The OHL Podcast
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 11 มิ.ย. 2008
Veteran broadcaster Mike Farwell brings you his unique perspective on the Ontario Hockey League. From his days standing on a milk crate while interviewing players, to spending years on the road with legendary junior hockey broadcaster Don Cameron, Farwell brings you a view of the OHL you simply won't find anywhere else. From Ottawa to Windsor, and from the Soo to Erie, the OHL Podcast has something for every junior hockey fan, bringing you the best stories from the players you cheered...and jeered. Issues and insights. Stories and sarcasm. From the fans to the front office, The OHL Podcast is your online scrapbook for one of the greatest leagues in the world.
The Eastern trade frenzy, an OHL team sold, and losing legends and setting records
Lay the rumours to rest! Another OHL trade deadline has passed and a few names rumoured to be on the block did not get moved. Dan and Mike survey the league's new landscape and realize someone -- and probably a couple of someones -- are going to be disappointed in the Eastern Conference. Also, with the Brantford Bulldogs being sold, a lot of fans are wondering if the city is about to lose its team. The guys have the answer. Plus, the league loses a legend, a referee sets a record, Connor McDavid is remembered, and our Prospects of the Week.

OHL trades and trolls -- Fridays With Farwell
มุมมอง 37212 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา
There are a lot of teams in the OHL's Eastern Conference that think they still have a shot and we all know only one gets to win. Buckle up for what promises to be a fun second half of the season that could feature a first-ever for one Eastern Conference team. Of course, London remains the team to beat in the West, but other top teams have served notice they won't make it an easy ride. Meantime ...
Canada's World Junior disappointment, making deals at the OHL trade deadline, Top 3 logos
มุมมอง 98919 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา
It's been clear for a while that the world has caught up to Canada in the game of hockey, but that still doesn't explain back-to-back big disappointments for Canada at the World Juniors. Dan and Mike analyze the failure and what can be done to correct it. Plus, the OHL trade deadline is just days away. Who's buying and who's selling? And it's the debate that just won't go away. Which logo is th...

The OHL's trade deadline is rapidly approaching and some teams have already jumped into the pool head first. With the help of veteran broadcasters Manny Paiva and Mike Poirier, we take a look at which teams are likely to be the most active as the jockeying for position in the second half is officially underway. This week's Wraparound offers a Christmas gift to every team, including one for the ...
One Team Canada World Junior snub leads to another -- Fridays With Farwell
มุมมอง 37021 วันที่ผ่านมา
I get it. We all want *our* guy to play for Team Canada. And let's face it, in Canada, we have A LOT of guys we could make an argument for. But for every guy we're arguing for, there's someone else arguing for another guy. And strong cases can be made for virtually all of them. So, instead of just saying why your guy should be there, why not add which guy that you think should NOT be there? And...
Curious coaching changes in the OHL, a younger overager, dissecting Team Canada's cuts
มุมมอง 75728 วันที่ผ่านมา
We all know coaches are hired to be fired, but what about first place coaches? Yup, them too. Along with assistants while the head coach remains. The guys are a little perplexed, but they've got opinions and they're not afraid to share them. Also, half of Team Canada's final cuts are OHL'ers, Dan and Mike wonder if the league could get younger, and don't miss this week's Wraparound with a look ...
It's time to put a timer on the video reviews -- Fridays With Farwell
มุมมอง 227หลายเดือนก่อน
The point of introducing video reviews into sports was to get the call right. Now, we have to start getting it right, faster. From tablets that aren't adequately charged to those that aren't logged in, to the various angles officials must see before issuing a ruling, it's just gone on too long. We need a time limit on the reviews. If a ruling can't be made in that time, the play on the ice stan...
The Michael Misa/NCAA rumours, the under-qualified refs, and the World Junior snubs
มุมมอง 799หลายเดือนก่อน
It's not quite Christmas, but a couple of teams have caught our attention because they're not where we thought they would be. Also, in case you'd forgotten that the OHL was big business, just consider the lengths the league will go to in order to make sure a game gets played. Dan and Mike are talking about the Top Prospects Game and who's missing from Canada's World Junior roster, plus don't fo...
Michael Misa suspended for shooting a stuffed animal into the stands -- Fridays With Farwell
มุมมอง 372หลายเดือนก่อน
Yup, it's about as weird a suspension as you'll ever hear about. How can a player earn a suspension for shooting a soft, plush, stuffed animal into the stands? Well, it's not so much what was shot into the stands as the action of doing it. The Ontario Hockey League simply can't run the risk of allowing players to develop the bad habit of shooting ANYTHING into the stands. In fairness to Michael...
Where the OHL is likely to expand, the CHL dominates the USA, and some stiff suspensions
มุมมอง 971หลายเดือนก่อน
We're not saying it was the best time for the CHL to have the performance it had at the CHL-USA Prospects Challenge but, well, the timing probably couldn't have been better. It was a dominant Canadian triumph over two games, emboldening the league's reputation as the Number One development league in the world. And at the same time the OHL would probably like to extend its premier brand into mor...

I've heard all NCAA scouts only go to chl teams/games now. HC u18aaa is done.
Mennonite is not worth a 5 game suspension & the ohl has gotten soft with not having a spine. The new owner is making it a woke joke by this sim suspension. Why wasent hay hold accountable what he said? Talk about a one sided situation. We are a snowflake society.
I was never a fan of the Tex Ranger version of the Kitchener Rangers jersey and thank goodness the Cooperalls are a thing of the past. 🤮
As a Brantford Bulldog fan, congrats on the 10,409 teddy bear toss.
What a depressing town...😢
Home sweet home
Let’s Go Steelheads 🐟 all in now baby.
Some very interesting trading going on in the East. Should be interesting to see how it all pans out. As for the trolls especially the anonymous ones they are probably just guys living in their parents basement with nothing to do haha. Just a side note that sign behind you that says spring, summer, fall, hockey will soon be just summer and hockey if leagues keep expanding.

This Spirit fan has always loved the Guelph Storm color scheme.
My issue with players like Misa, Parekh, and Sennecke is that they weren’t even invited to Team Canada’s selection camp. Parekh and Sennecke were late invites due to a couple of injuries but Hockey Canada had already made up their minds regarding those 2 players.
nice to see the hounds logo get some love. i'm TOTALLY biased but it is a classic logo.
We’d love to hear some recommendations regarding logo options here in sarnia …
It is not the hockey it is who is picking the team and coaches. The only game they played good was against Finland the rest not so good. I have never seen a coach cancelling pratice in a short tournament before and then saying the players were too tired to practice. Instead of picking the best players they seem to want to pick role players. IMO Carter George was the best player on Team Canada. I hope they change how they are picking the players in the future. There were too many not living up to their billing and not going to mention any names. As for the trade deadline I hope Kitchener just stands pat. I think they already have a great group of players and have a lot of chemistry. BTW I heard you mentioned it snowed during the game on Friday so I quick looked out my window and no snow at all haha.
Carter George was definitely the best player. And, yes, opting not to practice was a curious decision. But for some reason these players self-destructed. Their lack of discipline was a huge factor in the disappointment.

Well it was nice that after all that work, the Rangers were able to come out with an OT victory. 🏒👍
Go Rangers and a win in their first New Year game!
Speaking of a soft league, back in the 80s, I had three Brantford Alexander players , who were in the penalty box in the Soo, climb over the railing and over top of me and my buddy, to get some heckling fans three rows up. They were thrown out of the game and not suspended. My buddy and I were ejected from the building.
@@brettfavreify the good old days!
For snubs, why aren't Canadian players from US colleges on the team? Maybe it's because of Hockey Canada's alliance with the CHL. We don't always out the best team out there just like we don't always select the best coach.

My team growing up was the Broad Street Bullies. They won 2 stanley cups without ever fighting, lol.
Give me Beckett Sennecke over Tanner Howe or Luca Pinelli. It doesn't really matter because guys like Misa or Sennecke will be on the team next year

Jim Waters is gonna be very missed he was very nice gentleman, he's a huge reason why theres still Otters hockey in the flagship city when they were almost relocated in 2015 and He was very loved by Erie community, I've seen him around at the games many times every time I saw him I would always say "Hey how's it going Jim", one of the only times I've gotten to have a conversation with Jim was few years ago when I thanked him for everything he's done with the otters and what he's done for Erie entirely. Im still in shock about his passing, Saturday game was very emotional night so glad they came out with the victory in dominate fashion. Going forward the Otters are playing for Jim. The last few years the Erie Otters have down throwbacks nights to the Erie Blades/Golden Blades ( 1978-82, between four different leagues and fun fact they are the current Springfield Thunderbirds AHL ) they have their championship banners in rafters of the EIA. They recently last season did a throwback night to the Erie Panthers ECHL ( 1988-96 ) and on Dec 28th they are celebrating 60yrs of hockey in Erie , all of theses teams were before my time since I'm currently 25 years old lol...... I've been a Season Ticket holder for the Erie Otters for long time now I've been going since I've been a kid alot of Otters fans I've gotten to know over the years and I've become friends with who went to or were season ticket holders for the Blades, Golden Blades and the Panthers have said they love when they Otters do throwback night and everytime Otters have sold jersey and other merchandise have sold out during a pre-sale or the night of throwback night.
North Bay Battalion Have honored the North Bay centennials, In the first year by wearing the centennials Logo. As a shoulder patch. As well as in the first two seasons they had centennial night. Where they wore old school centennial jerseys. And the battalion third Jersey is in centennials colors. With a tank on it.
