You cannot save yourself. The harder you try the more corrupt your soul becomes. First of all, the price demanded for your salvation is so high that only God himself can pay it. Second of all, you don't own anything. What will you give for your soul? You don't even own your own life because it can be taken from you at any time. And that God wants to save you and give you eternal life and an inheritance, is based on one thing. One fact alone - his love for you. If God did not love you first, nothing else would ever matter. All the preaching and teaching, all the sacrifice and works of service. They would all come to nothing. But He did love you first, and he does love you, except, not as the World loves. The best thing, the wisest thing you can ever do in your short life, is to surrender to God and to trust him. If only you could understand the staggering magnitude of what Jesus did for you in his sacrifice at Calvary. Ask God to save you and bring you to this knowledge. Not because of anything you could ever do, but only because of his love for you. It is a firm foundation.

The Lord wrote Psalm 1 himself. Jeremiah 17 is a dead giveaway. Recall Matthew 16:13. He said this because He would do it, He makes what is in the Bible there. Men are always taking credit for what God has done. Scholars now, just like the Scribes back then. Psalm 28:5 makes it clear - it will not end well for them. Many agree the Bible is factually true, so what. Psalm 1 speaks of a man who loves the Lord and delights in learning about him. Many search the Bible for information that can benefit themselves but their interest is short-lived. But Psalm 1 speaks of a man who loves the Lord and delights in learning about him.
