KIngsong S22 Pro & Mten-Mini -- update on S22 charging and Mten-mini range issues
@RickBarford
I have received in double-quick-time, a replacement stock S22 charger from One-Ride in Valencia in Spain --- only took 4 days to arrive!....nice!. I still have some doubts about this being a permanent fix however!
With the Mten-Mini I have determined that - for now, only really soft riding is going to give me over 8km range -- rats!

Kingsong S22 Pro & Begode Mten-Mini -- charging issue on the S22 & low range on the Mten-Mini
มุมมอง 2721 วันที่ผ่านมา
So.....I have had charging problems from the stock charger that came with the S22, for some time now. A fix that Roger Hijali (Roger EUC) came up with - and demonstrated by Marty Backe (@ElectricUnicycles) over a year ago now worked well and has been used by me for over 6 months now, to compensate for repeat low charging issues. This video covers where I'm at now. I also cover in this video, fi...
Mten-Mini --- Ever get dirty or wet/muddy shoes and pant legs? -- This is how I got past this
มุมมอง 36หลายเดือนก่อน
After a few weeks, it became clear, that no matter whether it wash hot and dry - or wet or muddy the continual problem of messed up pant legs, socks and shoes, was putting me off riding this wheel. This video shows how that was resolved.
MTen-Mini -- Trolley handle
มุมมอง 30หลายเดือนก่อน
This video describes an issue found with a "ladder style" , rear-mounted trolley handle and how to get past this with a top-mounted unit. Using a 3D printer to make the fitment parts, has given a light-weight yet robust and compact handle that nests nicely on the top of the EUC.

After a little practice, now have a method to get on and off with minimal stress to ankles or knees - without having to jump on. This video shows how robust this little wheel is with a rider well over the recommended top rider weight of 68kgg/150lb,with no suspension and riding on stony off-road ground. A fun and nippy little wheel!!!
Rick's EUC Journey - and another Mten Mini mounting/dismounting technique improvement

Now that the grandchildren have returned to the UK to start school again, I have had more time to try to get on top of this little wheel. The difficulty in mounting in particular, has been an issue for me and working on a technique to overcome this is ongoing. Now grandkids don't laugh at me! I'm old don't forget!!!

@RickBarford I'm still working on a technique that allows me to get on and off this baby-wheel, without both damaging me and/or the wheel ........ OR ..... scare the pants off the kids when they see me fail!!! NOT AN OPTION!!. The end-game is to be able to show our grandchildren how much fun it is - then encourage them hopefully to have a go themselves.
Rick's EUC Journey - Getting to grips with the Mten Mini -- mounting and dismounting technique
มุมมอง 1015 หลายเดือนก่อน
Once up and away, I just love the fact the wheel is so nippy! BUT!! getting on and off the wheel is not so easy so I am trying to come up with a way to get past this barrier. Lets see if, with practice - I can use this as the basis to "become-one-with-the-wheel" and eventually graduate to mounting without such tricks. Here goes.......
Rick's EUC Journey - First crack at riding this Mten Mini - such a tiny wheel! Wish me luck
มุมมอง 255 หลายเดือนก่อน
This EUC is tiny! Just trying to get mounted at first, was such an issue - even though I can mount my S22 ok. So I reverted back to my "crutches technique" - and it worked well enough for me to build a rapport with the wheel. So far, so good!

This is the final video showing the last quarter of my EUC ride. I’ve heard good things about the pidzoom chargers but don’t know about it personally. I see everyone fast charging but that isn’t a necessity for me right now either. I think the pidzoom/roger charger is that one charger can be used on multiple wheels by just changing the adapter.
Hi Steve ---good to hear from you. My thinking exactly - the Roger Charger would be my first choice, but seems not available to me here in Europe - however, the Pidzoom should work well, as the low end at 40 volts allows for charging my 'toy-wheel' as well. I suspect it is cooling rapidly in Tennessee now --- I remember snow when we went to Nashville in December -- we don't get snow here.....just saying. 😁
@@RickBarfordI’m thinking about a new wheel before to long and so checking into one of those chargers will also be high in the priority list. I have a pidzoom charger enhancer. I can set the volts and when I want it to cut off. Without a smart bms on my master, that seemed like a great investment to prevent overcharging. It’s definitely cold here in Nashville. We got a few snow flurries last night. Right now it’s 26degF. I brought my wheels in from the garage for this cold spell.
@@Delko-615 29degF !! -- urgh. We rarely drop below 5degC (roughly, double it and add 30) makes it 40degF. That's too cold now I am a softy.
nice, wish i had one, can i buy it
thank you for the nice comment. As this is a once-only, home-made trolley handle, it is not for sale -- but thanks for asking.

oh very good ^^
Thanks ... nice words and appreciated. Hopefully there is more to come. Have a great day.
Let's go! Beautiful nature and perfect time spent.
It could be very important information about position on pedals. Could it be root of wobble issues?
Hi again. I hope some of what I post up is useful to some people and helps figure issues out themselves. As to wobbles - I don't ride hard enough for these to have been a problem - yes i have them, but I haven't had any issues dealing with them - but - your'e right, it could be a root cause.
I'm glad that you find something that give you joy.
Thank you -- that's a nice comment and I appreciate it. 👍
Thank you for sharing this. I am struggling to get a hang of free-mounting as well. Will try your technique.
Hey and thanks for the comment. On my bigger wheel, I have found it easier than the tiny Mten Mini --- counter to expectation. Hope this technique works for you.....enjoy your wheel!!
That annoing dogs, lol!! )))))))
You have so stable picture! What setup do you use, if its not secret?
I started videoing using a small Go2 camera -- but I decided to upgrade to using an Insta360 X3 for my rides. It needed practice holding a selfie-stick while riding, as it did effect my riding as a novice rider - but it did not take long to get used to it. The X3 camera is not cheap, but it is a good action camera. You can find good used ones on Ebay .... I got mine from a seller in Italy and it was in very good condition. Keep-on-riding nd stay safe! Rick
What a beautifull wheel you have! Great ride, great nature!

Thanks! ... that's nice of you to say so.
Hey go boy! Looks like great fun. You just need the juggling plates now! X
Thank you Ma'am!! Hi Ginnie, come-on-down sis-in-law and I'll teach you how It's done! As I have hopefully shown, you're never too old. Talk soon.
Looks like you're doing great Rick. I'm glad to see you finally able to enjoy the EUC!
You're doing great Rick! Don't sweat the foot position too much for now once you're mounted. After riding for a while your balance will get good enough that you can start to wiggle your foot into position, and then eventually you'll get to the point that you can easily lift your push-off foot up and reposition it as needed at speed. That's going to take some time though, so I wouldn't focus on it overly much at this point. Just allow yourself to enjoy the ride. Once you can free-mount your wheel (which you are doing now, great job!) you should really just allow yourself to ride it and enjoy it. It's unbelievable how much will just come naturally from riding the EUC without explicitly focusing on any particular skill. As your muscles and balance improve, your other skills will automatically improve. The spikes definitely do their jobs to keep your foot locked in. I struggled with that as well. Unless your foot is horribly badly positioned I wouldn't worry about it too much at first. It's just going to mean that your feet will hurt faster due to bad foot positioning, and it will mean that either acceleration or braking will be harder depending on whether the foot is too far forward or backwards. Just don't try to go really fast and it shouldn't be a problem for you. The main concern is keeping your speed low enough that you can brake if something happens. As long as you feel good about that then don't sweat it right now.
Thanks B, .... I have to say your words of encouragement and mentoring-from-afar -- is helping no end. It helps knowing what I can afford not to focus on so much and what to mostly concentrate on to make improvement.. ------- It has only been a couple of days since my latest progress post, but following your advice this morning, things have got easier. To beat-the-heat - I went out first thing before the sun built any power and found - like you said - just get up and ride, no matter where my trailing-foot plants on the foot-plate, has meant I have made progress --- Huzzah!!. Yes, as you warned there is a little lower leg and foot ache, but compared to "falling-off-bruises" it's nothing! I have found - somewhat counter-intuitively-- at least to me -- that "launching" forward and slight diagonally to the left (my left leg is my glued-in-place-leg) BUT - only just moving, makes for a cleaner mount for me than pushing off hard.....Go figure! I have also found without the knee/calf protection on, I can launch much more easily......so my focus at the moment is to be as easy foot-planting with the protection on.....that is today's task. I have seen videos where asymmetric feet position is advocated, but that seems to be advice aimed at more the advanced riders. Tomorrow I will start the process of foot adjustment on the move..... ever onwards!!! Thanks for the focus advice -- keep it coming ........Rick
@@RickBarford That's great to hear. I'm glad that you are able to finally enjoy the fruits of your efforts. It's normal to feel foot pain as a beginner. That happens for a few reasons: 1. Foot position 2. Shoe type 3. Underdeveloped muscles since these are muscles people don't normally use. This is the largest reason, and will obviously fix itself over time. This video helps a lot to explain it: th-cam.com/video/ejbct-BQ2eE/w-d-xo.html
B ..... watched the video -- very interesting. Will try the suggested adjustment today and see how it goes .....watch this space! rick@@BruceWayne15325
Impressive progress!
I really like the front stainless steel bumper and aluminum side panel upgrades you made. You made excellent riding progress.
SV --- thanks again. I've made the mods for two reasons -- I have fallen a few times whilst figuring out how to ride -- the main reason for the mods is to help wheel protection and for me to be more comfortable by fitting the Clark-Pads. Once going I can stay up and steer now .... I just need to pin-down the getting on and off under control. Ever onwards!! Rick
@@RickBarford Everything will come together. Just take it one ride at a time.
Welcome to Wheel Life Rick! Awesome video Thanks for sharing.
V ---thank you! Rather amateur videos ,but thank you for the positive comments. Rick
Hey Rick. It looks like you're progressing well. At 50, I'm also a bit older than most people getting into this sport. I don't have the problem of a weak ACL though, so I can't help too much with that, other than to say that eventually mounting will require less strain as you improve your strength and balance. Getting experience riding is probably the most important thing you can do as that will build your balance, and leg strength, which will make learning to self-mount easier. I live next to a long sound wall, and I used that for my practicing. I would ride along the sidewalk and use the wall to help me get back on. When I first started trying to self-mount I found it tiring, and it felt like managing the weight of the EUC was fairly difficult. Eventually I learned to rely more on balance to keep the wheel up rather than leg strength, and that made things much easier. When I hop onto the EUC I try to aim for ending up in a slightly forward leaning standing position. At first, it requires moving your push-off foot very quickly onto the pedal, but as your balance improves you'll find that you are not in quite as much of a rush. It goes without saying, but a hard, smooth surface is best to learn on. A parking garage is perfect as you have walls to help you mount, a glassy smooth surface, so it's easy to ride on, and doesn't damage your wheel as much when you crash. Lowering the pedals was a great move, and that will make learning to self-mount a lot easier for you. One exercise that I did to build my leg strength and help me to learn to self-mount was to initially treat the EUC like a skateboard with one leg on a pedal and the other leg just doing little pushes. I would try to stand up with each push. You will slowly get better, and find that your push-off foot will be able to stay off the ground for more, and more time. If this is too hard for your knee at this time though, I'd recommend just riding the EUC and make sure to keep your knees bent the whole time. That will help strengthen your knees while you learn to improve your balance. It will also allow you to enjoy the EUC rather than getting frustrated with it. Keep up the great work!
B .... thanks for all the encouraging comments and words of wisdom. I think you're right about building muscle strength --particularly around the knees, as I can already feel improvements'. Living in the country, I have to go someway to find a quiet area with any sort of wall to help with practising -- hence the way I am going about this. I have land area, but only a few scattered trees as any sort of support. I certainly intend to master this. Thanks again for the positive encouragement - it does help. Rick
@@RickBarford I forgot to mention another trick that will help with your ACL when mounting / riding, and that is your foot position. Make sure that your foot is slid all the way up against the EUC. This will cause the bulk of the weight of the EUC to be handled by your foot and ankle rather than with your knee. It's also much easier to free-mount that way.
@@BruceWayne15325 👍
@@RickBarford I should have also mentioned, be sure to keep your speed low, especially if you use that trick of snugging your foot up against the EUC to start. While it's easier to start that way, it's also less stable when you reach higher speeds if your legs are pressed up tight against the EUC, and you're more likely to encounter wobbles. Once you're mounted you will want to adjust your foot position, but initially while you are learning I would just stay at slow speeds that you can run out in a crash, and don't worry about adjusting your foot after mounting until you have it down pretty well.
@@BruceWayne15325 That's awesome advice B. Moving to a wider stance once moving, is something I hadn't figured out. I have been keeping my feet tight-toe-in all the time .... might explain my falling off a few times when turning. My wife and I have been away for a few days in Cadiz, but I expect to be back on the wheel in a day or so --- and assuming some progress on starting and stopping, I'll post another progress report. Thanks for the encouragement, it's really motivational and much appreciated. Rick
