O yeah, totally. It's funny how something can at first glance from gen AI feels cool to look at briefly until you start digging through the construction of it. I like using it to explore mood/tone, but we wouldn't rely on for producing production ready content. Thanks for the feedback.

It's almost functioning as a mini boss haha! I need to think about dynamic difficulty, this is probably the most beastly version tucked behind dynamic difficulty.

It kind of makes me wonder if having a gun coming out of a portal would use more energy to keep the portal open than just a laser or plasma cannon. There was a faction that someone modded into a game called Starsector that had massive ships that used portals to connect to fighter bays on a planet for faster replacement time. I wonder if some inspiration could be taken from that.
That's a fascinating concept! Using portals for weaponry or logistics adds an interesting layer of strategic complexity. A gun coming out of a portal might indeed require immense energy to sustain an open connection, depending on the portal’s stability and size, which could make a traditional laser or plasma cannon more energy-efficient. However, if you could harness the energy generated by the wormhole itself, you might offset some of these costs. Imagine a faction that perfected the art of channeling the exotic matter or gravitational forces of a wormhole, converting it into usable energy for their weapons or systems-essentially making the portal both a tool and a power source. This idea aligns well with using portals for logistical efficiency, like linking fighter bays on a planet to ships in space. You could expand on that to have a faction that leverages wormhole tech to power everything from supply chains to advanced energy weapons, creating a unique synergy between transportation and energy generation. Yes they are. SO much to do on the core system side with weapons and game flow, but that is part of the process. None of this is ready for any players yet, but we're chipping away at it!

What do you set to stop the snake from stopping with all the parts on top of one another? Looks really good by the way
We don't have control over the sorting of the parts. I think the head always sorts over the body, but the body and tail sort order can change as it navigates across the waypoint splines. All you can do is set the segmentation space between the parts (which is why our connecting bits are electricity, hehe). For the tail, I will most likely offset it in the sprite sheet to give a little more space.

Ha! It's cool to see how far you've come, and it reminds us that the mode isn't exactly for newcomers unless they want some old-school 8- and 16-bit era difficulty. (Souls-like difficulty for the modern gamers, haha)
