The drum you mentioned is called African talking drum also called, ‘doon doon’ or ‘tama’ ( smaller) depending on size & maybe region it’s from. The quality to make it ‘talking’ is that it has strings on the outside. You out it under your arm & play it with a hammer like wooden stick. When you squeeze on the strings it pulls on the tension of the drum head which alters the pitch. They use it affective on here. Very cool!

Took me a second listen to understand the lyrics.
