂
It sounds like a blues song played in 2150... Crazy!
Very niice!! ❤

Sounds great! I can hear sandworms from every direction.❤
Oh, nice! 👍
Thanks! 😄
this is very cool. low key kind of jealous 😁😁😁
awesome
This is very reminiscent of the field recordings I made when I was on a tour of Gliese 514. The weather their is very unpredicatble and at times quite lethal.
Tell us more about your time at Gliese 514.
I really enjoy these explorations you have been creating these past months. Thank you
Subbed, God bless you 😊❤
As a general music making tip, if you're concerned about the bass being lost on phone speakers, etc, it might be a good idea to run the low end through a saturator plugin or introduce some harmonics or distortion.
maybe some unison and make the sub frequencies mono under 160 hz too then boost 3 db
Satanik music
why?
Hahaha this is in the sane vein of my favorite personal VCV rack improv - fantastic job❤

@@paulluna8099 thanks! Good stuff man, love this weird type of experimental music
this is awesome
I feel like this is what a horrific, amalgamated abomination of machinery hunting down the vestiges of humanity would sound like.

Thank you.
love it
Pairs well with a nice white wine and 4 grams of magic mushrooms
Sounds like disturbing Portal ambient. I liked it
Interesting piece, with lots of grainy twists and intermittent turns and fun sounds!
really beautiful! Ended too soon :)
Amazing! Plateau + box of revelation sounds very nice together

Thank you.
Amazing!
Thank you!.
What do you do to record it?
It's the module right next to 8FO at the end of the bottom row. This module is free. It had REC written on it. You can record MPEG-2 and wav files with this. You have to right-click it in order to get different options. Otherwise, it just records audio by default.
nice rack!
cool
How'd you get the Visuals?
The module is specifically built to display visuals. I just patched it into the signal chain, and it runs itself.
@@paulluna8099 What's it called?

What is Signal State? I didn't mod anything.
Is that Signal State? If it is, did you mod it? Or i just abandonned it too soon xD
The phasor modules are driven by a slow ramp wave instead of clock pulses. So for the phasor input you can use the Phasor Generator by HetrickCV or the ZZC Clock phase output. Or just any lfo really. I think maybe Omri is working on a video about these
I wasn't sure, so naturally, I patched a phaser module directly into the phaser input of the sequencer. In turned I used an LFO to modulate the phaser module. Someone in the LSS Community pointed out a detailed tutorial and explanation from the developer on GITHUB. I just didn't know where to look. I will give your suggestion a try and others from there.
it sounds like it could easily be a Minecraft soundtrack
intricate noise. sorta intersting. thanks.
