Billionaire David Rubenstein Interview (2023): Failure, Ambition, and Sam Bankman-Fried
Welcome to the first episode of season 2 of Keepin Kozy. We are back with an awesome interview with Billionaire David Rubenstein of the Carlyle Group. #davidrubenstein is one of the biggest names in finance -- arguably popularizing the field of private equity, and has since become one of the foremost philanthropists in America. Notably, he donated funds to remodel the Washington Monument, and lended an original copy of the Bill of Rights to the National Archives. He is best known now for his work as an interviewer, with his peer to peer conversations on Bloomberg where he interviewed "peers" like Ari Emmanuel, Jeff Bezos, and many more. I spoke to him about some of the pressing questions I have about life in one's 20's. Questions related to ambition, failure, and taking on large ventures (like creating a business). I hope you enjoy.
This interview took place back in November, right around the time Sam Bankman-Fried's FTX scheme was revealed. We speak on failure, ambition, young founders -- like Sam Bankman-Fried -- and the future of media. Hope you enjoy!
Apologies in advance for the quality of the microphone -- it will be better next time.
Thanks for sticking around and please share if you like what ya listened to :)

McAfee over-identified with the hero archetype and lost it: He seeks truth for power not power for truth. This is a brilliant person I’ve followed for years yet whose malignant narcissism arrests his empathy and motivates his actions. But be very careful adopting his “attitude”along with this as that’s the serpent and taking the victim role is denying life and he’s asking you to do this.. Do not! Jail will not free you. He needs to believe that. Godspeed!

I can't imagine a man is "living life" during the 21 times he was arrested. Those are some serious entanglements with law enforcement. Um yea, that's not living life. That strikes me as complicating your life in a palpable way not to mention wasting a serious amount of time.

He was an attention-seeker who used MDPV and stimulants which during a withdrawal will cause your mind to go waywire. He was guilty of serious federal tax violations and possibly further extradition to Central America where did commit murders. McAfee was a genius who knew his ‘gig was up’ and he was going to jail so he fell back upon one last chance to troll authority and be a beacon for the misguided and disenfranchised. McAfee committed suicide because he was well aware people would assume US authorities had been involved It would be funny if it weren’t for the millions of young people who are misguided and deceived by a man who was a murderer who promoted drug-use and conspiracy theories against civilisation itself McAfree was outspoken about his disenfranchisement with modern world and he suffered from the nearly universal problem of anti-established types… he had no clear vision of how to the world could actually function if you suddenly toss out what euphemistically call ‘the matrix’ or ‘enslaved minds’ Guess what kids, he was right, to keep social order and hope a future that doesn’t slide back into billions dying in world wars and brutality the world governments are all built upon varying degrees of societal guidance and control Just because you can breathe and press a like button on TH-cam doesn’t mean you’ve earned the right to be out of a system that require us all to study, be productive, obey laws and try to leave a better world than we found it I am a firm believer in paying innovators for the fruits of the labour and McAfee had earned his right to be a wastrel. What he didn’t earn, and no one in global ssociety earns is the right to flagrantly break the law, to commit murder and to steal from the system that made hin who he became. McAfee had to pay taxes, we all do, the day law enforcement stops pursuing the wealthy who avoid taxes is the day you will try the same thing. The drug-use as a recreational habit is irrelevant but it shouldn’t be glorified for the youth. But what really makes me certain he killed himself is the murder in Belize. McAfee was apparently an exploitative evil man who took advantage of the poor women in the nations he lived in. In December 2018, he tweeted that he had "47 genetic children."[3][133][134] His third wife described him in a Father's Day message as "father of many, loved by few."[20] Epstein didn’t kill himself. He needed a lot of encouragement and he required extrajudicial measures because Epstien had become so powerful he was literally above any court or law enforcement’s ability to handle . McAfee did kill himself, a rich has-been who was drug-addicted and hated by all who were near him, Good riddance to trash like these men I see glorification of conspiracy theories and it saddens me and everything my family has worked to build and maintain Oh and yea you’re welcome… for Epstein that is.. All are fine ways to experience the short time we’ve got on earth.
